Shennie POV

We were now opening schools today and my mom woke me up early in the morning. This is the part I hate the most on school days, waking up before the sun rises and prepare to go to school.

Mom: Arti wake up, remember today you are going to school. (She said walking to my bed and I knew what exactly was about to happen so I quickly woke up.)

Me: Im awake now!! (I screamed a little and then I just gave her glazed eyes.)

Mom: Now go and do all your hygiene. (She said walking out.)

Me: Ok mom. (I said in between frowns.)

I took a bubble bath, brushed my teeth and I lotioned my body. As the head girl of the school I wore different uniforms with the rest. I wore my black slacks since it was winter season, white shirt, black shoes, pink hat, white socks, pink tie and lastly my cream blazer with pink ribbons . Others wore black slacks, pink shirts, black hats, pink socks, black ties and pearl pink blazers. Violet and I wore the same uniforms except that her cream blazer didn't have any ribbons.

So I was all done now and my slacks were a little tight and I'm still developing curves so they were visible. I was now not the thin Arti I used to be. I grabbed my already packed purple school bag. I ran downstairs and found my dad already eating breakfast, I joined him and we ate over a little conversation.

We ate quickly because we were running out of time. We were all done and now we were on our way. My father was the one who always dropped me at school and it made us very good friends. My dad was just the best father ever. His company was just 5 km away from my school, so he would drop me off and then go to work. When school was out I would go to his work place and wait for just an hour for him to finish work and we would come back together again. Cute right?!

He dropped me off and I gave him a kiss on the cheeks. I walked into the school yard and pupils were all over the place flushing smiles everywhere and some hugging and screaming. It was a good sight to see. Everyone was greeting me and some were even hugging me. Yea, that's what you get for being the headgirl of the school.

Everyone wanted to be my friend and some would even hate me for my position MXM. I first went to the administration to find my teacher just to show her that I am in. I found her and I went to her, when she saw me she gave me a dimpled smile and I hugged her.

Me: Mrs Clot!!! (She hugged me back.)

Her: My best student! (She really likes me but she always treat all her students the same and I have utmost respect for her for that.)

Me: How was your holiday? (I asked breaking the hug.)

Her: It was pretty great and yours?

Me: Mine was too long I had missed you. (I said just to flatter her, but it was true though.)

Her: Haha, you always have to be a great speaker all the the time. (She said initiating and keeping eye contact.)

Me: Thank you. (We both laughed and after that we said our goodbyes.)

I then went straight to my class and assembly was going to start in 30 minuted time so we still had time to catch up with our friends and mates. I went to my class just to be welcomed by all my enemies bulging eyes and red faces. The beef these girls had for me was now getting on my last nerve. First they were not that intelligent and they hated me because I was.

When we were in the 4th grade they were not picked to be prefects but I was and they were jealous. Just imagine how jealous they were when I was appointed as the head girl of the school. MXM, if only they knew that I didn't give a damn about that. They should just go and get a life. I wanted to annoy them to the core so this is what I did.

Me: Ohh, how are you Ash-- hmmm.(I pretended like I had forgotten her name) oohh Ashley right? Im sorry but I don't usually keep names of nasty people in my mind.

Them: Hey!!! (They were 3 of them.)

Me: Oh, did I just get to you with just that one little sentence. Oh, my bad. (I said with so much sarcasm and their lips were now curled and they had visible rigid cords in neck.)

Shantel: Just because you are now the head girl doesn't mean we won't be able to bit that ass of yours blue and black. (These 3 used to abuse me when I was in grade 4 and that ended when I stood my ground in grade 5.)

Debra: Yes, you think that you are strong now. (She said with so much pride.)

Violet: (She came clapping her hands.) I want to see you try. (She was there at the right time and I just ran to her and fell into her arms. We hugged with so much love.)

Ashley: Oh, the other dog is here. (She smurked)

Me: Hey!!! Call her that one more time and you will see what I will do to you. You really don't wanna mess with me on this one!. (I said grinding my teeth. How can she call my Vee that?)

Shantel: What will you do!! (She was the enormous one, very tall and too big for her age. She uses that to bully others.)

Me: Nothing much, I will just go to the headmaster and just tell him that you slapped me and you know everyone will be with me. (I said giving her a one sided curved smile, whilst folding my hands together.)

Violet: And you know the rules, what punishments you will have to go through when you slap or disrespect the headgirl or any prefect. (Their jaw's just clenched right there and then and seeing them like that was the best thing to see.)

Me: Lets not worst our precious time talking to these scams. (I took Vee's hand and we walked away leaving them all shocked and all their ego was on the floor.)

Violet and I didn't have to catch up on anything because we were together the whole holiday so we just talked about the scene earlier on and we were laughing out so loud. Some people in life drive you to do the things you don't want to do but I knew better than to not stand my ground. I could have been their pawn. It was now time for the assembly so Violet and I were up to duty, we called everyone for the assembly and checked if anyone was still in their classes.

