Shennie POV

I woke up in a very uncomfortable bed and I was hearing beeping sounds. The smell in this room was so weird and I didn’t like it at all. My head was so heavy when I tried to sit up straight I just couldn’t. after some minutes of struggling to open my eyes I heard someone calling my name and the voice was very familiar.

“Chommie, Arti can you hear me?”, it was Violet shouting and she was shaking me.

“Doctor!”, she shouted and I heard footsteps coming inside the room and someone opened my left eye, I guess that’s the doctor.

“What happened”, the doctor asked.

“She moved doctor”, Vee sobbed telling the doctor.

“Don’t worry Miss she has regained consciousness but she is very weak though so I am going to give her this injection which helps in increasing ones energy”, the doctor said and I could hear Violet’s sniffs. Darn it! For how long have I been in this hospital people?

“Ok, ok thank you doctor just do whatever you have to do I need my sister back”, Vee sobbed and her sobs were just making me feel pain in my heart, I just had to wake up.

I was fighting with myself to wake up until the doctor came and he injected me. I wanted to scream but I had no energy at all, I hate injections with all my heart and I’m sure that a lot of people can relate.

“Wake up twinny you can’t do this to me, I need you. You are the only friend I have and the best person I can ever have in my life. Please wake up”, she sighed holding my hand tightly and I just squeezed her hand.

“Arti! Can you hear me?”, she asked jumping off the bed squeezing my hand tighter.

I started feeling a little strength in me maybe it was the injection that was helping me. I then opened my eyes and they met with Vee’s glassy eyes.

“Arti!”, she screamed hugging me.

“Wa-water”, I gasped.

“Sorry, ok drink”, she gushed taking a glass of water and she helped drink it.

“Vee”, I mumbled, I was so emotional, I don’t know what happened exactly. The only thing I remember was me going to a graduation party and Lenti sang my song. Then he said that I’m from the past and then I ran out of the hotel, OMG! And then a car flashed right into my eyes and suddenly it was lights out for me.

“Don’t talk Twinny”, she said wiping my mouth with a baby towel.

“Wha-tttt happe----ned “, I stammered my voice was still crushed.

“You were involved in an accident, you ran into a car Twinny and it hit you. I called your mom and she must be already on her way already”, she explained everything so fast without even breathing.

“Sl---ow d---own Vee, how long have I been here?”, I said moving to find a better sleeping position.

“For 5 hours now, but don’t worry everything is fine ok”, she babbled.

“Oh, Pi—ckle!”, a sweet and melodious voice said at the entrance door and you already know who it was.

“M-om”, I cried opening my arms and in a blink of an eye my mom was hugging me so tightly crying and that made me cry too.

“Baby”, dad said also coming to hug me, ayyy I was loved guys.

After a few minutes we finally broke the hug.

“Pickle don’t ever scare me like that baby”, mom sniffed as she touched my head which was bandaged.

“I’m fine mom, it was just a minor injury”, I sniffed too.

“What happened exactly?”, My father asked looking at me then at Vee.

“I don’t know uncle but she was running like a mad woman and I followed her, she was about to cross the Crown plaza main road and then everything happened so fast, and a car hit her luckily the driver quickly stopped but Arti fell on the tar and that is when she had a head injury”, Vee explained everything to mom and dad.

“What were you two doing at Crown Plaza I thought you were at the beach house”, mom asked sitting on my bed.

“We went there for a graduation party of the president’s son”, I said trying to cover up everything. I didn’t even tell mom and dad that I would be going there today.

“Oh I heard about the party too but why would you go there?”, dad asked looking all serious.

“Umm, uncle all the students from The Closure University were invited to come to the party so we went too, we should’ve told you”, Vee said pouting her lips.

“Yes girls you should’ve told me or your dad, you acted so carelessly today. I thought that maybe you had grown up but clearly you are still those little Barbie girls”, mom said with a rigid expression.

“But mom we told sis Ellain and brother in-law”, I said looking down.

“Ok, ok girls just know that your vacation has ended today we are all going home”, dad said with so much authority, haibo! We still had 3 weeks before we open schools and we didn’t even have enough time to enjoy this vacation.

“But Dad…..”, I didn’t get to finish my sentence.

