Shennie stood up from her chair and her eyes met with Lentis. She could feel her body lose energy like she was about to faint, she never saw this day coming. All her feelings were revived again she felt like jumping on Lenti and give him a kiss that will make him lose his senses. She missed her Lenti she missed how he used to call her his NayNay. She missed the hugs, kisses and the way Lenti holds her tiny waist in a particular way. All the memories she had with Lenti came back to her. This is the moment that she knew how much she had missed Lenti and how much she still loves him. She looked deep into Lenti’s eyes and what she saw made her feel guilty. She saw the hurt in Lenti’s eyes and the broken heart was so visible on his splotchy face.

On the other hand Lenti was having missed emotions. He was happy to finally see his NayNay after so many years but was sad to see her with another guy. He was so hurt that he couldn’t even pretend like everything was okay. He felt betrayed since Shennie had promised to wait for him. The only memory that came to his mind is the one Shennie made a promise to wait for him. He trusted her completely but now the trust was broken. By the looks of things it was so evident to Lenti that the guy that was with Shennie was her boyfriend and to make matters worse the guy (Tadiwa) said the Babe word in front of Lenti and that broke Lenti into a thousand pieces.

“Babe Young Vinly! You are his biggest fan babe”, Tadiwa yelled holding Shennie’s shoulder with a grin on his face.

“Ummm…ye,,,yes”, Shennie was stuttering with her eyes glued on Lenti.

“I’m so happy to meet you  YV my girlfriend here is so mad about you, sometimes I even think she loves you more than me anyways I’m Tadiwa”, Tadiwa said sarcastically and he laughed but no one laughed with him and that got him worried in some type of way.

“Oh really”, Lenti answered Tadiwa wincing.

“Brother!”, Kaylin shouted coming to Lenti and everyone looked at her.

“OMG! Sis Shennie”, Kaylin screamed going straight to Shennie and hugged her so tightly.

“Kay”, Shennie whispered hugging her back.

“You look so gorgeous sis”, Kaylin commented breaking the hug.

“But not more than Miss Kaylin here”, Shennie said trying so hard to act normal.

“Yes of cause, how are you sir”, she said shaking hands with Tadiwa.

“I’m good how are you”, Tadiwa answered.

“I’m more than good my brother is back for good, what more would I want”, Kaylin said all jolly, she was so bubbly but lovely too.

When Shennie heard about Lenti being back for good her heart skipped a bit, like she haven’t been following much about Lenti on internet ever since the night of the party that ruined everything. Her heart was rejoicing but her mind was reminding her of that night.

“You talk too much Kay”, Lenti said looking at his sister.

“I’m just happy to meet my future sister in-law here”, Kaylin gushed out with a wide smile on her face.

“Future what…”, Tadiwa asked looking at Kaylin then at Shennie he was so confused now.

“Oh, nothing don’t mind this one, where’s the ice-cream”, Lenti asked Kay changing the subject.

“Oh, that was the reason I came here at the first place I forgot the pin”, Kaylin pouted her lips.

“Oh, Grandma Kaylin”, Lenti said rolling his eyes dramatically.

“No, Shennie see how he abuses me”, Kay said giving Shennie puppy eyes.

“Ummm…”, Shennie didn’t know what to say, she was still in confusion about this whole Lenti thing.

“Ok, guys have fun it was nice to meet you Tadiwa. Let’s go”, after Lenti said that they went to the counter and Kay bought her ice-cream and forced Lenti to buy one too.