Everyone was now at assembly and we sang the national anthem. Every teacher was at the stage and as always the prefects were called to the stage incase there was others who transfered or who were eliminated from their positions. So it was prefects first and now it was time to call for the vice head girl and vice head boy.

Teacher: And for our vice head girl we have Violet Tinoe Scott. (She called and Vee went up to the stage and was given her badge.)

Teacher: And our vice head boy Raymond Martinus. (Ray went up the stage and was given his badge and he stood next to Vee.)

Teacher: Lastly we have our head girl and head boy. Lets give a hand of applause for head girl Shennie Arti Zhloy!!! (I walked up to the stage while everyone was clapping their hands. I bowed down and I thanked everyone. I was given my badge which was a bit different from others. It was a bit big and pink in colour others were small and white in colour. I stood next to Violet, we looked at each other and just smiled.)

Teacher: And another hands of applause to Wilson Sun our head boy. (We clapped out hands and Wilson came to the stage and was given his badge which was just like mine and then he stood besides me.)

We had a few announcements and then then everyone was sent to their respective classes. We then left I don't know why I was feeling restless all of the sudden. I felt like something big was going to happen. I tried to ignore these feelings but somehow I couldn't. We then went to the classroom, I sat between Violet and Tylene (a prefect in our class). Our teacher came and we catched up before we started the lessons. Everyone was asked what happened on their Easter holidays.

Some went for vacations and some spent it at home. It was fun hearing about everybody's holiday. We then started to learn. The lessons were so great, Mrs Cot was just great. It was now break time and we went to the DH(Dining Hall), Violet and I went to our usual spot, the table that was at the back of all the tables. We sat on the seats behind the basketball court.

Mom had packed sandwich, bacon, polony and mango juice for me. Violet had fries, chicken wings and orange juice. We shared the food and we were both full. Whilst we were drinking our juices, someone who just looked like Lenti was coming towards us, he was with Wilson. I mean his step, lips, eyes, nose and everything about him just resembled Lenti. Why am I imagining things like this? Why would Lenti be here and wearing our uniform? I kept on blinking abnormally.

Me: No no no!!

Violet: Whats wrong?? Arti!! (She said narrowing her eyes.)

Me: No!! Him. (I said pointing at him.)

Violet: Why are you all girls fond of that new boy. (She said exhailing noisily through pursed lips.)

Me: What new guy Vee. (I was totally lost.)

Violet: Arti! You can be really clueless sometimes, don't you know the new comer that every girl is talking about. Every girl wants to be his friend. They say he is in yellow 💛. (WTF is Vee saying, I just touched the base of my neck trying to join the dots. Did Lenti transfer here from Moleli? No no no thats not possible. It must be just a mere fantasy. He was now 2 feet away from us and I had an unfocused gaze.

Lenti POV

I was now sitting in the car right before the gigantic gates of Maranatha feeling so nervous. I was with my mom and the gate opened on its own then she drove in. My mom was also nervous. I walked with her to her new office and we were waiting for the assembly to start.

Me: Mom, Im so nervous. (I said with a trembling chin.)

Mom: I understand you my boy. All you have to do is to just be yourself and listen to all your teachers. I want you to keep up with the excellence you had back at Moleli. Remember you were a head boy and just feel like that here too. You are my hero and I know you will never disappoint me in any way. (She said that holding both of my shoulders and looking right into my eyes. I was now less nervous with that and I had a little courage.)

The bell for the assembly rang and we went to the assembly, I was feeling so lonely, I then remembered that whatever I was doing now was for my friendship with Shennie. I then stood with these other two guys and they looked friendly. The other said that his name was Wilson and the other was Bradley.

The announcements were given and prefects were called to the stage. I was getting bored by all this now but something caught my ears, "Our head girl Shennie Arti Zholy". These words kept running through my mind. I can't believe that she was the head girl of the school. But she deserves the position because the last time I checked she was very brilliant. I looked up to the stage and everything started playing in slow motion.

My jaws just dropped, how can someone grow to be so beautiful in just 2 and a half years. She had glistening skin, she had an ebony black hair now which looked gorgeous on her and her body had changed a lot. She was now not that thin, she was wasp-waisted and curves were visible in those slacks she was wearing. She had very promising curves and I can't get over her soothing voice when she said, "Thank you", on that stage. The moon's delicate light had just turned the world a flame with silver when I saw her.

I made a promise to myself right there and then that I will do everything I have to do to get my friend back. The assembly finished and I was given the room number of my class, I went straight there and it turned out that Wilson who was just announced as the head boy and Bradley were both my classmates. I then went to seat with them.

I don't know if its only me but girls were drooling over me and I was the main subject at school. Our class teacher came in and I was the only new comer in our class so I introduced myself to my mates and they all clapped hands. Not bad!
We had our lessons and now it was time for break, time for my mission. I didn't know anything about the school so I needed some guidance and I thought that Wilson was the best.

Me: Wil buddy! Do you know where Shennie's class is, I mean your head girl. (I was hesitant)

Wilson: Yes, she is in green. What do you want from her? (Ok, that's awkward.)

