Lanton POV

When I walked to the stage my heart was beating faster than usual, could it be that I am just having a stage fear but it has never happened to me. Maybe it’s because that it is my first time singing in my home country right? I went to the stage with everyone shouting my name, how I like the noise. I got to the stage and sang all my album songs that had to do with success and power. My hour had finally ended and I was happy to leave the stage knowing that I nailed it but people wanted some more and I didn’t want to disappoint. So I sang “I MISS YOU”, my first song and I felt some type of way. I just had flash backs of my NayNay, I hope that she hasn’t moved on otherwise there will be blood shed during day light.

I don’t know what is wrong with this Trinity girl, she was so annoying and I hate how she is throwing herself on me. I’m not even interested in her or any other girl for that matter except for Shennie. When my time was over I saw someone’s back view heading towards the exit door. The girl looked so much like Shennie. I know I haven’t met her for years now but my heart knows her. I kept looking at the girl and she was running, I got off stage quickly and tried to run after her but this Trinity girl stopped me.

“Oh, where are you rushing to YV the night is still young”, she said biting her lower lip. This girl is going to make me angry now, she is far away from the woman of my dreams. I like my woman beautiful, with curves not these bones I am seeing and I like them simple with no any heavy makeup.

“See, I’m coming back soon”, I said so fast and ran to the exit door but I didn’t see anyone. Darn you Trinity!

“Are you okay sir?”, Sandy asked me and I just nodded.

“Sir, you need to bid fare well to the president’s son”, she said blushing, was she kidding me right now?

“Oh, why does it seem like you are the one who wants to do say bye to him”, I smirked at her, the little girl has a crush shame.

“No, no sir. I’m just….”, she stammered and I just wanted to laugh at this moment.

“And you can even go with him to Italy right”, I gushed out making fun of her. The president’s son was going to Italy to further his studies so sorry to Miss Crushing here.

“No, no sir”, she looked down and I just laughed my lungs out mocking her and she ended up laughing with me.

“You can laugh?”, she murmured looking at me. It’s the first time she’s seeing me like this.

“Don’t get used to it”, I said going back to my serious self again.

We went back inside and Godwin was standing with his friends and Trinity, I just got irritated just by seeing her face. She made me lose that girl.

“Can we take pictures with you please”, a girl looking so gorgeous said already taking pictures with me. Oh God I didn’t even say yes yet and now this. Many girls came and took lots and lots of selfies with me. All I did was smile and smile then back again.

“Girls that’s enough now, its my turn”, Trinity said cat walking towards me and all the girls excused themselves.

Trinity started taking pictures and the last one she was kissing my cheek. That is when I stopped her, she was going too far now. I hate her guts. I finally went to Godwin.

“Hey man, I’m bouncing back now have a safe trip to Italy”, I said handshaking him.

“Thank you man, it was nice having you. I knew that everyone were going to love the idea of you coming to my party”, he said so calmly. What a cool guy, I wonder if they are real siblings with Trinity, they are so different.

“Thank you for having me here and you made me come to my home place dude”, I exclaimed and we both chuckled.

“Thanks to me then”, He said with a smirk and we said our final goodbyes with Miss Crushing blushing besides me and we left.

When we were about to exit my phone rang and it was Kaylin my little sis. It then clicked my mind that she was supposed to come at the party as my guest but I didn’t see her. I answered the call.

“Why didn’t you show up Kay”, I asked walking out of the hole.

“Bro…..”, she sobbed, she was crying. Wtf!

“Kaylin, Kay baby what’s wrong. Calm down and tell me where are you?”, I asked panicking, I hope she’s not in danger. My heart was already pumping blood to my eyes and they were shot red.

“At the hospital, I …….”, she lamented and she was losing her voice. What was she doing at the hospital, Oh Lord!

“Which hospital?”, I hissed already taking out the car keys of the car I had hired.