“No if’s and but’s Arti you are coming back and that’s it what if something big had happened to you or Vee. I wouldn’t have forgiven myself”, mom said looking at both me and Vee, it was over! She used emotional blackmail on us and you can never say no to Arti Senior when she is like this.

The next day I was discharged and mom had spent the entire night with me. We all drove to the beach house, Vee and I both packed our important things. We left some cloths there since we were planning on coming back the next vacation. We drove back home in Boltong and I can’t say that I was sad to be home because I had missed home very much. Vee and I settled in my room, I slept immediately since the doctor had told me to rest.

After a while I woke up and Vee was on a video chat with her boyfriend. Eyy these two were madly in love and that is when I finally thought about what happened at the party. I didn’t say anything I just felt something wet on my cheek, it was a tear drop. I quickly wiped it I didn’t want to spoil my Twinny’s happy soul right now.

“Hie son in-law”, I said sarcastically and Vee just laughed at me.

“Hie mother in-law”, Oscar answered me and we all laughed.

I just loved Oscar for my Violet, he was such a cool guy and  I was so certain that he loved Vee so much. Oscar came from a good family, he was the son of Mr Ryan Dube who was the CEO of Dube Fashion Trend. They lived in Norton which is only 40km away from town and 50km away from Boltong where Violet and I lived. So these two could have dates and because I didn’t want to be a third wheel I would just stay behind. I wasn’t ready to have a boyfriend but after what Lenti said at the party I was ready to give it a try.

Anyways we ended the video call with Oscar and my mom called us for dinner, we had dinner as a family but before we even touched the food we went on a zoom meeting and invited Cherry, Ellain and Veronica (Violet’s sister). In less than a minute everyone was in the meeting and we put them on video.

“Dears”, mom said waving.

“Hello mommy”, Ellain, Paris and Cherry screamed as if they were seeing Chuck Noris himself.

“Hy aunty”, Veronica said smiling from ear to ear.

“Hello my babies”, mom said smiling.

“So we are invisible”, Vee and I said pouting our lips.

“We cannot see you guys, the beach house turned you all into darkies. We can only see mom and dad, hello dad”, Cherry said sarcastically and we all laughed.

“You can say that again Cherry”, Veronica said still laughing at us. Really have we become darker than before?

“Oh, you guys don’t know anything they say black is beautiful so you are just saying that my baby sisters have become more beautiful”, Ellain said, Vee and I high fived each other.

“Wise words from a wise big sister”, I smirked.

“Enough, enough people I’m getting hungry here”, dad chuckled.

“Yes, let us do what we invited you for. Let’s all eat this luscious food together guys”, I said moving the phone’s camera to the food that mom had slaved herself in the kitchen cooking.

“Wow!”, everyone said looking all hungry now.

“Yes dears, let’s dig in now”, dad said already taking a spoon into his mouth.

“No, this is unfair guys”, Cherry complained.

“No uncle you just decided to eat without me that’s so not like you”, Veronica pouted her lips dramatically, everyone was acting 16 in here. Funny!

“But Vero you are here and you can see the food darling”, dad chuckled and we all laughed at her.

“I’m coming right now”, Ellain said standing up we could see her phone moving.

“And who’s going to cook for your husband Mrs Pregy?”, Paris said and everyone’s eyes popped out.

“What?”, Mom, dad and I yelled holding the phone closer to us, like we didn’t hear properly.

“Oh, no it was just a slip of a tongue”, Paris urged.

“Paris man!”, Ellain shouted.

“Ellain are you pregnant?”, mom asked raising her eye brow.

“It was supposed to be a surprise and now Paris just ruined everything”, Ellain mumbled like a baby.

“Am sorry sis”, Paris said pouting her lips.

“We gonna be grandparents papi!”, mom screamed hugging dad and everybody was back to the happy mood.

“We are going to be aunts Vee!”, I also screamed hugging Vee.

The news of a new addition to the family made us all so excited and the zoom meeting lasted for much longer than we had expected. We ate at that zoom meeting and it felt like we were all together at the dining table. Ellain kept saying about how unfair we were for eating right at her face, I think it’s the pregnancy, she was acting all childish and I’m feeling sorry for my bro in-law. It’s gonna be a long 9 months. We were all happy and for some moment there I forgot all about Lenti and the heartbreak. I loved my family and they loved me too, so that was more than enough for me.