Lenti walked out of the Cream Inn with a very heavy heart he wanted to make a scene but because all eyes are always on him he couldn’t do anything. His anger was in 360*c. Kaylin noticed that too but she just couldn’t get herself to ask her brother if he was okay. She knew exactly what was happening, she was not still that 6 year old little sis anymore. She knew that there was trouble in paradise and her being a great fan of Shennie she didn’t want to take sides that’s why she just kept quiet. They walked to the car and Lenti drove home in 240km/hr.

|Shennie POV|

I stood still as I watched Lenti walking out of the Cream Inn. My heart was telling me to run after him but my mind was telling me to ignore everything and all the things that Vee told me after I came out of the hospital kept ringing in my head. “I saw Lanton at the hospital and he was carrying another girl in his arms Arti, just forget about him and move on. I hate to see you like this”, those were Vee’s words running in my mind right now but as you know the heart wants what it wants. I ran out of the shop like a mad woman and I didn’t even care about the stares people were giving me. People may think that maybe I’m just a crazy fan. I ran going to the parking lot. I was too late, I didn’t find him. He just vanished into thin air just like that.

“Shennie!”, Tadie shouted running after me.

“What’s wrong with you! Are you crazy!”, Tadiwa yelled at me as he finally reached where I was trying to catch his breath.

“…….”, I just kept quiet I wasn’t familiar with these kind of high tones even my own father never shouted at me like this.

“Are you really that much of YV’s fun that you run after him like that, living me looking like a fool!”, Tadie kept yelling at me but I just kept quiet until I feel a hot slap on my right cheek.

“What the!!!”, I shouted trying to slap him back but he holds my hand before it even gets to his cheek.

“Don’t you dare woman! When I’m talking you must talk with me, I hate it when people answer me with silence”, Tadiwa shouted with his eyes shot red, he was a monster people! I was so scared right now. Where is the sweet Tadiwa who was begging me for months to be his girlfriend. Where is the Tadiwa that I liked.

“Youuu….”, I stammered looking deep into his eyes and people were just looking at us as if we were crazy, hella we were crazy I guess!

“Look Shennie I’m sorry okay, I didn’t mean to slap you. I’m sorry”, he said wiping a tear from my cheek, so his senses were back now MXM!

“You know what Tadiwa, I won’t say anything to you just that you and me this little thing we had. It’s OVER”, I sobbed and took two steps back and I walked away until he grabbed my arm.

“It’s not over until I say so”, Tadiwa cautioned with bulging eyes. I hate it so much when people try to control my life and I so hate Tadiwa right now.

“I was the one who said yes in the first place so I have the right to take back my yes Mr Tadiwa Chivere. You don’t get to tell me what I should or shouldn’t do, you are not my mot….”, before I finished my sentence another hot slap landed on my cheek and when he wanted to slap me again someone came and hold his abusive hand while I screamed my lungs out getting my muscles ready for another slap.

“Don’t you even try it again!”, the guy with a familiar voice bellowed coming between me and Tadiwa.

“Mr Saviour get out of my way right now or else..”, Tadiwa shouted.

“Or what huh! You going to hit me too. Piss off man. I’m so disgusted to know that on this 20th century they are still men who beat up women just that they gave them the damn opportunity to date men like you”, when he talked more that’s when I realised that it was Oscar, I was so happy that he came to my rescue not like these stupid people who were just staring at me.

“Ok preacher thank you so much for the free lecture, please let me talk to my woman now”, Tadiwa said trying to get Oscar out of the way but Oscar didn’t move.

“As far as I heard she told you that it’s over so literally right now man she’s not your woman”, Oscar rebuked, he was giving him what he really deserved.

“Oscar let’s go”, I sobbed touching Oscar’s hand.

“You know this punk Shennie! Woman don’t you try me, is he your boyfriend cause as far as I know you don’t have any brother’s and you don’t have any fucken friend called Oscar!”, Tadiwa snapped while his veins were popping out from his neck and fore head, he looked scary but Oscar didn’t look intimidated by all that.

“Man just leave Shennie alone and don’t bother her ever again”, Oscar said and we walked away, he’d had enough now.

“And one more thing, try to do anything stupid then you are behind bars for abuse. And how many years are that in jail Shennie?’, Oscar chuckled as we stopped and turn back at him.