Me: I am her friend back home and I promised I will see her at break time. (He raised his eyebrow.)

Wilson: Ok, at break time she is not usually in class, we all go to the DH. And I know their usual spot.

Me: Thank you man! (I then rushed out as if I knew where their usual spot was, I came back to Wil feeling a little embarrased.)

Me: Hmm do you mind coming with me. (I said lowering my head.)

Wilson: Lets go, Everyone is supposed to be in the DH after all. (He said tapping my shoulders.)

We left the class and Wilson was telling me a lot about their school. After a while, we saw Shennie and probably her friend, we walked towards them and I was becoming nervous by each second that passed. By her face expression I could tell that she was in total confusion. She was touching the base of her neck and she cocked her head. Maybe she doesn't know me anymore. I just thought to my self. When we were walking down the hall everyone was looking at us , I don't know if it's us or just me? We stopped when we were two feet away from Shennie and the girl with her. There was an awkward silence then her friend broke the silence.

Her: Hie, Wilson. You can sit with us. (She said biting her lip. Hmm Ok what's this now? We then set down, I set next to Shennie.)

Wilson: Hie, Violet. (They shook hands.)

Violet: I'm good and who's this? (She said extending her hand for a hand shake)

Me: Lanton is the name. (I shook her hand.)

Violet: Nice. Hey Shennie say something. (She was looking at Shennie.)

Wilson: Lanton here said that he is Shennie's friend. (Violet's face changed out of the blue.)

Violet: What!!! Are you Lenti?? (She screamed as if she knows me so well.)

Me: Yes, that's my other name. (I said squinting.)

Violet: OMG! The famous Lenti, Shennie's Lenti. Shennie always talks about you. The friend who went away right, when did you transfer from Moleli? (Ok, it seems as if she knows a lot about me, she must be Shennie's best friend only.)

Me: Ye-yes, my mom teaches here now , that's why I transfered. (I was a little alarmed.)

All this while Shennie was just quiet and I wasn't liking it one bit so I knelt down to get to her level since she was still sitting down.

Me: Shennie, (I sighed) I don't know what to say right now but please don't go silent on me. Im sorry for not keeping my promises, life was just not on my favour. I will explain everything to you. (A tear escaped my eye.)

Violet: Twinny please say something. Your Lenti is here now, your best friend remember. (She said to the mute Shennie.)

Me: I never meant to break all my promises believe me. (She stood up and looked at me.)

Shennie: Lenti. (It came out as a whisper.)

Me: Yes its me your best friend remember. (I said looking right into her hazel eyes.)

Shennie: Lenti! (She said touching my face as if she was trying to make sure that it was really me.)

Me: Shennie! (She threw herself into my arms and it was so warm, OMG, did she just hugged me? I was over the moon and I felt a deep connection that I had with her. It was just too deep that I couldn't understand it.)

Shennie: Why Lenti why!! (She said weeping, Wil and Vee were just staring at this scene all surprised and now we were drawing people's attention.)

Me: Im sorry friend. I will tell you everything just calm down.(It came out as a whisper.)

Shennie: You owe me one. (She said wiping her tears.)

Me: I will make it up to you. (I said with a broad grin.)

Violet: Ok, drama queen and king, are you done now. (She said laughing at us and we all ended up laughing. I already liked her.)

Shennies: Shut up!! (She said playfully)

Me: Yes, did you here her shut up. (We laughed again)

Wilson: I am totally confused here but whatever it is I am happy for you guys. (So sweet.)

Shennie: I want to know everything Lenti, I mean every little detail. Why and how did you end up here. I want an ice-cream for almost giving me a heart attack. (She said pouting her lips and folding her arms.)

Me: Consider it all done, I will tell you everything tomorrow, alright, Pickle. (I know her mom calls her that and she doesn't like it one bit.)

Shennie: No!!! Lenti that's not fair now you are going to bring me a chocolate too. (She said giggling. That's when I realized how much I had missed her, all her giggles, pouts, smiles and just her presence makes me go crazy.)

Me: No! You are still the same, I thought you would've changed a bit. (We both laughed. Wilson and Violet were talking to each other whilst we were talking.)

Shennie: You know I will never change.

Me: Actually, you have changed, like see how granny you look now. (I said mocking her and she was angry at me.)

Shennie: That's not funny. (She looked down and I raised her chin for her to look at me.)

Me: You know I was just joking, you look so gorgeous, elagant, cute and you will always look good even when you are in your late 80's. (I just managed to make her blush.)

Shennie: Stop, I can't take it anymore now, the complement's are just too much. (We both smiled and I knew that I had now found my missing soul. I don't know if this is what they call love but I just don't want to lose Shennie ever again.)

The bell rang and we then parted ways. It was so great meeting with Shennie after so many years. Im glad that she didn't forget me at all. The feelings I had were strange and wonderful at the same time. I feel unusually optimistic and I want to see Shennie happy.