****A week later****

Finally I am in a relationship guys and Vee is now over my case yoh! She has been a pain in the ass that one and it’s a pity that she had gone back home yesterday, I already miss her crazy arse. I finally accepted Tadiwa’s proposal. He has been asking me out for a long time now and I was just thinking that maybe he can be my pain killer so I gave in. Tadiwa is dark in complexion, he has a body to die for and he’s very handsome but it’s a pity that he is not Lenti though. But anyways I’m giving him a chance he seems serious though, oh what am I saying the guy is 24 years after all obviously he will be serious. So today is going to be our second date guys the first date wasn’t that exciting because we both were so shy but this time it’s going to be lit I guess.

I woke up to this annoying alarm of mine and I just switched it off. I dragged myself to the bathing room and I did my morning hygiene. The date was in the afternoon so I had time to prepare.
“Pickle!”, mom shouted from God knows where.

“Am coming!”, I said already leaving my room and I went downstairs. She was walking to the dining table where dad was.

“Morning fam”, I yawned sitting next to mom.

“Morning baby”, they both answered.

“Mom how old am I?”, I said raising my right eyebrow.

“It’s your years you should be the one knowing that”, she said pouring her Orange juice.

“Yes mom but I just want to see if you know that I’m way too old now to be called Pickle”, I said tweezing my eyebrows and dad just chuckled.

“You will always be my Pickle even if you have children of your own one day”, she said looking straight into my eyes and that is when I knew that I am forever mommy’s little Pickle to her.

The afternoon came and I had dressed to kill guys. I wore my black NIKE bottom, a lime green hoodie, a black NIKE cap and lime green NIKE kicks. I took my black sling bag and grabbed my car keys then I was off.

I drove myself to McDonalds in town and I saw Tadiwa already waiting there for me at a table in the corner. I walked to where he was.

“I’m sorry for keeping you waiting”, I said sitting down.

“If only you hadn’t refused to be taken at home babe”, he said scanning me.

“You know how much I like driving myself Tadie, anyways how’s the Mr here”, I said giving him a one sided smile.

“The Mr is fine only if the Mrs is fine”, he smirked.

“It’s Miss Tadie not Mrs remember”, I said showing him my left hand which didn’t have any ring on it.

“Oh, I mean soon to be Mrs”, he said with a grin on his face and no guys I didn’t even blush.

“Haha, anyways what are we having here”, I said looking at the menu on the table.

“Pick whatever you like babe”, he said whilst calling for the waitress.

“Hello sir, hello maam. Am at your service”, the waitress said smiling.

“Umm, give me lasagne, fresh chips and beef stew with chilli and lemon juice”, he placed his order.

“Ok sir, and you maam?”, she smiles looking at me now.

“Ummm, I’ll just have the same but no chilli for me in the stew and I want Pine apple juice”, I said and the waitress nodded and went away. 

“Why don’t you like chilli babe?”, he asked looking at me.

“I just don’t like it”, I answered back.

Our order just came and we dug in over a light conversation. To be frank guys I really don’t love Tadiwa I only like him as a friend. I feel like I’m using him or something but right now I wish I was with Lenti and not him. I just can’t get myself to love him even if I want to. My heart only beats for Lenti, I don’t know what he did to me but he was the only guy that I love and I felt like telling Tadiwa the truth but I just didn’t want to break his heart, he seemed so sincere and I just couldn’t bring myself to breakup with him. Anyways I won’t do it because there is no one to fight for, Lenti is busy enjoying himself in SA being the famous singer and I’m here being stuck by a teenage love story that ended years ago. As Lenti said it was just the thing of the past, no need to get too attached to it.

We finished our meal and it was very delicious.

“Let’s go to Cream Inn, I really want a strawberry Ice-cream right now”, I pouted my lips giving Tadie puppy eyes.

“Really Shennie trying to blackmail me with that”, he chuckled.

“Did it work then?”, I asked laughing softly.

“It did, let’s bounce then”, he said standing up and I wanted to pay the bill but the Mr here got all mad at me and I let him pay at last.

“Please babe don’t embarrass me like that ever again”, he said looking all serious as we were now at the parking lot.

“But….”, I didn’t get to finish my statement he cut me.