“5 years but with the kind of father I have you will be locked for 20 good years”, I chucked too and we walked to Oscar’s car living Tadiwa standing there with his angry arse.

I was so grateful to Oscar. He came at the right time to save my ass. He kept asking me how I ended up with such an abusive man but I was still in shock myself. I changed the subject and asked him what he was doing in town. He was visiting his uncle who also lived in Boltong and by the looks of things he was going to Mr Dube’s house turned out that he was his uncle. Remember the holiday lessons that I attended when I was in the 4th grade, the first place where I met Lenti. The sir was his uncle and they carried the same surname too. So he dropped me at my place and my car was to be taken by my driver I was in no state to drive at all.

I woke into the house feeling all empty I didn’t want anyone to see me. I asked Aunty Betty if anyone was home and luckily no one was home.  I went to my room and threw myself at my bed. I cried my lungs out. I wasn’t crying because of my breakup with Tadiwa but because of the way he treated me. Nobody has ever slapped me in my entire life and it had to be him first why! I hate him so much, I considered him to be my closest friend but he broke my heart which he never deserved in the first place. I was ready to give him a chance but he ruined everything. I was even willing to let go of my feelings for Lenti but now I see how I would’ve regretted that so much. My head was spinning around, the humiliation that I got today was on another level. Just imagine being slapped in front of people of all ages from kids to adults. I never pictured Tadiwa as the abusive type but I guess what they say is true after all “Don’t judge a book by its cover”.

I tried to take a nap but I just couldn’t so I went to the library and I set on my piano. I started playing the piano and you all know where the rhythm takes me. I was in my own world where only Lenti and I existed it was a planet called ‘Destined’ and everything went smoothly in that planet without any separations, any camera’s, any university, any mysterious girlfriend and any Tadiwa. I took myself into that world and it felt so right.

|Lanton POV|

I was home now and it was a miracle that we got here safely the way I was driving even a maniac will not compete. I greeted mom and grandpa who were in the lounge watching God knows what. I just went straight to my room and locked myself inside. My heart was bleeding and it felt like I was losing my senses. Shennie can’t do this to me, I love her and moreover I always stayed faithful even if I was a thousand miles away from her. I started writing a song just to make myself sane.

I wrote everything I was feeling, the song is called “NEVER KNEW” and it’s a dedication to Shennie again.

I wrote the whole song and I felt much better. I was so gonna release this song soon. It will be on my next album for sure. The way I love Shennie was just not normal it was more like an obsession and I made it a mission to win her back. The day that she becomes mine again I’m going to teach her a very good lesson for making me feel this way. I drifted to a deep sleep and when I woke up I had an email from Denzel with the picture of my supposed cousin and a bit of information just below the picture. It was now easy to find him and I was going to do that very soon.

“Lanton!”, mom shouted knocking at my door.

“Yes!”, I answered.

“Come down for dinner”, she shouted, it was already dinner time eyy! I didn’t even realise that time was flying like this.

I went down and we said our prayers and dug in.

“Mom did dad have a brother?”, I asked whilst we were still at the dining table.

“Ummm yes but unfortunately he passed away, he was such a great soul”, mom sighed.

“Did he have a family?”, I asked her as if we were in the interrogation room.

“No, he was very single that one, why are you asking this now”, she asked calmly. Now I see that sh was in so much confusion but she didn’t know it.

“I wish to see my dad one day and maybe even know his family”, Kay said looking hopeless.

“It’s ok sis, everything is going to be fine”, I assured her and then there was silence again.

After the dinner Mom and Kay washed the dishes while grandpa and I watched soccer. After a while everyone went to their respective rooms. I was now on internet I was searching for a house in Avenues Suburbs. I was scrolling down seeing houses that were for sell but I liked none of them. I wanted a brand new house though it will cost a lot I didn’t mind at all. It was high time that I get my own space even though I loved living with the family so much but as a celebrity I needed this. Finally I came across with a double story which was grey in colour. I just loved it on get go, after all I loved the colour grey. There were also pictures of its interior, it wasn’t bad but I was going to change the interior I didn’t like it. I just pressed the green button and tomorrow I was going to see the house.