“Aven…”, I didn’t even wait for her to finish I just dropped the call and I ran fast to the parking lot and Sandy was just shouting my name but I kept running. I hooped into the Audi and went to Avenues Hospital.

I arrived at the hospital and I went to the reception.

“Where’s my sister”, I bellowed at the receptionist, I was losing it.

“Oh my God, YV…”, she screamed and that pissed me off.

“Yes, yes tell me now where’s Kaylin. A girl that came here she has green eyes, where is she!?”, I snapped at her and the smile on her face vanished so quickly. I didn’t care at all, I was losing my mind.

“Sir, there’s no patient that came here named Kaylin”, she said looking down.

“Brother…”, her voice, oh God. I looked back and saw my baby sis still in one piece but she was a mess and trembling.

“Kaylin”, I shouted, running towards her and gave her a hug for days. She is fine!

“I, I almost killed her brother, she, she is in ICU”, she whispered as she broke down in my arms, she had grown so much. I didn’t get anything she was saying so I took her to the waiting room and we I set and made her sit on my lap. She was my baby sis after all and I always will treat her like one.

After some minutes she finally calm down.

KAYLIN POV

I was so glad when my brother told me that he will be coming to Zimbabwe. I haven’t seen him for 4 good years, we usually did video calls but it was never enough I wanted to feel his present and to be able to hug him so tightly. Life hasn’t been the same without him, I could feel his absence and mom missed him a lot I could tell every time I look into her eyes. On the other hand grandpa’s health has been deteriorating by every minute. Mom said not to tell Lanton and grandpa always pretends to be fine whenever he is on a call with him. Anyways I always pray for his health and I go to church every Sunday on holidays since I’m a boarder.

Today I was so happy that I’m going to a party, it is the first time I am going to a party ever since my brother had gone away, I wasn’t allowed to go partying just because he wasn’t near me. I heard that the party was going to be fancy since it is hosted by the famous Mr Godwin the son of our President, can you believe it? I was so nervous, if it wasn’t for the fact that my brother is a famous musician I wouldn’t even had a chance to go there except if I went there as a cleaner or waitress.

“Mom am going!”, I shouted from the living room after I had finished preparing everything for the grant party. I wore a long black dinner dress which had a vent that showed my thigh.

“I’m coming wait!”, she shouted back from the kitchen, we usually do this.

I went to say bye to grandpa as I was waiting for mom. He was now using a wheel chair.

“Evening grandpa”, I said walking to his wheel chair and I kneeled before him.

“Oh, my Green Eyes wachena (you look nice)”, he said looking in my eyes he is fond of my green eyes so he always calls me that.

“Thank you sekuru (grandpa), I am going to meet with Lanton. I hope he will have time to come here because he told me that his stay here is only for a few hours and then he will head back”, I explained not wanting to raise his hopes up, he really missed his grandson.

“Ok, Kayrin, just stay safe”, he sighed and I only focused on the Kayrin part.

“Oh, sekuru its Kaylin not Kayri”, I said in between soft laughs.

“Kayrin”, he said again and I just laughed some more and he joined me.

“Let us just stick with Green Eyes then”, I chuckled standing up because I was now feeling my block heels hurting my legs.

“Ok Green Eyes say hie to my grandson”, he said lowering his head.

“Don’t worry sekuru I’ll tell him and he’ll be happy to hear that, see you soon”, I reassured exiting his room and I found mom not yet there. This woman, really?

“Mom!”, I shouted.

“I’m coming, don’t you have patience at all”, she exclaimed walking to me, holding something.

“What’s that mom?”, I asked looking at a well wrapped package.

“Give this to your brother he used to love these cookies I bake by my hands very much”, she said with a splotchy complexion and I just took the cookies and hugged her.

“Don’t worry mom, your son has made a name for himself and he is where he truly belong, one day he’s going to come back here and it will be just like before”, I reassured her brushing her back, it was like I’m the mother here.

“You don’t understand baby”, this is what she always said the past 4 years, that I do not understand.