“But nothing Shennie if I’m taking you out it means that I am also going to be the one paying for the bills or any expense”, he said looking deep into my eyes and I just gave up.

“Ok, ok, I heard you. Let’s go now”, I said grabbing his hand.

We used his car to go to Cream Inn and we got there after a few minutes it wasn’t that far for McDonalds. We got in and I ordered a 1 litre strawberry ice-cream and Tadie didn’t order anything he said ice-cream are for kids can you believe it? He was such a bore.

“Mmmm, I see you still like strawberry”, a bold voice said behind me and when I turned to look who it was OMG! It’s unbelievable.

**Lanton POV**

I arrived at the SA Music Firm and there were camera’s all over the place and people started taking pictured whilst some journalists were busy following me asking many questions. Ugh! If it wasn’t for Sandy being there I would’ve run mad by now, this was so annoying but I don’t hate my fans though.

I walked into the building and the paparazzi  was left outside then I removed my glasses.

“Mr YV this way”, a woman with a very angelic voice said and she led the way.

We walked into a very large room with two black couches that faced each other, that is where the interviews are usually done and after a few minutes we were live on TV.

“Good afternoon, this is Faith Masiiwa reporting live at SA Music Fame, please join me  with the famous artist that originally comes from Zimbabwe but he started his career here in SA Mr Young Vinly. Nice to have you here with us”, Faith said looking at me now.

“It’s a pleasure Mrs Faith”, I answered. Since this whole thing was going to be only about questions and answers.

“So Mr YV we heard that you are leaving the country and going back to your birth country, is that true”, she asked.

“Not really Mrs Faith SA is actually my birth country so I’m going back to where I was raised”, I answered with no doubt whatsoever.

“Oh, that’s new nobody knew that you are originally a South African by birth. So you are permanently leaving SA Music Firm?”, she asked raising her eyebrow.

“It’s not like I’m leaving the Firm I am just extending my career”, I answered carefully I didn’t want to lose any fans here in SA.

“Ok, so what made you decide on going back to Zim?”, she asked and that was a difficult question for me.

“Umm, I just want to be with my loved ones, my whole life is back in Zimbabwe and the past years have been great but I feel like it would’ve been greater if I was with my family and moreover I just want to develop my country into a better place concerning the music and people’s talents”, I answered and I just saw Faith blinking rapidly, did I just say the right thing?

“Oh, you’ve left me stunned Mr YV and people have been eager to know where you got the name Young Vinly from. Do you mind telling the world that particular detail?”, she said with facial tics.

“I really don’t mind. I had a friend whose name was Vinly Rolse he was my best friend when I was only 3 years old. He had passion in music and we would both sing together and make our lives lit with music. We were both talented and we would always say that one day we will become the Most Popular Musicians across the whole of Africa. We dreamt of becoming stars together even though he was 6 years older than me our friendship was the best friendship ever and he was my ride or die but unfortunately Destiny stole him from me. He passed away and I made a promise to myself that when I get famous I will get every single prize and praise in his name so I named myself Young Vinly”, I sighed and took a deep breath as I finished explaining where exactly the name YV came from. To be frank I’d never told anyone about this story because it was very sensitive to me but right now I feel like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders.

“What a touching story, I wish all the people out there had friends like you. It is really hard to find friends who are this faithful even when you die they always cherish you. It looks like Mr YV here does not only have good looks but also good heart”, she said praising me and I chuckled.

“One last question, people also want to know the real name of Mr YV”, she asked.

“Oh, it’s Lanton Johnson”, I answered and Faith smiled.

“Thank you Mr Johnson it was an honour having you live on TV, I hope you have a great flight back to Zimbabwe. Stay tuned on WWC”, she said and the cameras went off.

“That went well Mrs faith”, I said hugging her professionally.

“It’s Miss by the way”, Faith whispered and I was left speechless.