I woke up early in the morning since I had my mission today. I went to mom’s room and told her about my plans and she was happy for me. I told her that they will be people coming today to renovate the house. I wanted to buy a new house for the whole family too but knowing grandpa he would never want to leave this place. He said that all the memories he had with grandpa are here within these walls so I just thought of renovating it, it will be good as new.

I drove all the way to Avenues and I was at the gate of the grey mention. I got out of the car and I saw a white lady approaching the gate. She said that she was the instate agent that was going to show me the house. We walked inside the gate it was so beautiful and there was 5km from the gate to the house so we used my car. The drive way was just something out of this world. I fell in love with it instantly. We got to the house and we walked in. She showed me every corner of this house. They were 6 bed rooms with their in suits, a colossal lounge, a glassy kitchen, a cinema room, a study room which was so spacious and some spare rooms that I was going to see what to make them. So in short downstairs they were 5 big rooms, the lounge, kitchen, dining room, a bed room and another room. The upstairs were the remaining 5 bed rooms, the cinema, the study and another room. It was very big and I wondered what I would do with 6 bed rooms guys. But they will be helpful when my family visits me. The master bed room was so huge and it had a walking wardrobe. It was just awesome. I’d kill for this house damn!

The outside had a very immense garden with roses and different flowers, Shennie would really love this. What blew my mind more is that the swimming pool was not outside the house it was on the top of the house where the Balkan was. The house cost millions but I was going to pay the money monthly and I was given a year to pay for it so I gave in and paid the first deposit. It was so fancy and in the world that I chose to live in I needed it. The competition with the other Artists was just too much but despite all that I just loved the house. It took us 3 whole hours to thoroughly look at this beast of a house, even my father’s house wouldn’t compete here. Haha I’m joking my father’s house is to extreme but though mine was unique. I signed all the documents and I was the rightful owner of this beast.

I went KFC in Avenues and guess who I saw looking all gorgeous but no happiness on her face. The one and only Miss Arti Shennie Zhloy.

I went straight to her and she was with this Trouble Violet. Violet was just too much sometimes.

“Is this seat taken”, I asked and both their eyes were on me like they saw a ghost.

“No-no”, Shennie stammered and I sat next to her.

“Hy NayNay and Drama Queen”, I said looking at Shennie then at Violet.

“Hy Mr YV the celebrity who loves green eyed girls”, Violet said and clicked her tongue, what was she on about?

“What? What green eyes are you talking about?”, I asked with a focused gaze.

“The bitch you were carrying that day when Shennie was in hospital”, Violet said rolling her eyes.

“What! Shennie was in hospital that day?”, I screamed looking at Shennie.

“Why are you talking about the past now Vee just forget it”, Shennie said eating her drum stick meat she looked pale though.

“Why do you always let things slide Arti, you also let things slide with that Tadiwa snob”, Violet gushed out, she was way too talkative and I wasn’t getting anything here. She thought that Kay was my girlfriend?

“Slow down DQ, let me get one thing straight here. You said I like woman with green eyes are you referring that to my sister that I was carrying that day in the hospital?”, I asked looking at her with shot red eyes. She’s so forward.

“She’s your sister? Man don’t lie, Shennie I told you he’s just a liar”, Violet said eating her chips dramatically.

“He’s not lying, it was his sister. His sister have green eyes Vee”, Shennie said looking down. So they were discussing me all this while and they had everything so wrong. Women!

“What!”, Violet shouted and she drew people’s attention which I was trying so hard to not happen. Now people were taking snaps and some girls came to take snaps with me some only wanted my autograph.

“See what you’ve caused with that big mouth of you”, I said looking at Violet so bored.

“Is it my fault that you are a celebrity”, she asked and I just sighed in defeat.

“NayNay why are you so quiet”, I asked holding her shoulder and she was jumpy. I don’t know why.

“It’s nothing”, she answered with a blank stare.

“Arti sis I’m sorry for misunderstanding the whole thing with Lanton. I thought it was his girl friend, like the way he was carrying her in his arms”, Violet tried to explain herself.

“It’s ok Vee “, Shennie said giving her a faint smile, something was not right here.

“Why was she in the hospital in the first place?”, I asked curiously.

“I was involved in an accident, a car hit me but it was all my fault though”, Shennie said pressing her lips together.

“OMG! NayNay you mean a purple Audi 3 car?”, I said with my eyes all popped out, it can’t be true.

“Yes, they said an 18 year old girl was driving it and she was in shock. I feel guilty”, Shennie said and it was confirmed my suspicions were correct.

“It was Kaylin, she was driving that car”, I said burying my head in my hands.

“That is why she was also in hospital that day, I feel so stupid right now”, Violet said so calmly, it almost shocked me that she can speak calmly.

“I’m so sorry, I will have to talk with her Lenti”, Shennie said looking all regretful, my mind was only on the Lenti part she still calls me that. To be frank I missed it a lot.

“It’s ok NayNay, she was also feeling guilty about the whole thing. She even called the hospital to check up on you but you were already discharged. Don’t blame yourself, I’m just glad that you are fine”, I said raising her chin.

“Young Vinly!!!”, there were people at the door who started screaming coming to our table.

“I hate my life, Geez! Let’s get out of here”, I said grabbing Shennie’s hand and people started taking pictures of us holding hands.

We walked out and the three of us ran to my car and got in.

“OMG! I’m going to be famous pretty soon”, Violet gushed out so dramatically.

“You are crazy”, Shennie said laughing at her, I missed that laugh. I missed her so much.

“I missed you so much NayNay”, I just said that out of the blue and there was awkward silence in the car.

“Why didn’t you keep your promise, just tell me a good reason why you didn’t keep it”, I asked getting all emotional.

“I-I….”, she stuttered looking deep into my eyes and a tear escaped her eye.

“Let me tell you everything”, Violet said at the back seat looking all serious. That was new.

*****NARATION****

Violet was feeling all guilty she was the one pushing Shennie to date all this while. She was the one who advised her on saying yes to Tadiwa. She truly knew how much Shennie loved Lanton but still she insisted, to her she was just helping her friend but she was killing her too. She just felt in her heart that it was up to her to make things right. It was her duty to bring back Lanton into Shennie’s life.

“First of all I want to apologise to you Shennie for always being pushy, I wanted you to forget about Lanton. It has been 4 years since he had gone away and on top of that he became a well-known artist. I just concluded in my mind that he was gone for good and I didn’t want you to be broken when you find out that maybe he had moved on. I wanted you to move on with your life and to not hold it back. I shouldn’t have done that, especially when I knew how much you loved each other. And Lanton don’t ever say that Shennie didn’t keep her promise. She kept her promise for the past years you’ve been apart. She always rejected every proposal that came to her even uncle I mean her father tried to hook her up with his best friend’s son but she denied all that in the name of “Keeping the promise I made to Lanton’ she was so faithful and she always will be”, Violet explained sobbing. She felt relieved though.

“So this whole Tadiwa thing?”, Lanton asked partially opening his lips.

“I pushed the whole thing. We went to Godwin’s graduation party , Shennie was so excited that finally she was going to see you. When the party was about to end that is when you said that the song you sang for Arti was in the past and she felt like you were saying that she was also your past. And on my side I thought that finally I had knocked sense into her head. That was the week she accepted that bustards proposal”, Violet said grinding her teeth as she said the last sentence.

Lenti was shocked at all this and he was left with no say at all. This whole thing was so complicated. This is the way that people end up separating, it’s all because of MISUNDERSTANDINGS!