Anyways the interview was great and finally I was able to leave SA with a free soul. Finally I had to leave everything behind and build my own Fame back at home, I just pray that everything works out perfectly.

~~~~A week and half later~~~~

I had finally settled at home back in Boltong. The first thing I did when I arrived at home was to take a walk to Naynay’s house but I didn’t find the guts to go inside or to even press the intercom so I turned back. Since it was school holidays my baby sis was home so we had lots and lots of fun together. And I was happy that grandpa’s health was stable now the last time I left him my heart was filled with hurt and I had lost hope but it looks like God has other plans for us. My mom on the other hand was on cloud 9 that I had decided to finally come home for good. My heart was so content and I just knew that this is where I belong.

This morning I woke up feeling so lazy and I did my morning routine. I went downstairs for breakfast and the whole family was already there. We ate over a light conversation, I hadn’t told my mom about the whole cousin thing I still had to gather some evidence. So I planned on meeting my cousin first and Denzel was already searching for more information about him.
“Brother I want us to go out today”, Kaylin said looking all happy.

“Anything for my baby sis”, I said taking a bite of my bread and backon.

“Yay!, okay first we will go for shopping and then we will have lots and lots of food”, she gushed out loud. How I had missed this soul.

“Eyy, and you going to leave your grandpa bored at home”, grandpa said faking a sob.

“The old folks will be left behind today, we will take you out tomorrow for dinner”, I said with a broad chin.

“Me I’m not old, see me I’m all young and beautiful”, my smiled faking a blush. Drama Queen!

“Yes mom you are the most gorgeous woman I have ever come across”, I smirked.

“What about me, everybody says I’m cute and guess what ever since I posted our snaps I now have 1.2Million followers”, Kaylin said blinking dramatically.

“Yes, it’s all thanks to me, the famous brother”, I chuckled and the family just laughed.

This is how I want my family to be and I just wondered how happier we would’ve been with father here at home too. I really had to find this cousin of mine sooner rather than later.

After the breakfast we prepared to go out with my baby sis. Ever since I came here I haven’t gone out. I just hate the attention and people treating me differently but anyways I had to go out one way or the other. So I wore my black jeans, white hoodie and my white vans. I was ready to go and I came to the lounge and Kaylin was not there yet so I went to her room. I walked into her room and she was still putting on her shoes.

“Really Kay?”, I asked walking inside.

“Sorry bro but a girl gotta look good neh”, she said winking at me.

“Yaya, whatever let me help you with that”, I said and I helped her to put on her heels.

“Thank you so much brother, I love you so much”, she said hugging me.

“And I love you a million times baby sis”, I said hugging her back tighter.

“I wish dad was here too, I think he would’ve loved me just like you do”, she said breaking the hug and looking down.

“What if I tell you that dad will come soon and we will live as a joined happy family”, I asked raisng her chin up to look at me.

“Then I would be the happiest and luckiest girl on earth”, she said with a puffy face.

“And I make a promise to you baby, all your wishes will be granted by your geny here”, I said pointing at myself.

“My geny in the bottle”, she said letting out a tear.

“Yes your superman”, I said wiping away the tears in her eyes.

“My superman, piggyback me to the car”, she said giving me her puppy eyes.

“Superman right on service”, I laughed carrying her on my back, I just loved her.

We were now in the car and we headed straight to town.

“Did you get a chance to talk to that lady baby sis”, I asked Kay in the car.

“No brother but I called the hospital and they said that she was conscious, they said they discharged her the day you went back to SA”, she answered looking all relieved.

“That means that she just had a small injury, I told you baby. You were worrying for no reason”, I chuckled and parked the car.

We got in town and I wore my glasses at least some people will not see that it’s me. We went to do our shopping in Edgars and my baby sis was picking everything she likes. I just wanna spoil her since I couldn’t do that the past years but now that I have the money why not spoil my baby sis? She bought the whole shop I’m telling you but I didn’t complain at all it’s better for her to spent my money than to spent some asshole’s money out there.

Finally we went to Cream Inn, she requested it and today she was the queen so I was agreeing to everything she said. We walked into the Cream Inn and I spotted my NayNay looking all happy with some nigga. My heart was about to explode, like I really was feeling my beast waking up. Did she forget about me already? This was not good at all.

“Brother are you ok”, Kaylin said touching my shoulder and I snapped out of my thoughts.

“Ye-yes baby buy what you want I’m coming back soon”, I said giving her my black card.

“But…..”, she said something but I didn’t wait for her to finish I just walked right straight to where Shennie was.

“Mmmm, I see you still like strawberry”, I said as I stood right behind her cahir.