I finally went out and I hooped in my Audi 3 that Lanton had bought for me on my 18th birthday. I was behind time it was already 6:30pm and it literally takes 45 minutes to get to Crown Plaza coming from home. I drove like a maniac but eyy time was not on my side at all I was pretty late but I kept on driving. Even if the party ends I don’t care all I want is to see my brother.

Finally I was only 5 minutes away and I was happy. I don’t know where this lady came from she was wearing a denim jacket and denim jeans,  out of the blue she was in front of my car and my car lights flashed to her face and she looked very familiar but it was too late to even keep looking at her scared face. My heart was racing abnormally, I’ve never been in an accident before oh, Lord help me. This lady must be crazy she ran to my car thoughtlessly. My leg quickly moved to the brake gear and the car stopped but I felt that I hit the lady. Cars started hooting and people started coming. I was still in my car trembling as I hold tightly to the steer wheel. Oceans of tears started running down my cheeks and I was numb.

Someone came to knock at my window and I couldn’t move an inch. The person opened my door and that’s when I realized that it was a policeman.

“We’ve witnessed everything that happened don’t worry mam”, he said holding my shoulder. The policeman was so young maybe he was in his early twenties. I was drooling.

“Come and take her too!”, he shouted to people who were wearing white things with white gloves and they took me to a walking bed and I was put in an ambulance. We got to Avenues hospital and they examined me and the doctor just said that I’m just in shock and I need to relax and have lots of sleep.

“Don’t you have any family member you’d like to contact?”, the doctor asked and I just nodded and he gave me my phone and I called my brother since he was so near the hospital already.

After I talked to Lanton, a few minutes later I heard his loud voice at the reception since my room wasn’t far from the reception. I walked out when he was busy shouting at the receptionist, my poor brother shame. He loves me a lot. I called brother to him and I knew he could recognise my voice without a doubt and in not seconds I was in his gigantic arms, right where I belong. I felt at home that I cried to my heart content.

Lanton POV

Kaylin explained everything to me and she was still in shock I could tell by all the trembling. I feel sorry for my sis right now, that lady might have been mad or under serious stress.

“So did you see the lady?”, I asked Kaylin when she had finally calm down.

“I just saw her when my lights flashed on her face but after that I didn’t see her because she was taken to the hospital”, she explained.

“Ok, baby sis. Right now I just want you to take it easy and relax”, I said carrying her in my arms and we walked going to her room.

“So Lanton this is what you doing while my sister is fighting for her life in that bloody ICU!”, some one shouted at my back and I turned still carrying Kaylin. I just recalled this face, hell yes it was the drama queen Vee. She didn’t change at all I just knew her from the get go. I still remember that she was Shennie’s Pri-School  best friend. Oh God why did it have to be her and what sister is she talking about?

“Hy Vee”, I greeted her with a minimal eye contact.

“Oh so the famous YV still remembers me, oh Lord”, she said rolling her big eyes.

“Babe let’s get going”, a good looking guy came and grabbed her hand.

“This isn’t over Lanton, you can’t just break her heart just like that. She waited for so many years for you!”, she yelled whilst the guy dragged her down the passage.

Kaylin and I were left stunned by this scene. I mean what the hell was she on about? I didn’t even get anything she was saying. The stress that I had was just enough why did she have to add more to it. Which sister was she talking about? As far as I know Shennie is not her sister, eyy this mad girl was now driving me nuts. I just took Kaylin to her room and the doctor came in holding files and he said that she was good to go. We packed our things but before we could go out 2 police officers walked in.

“Miss Kaylin Johnson, we are here for your signature and then you are free to go. As you already know I witnessed the whole accident and it was clearly not your fault we just need you to sign some legal statements and you can leave”, a young looking policeman said writing something down on a white paper and Kaylin was blushing, I ignored it though maybe I was reading too much into all this.

“Ok sir”, Kaylin took the documents and signed to clear her name.

After all this we walked out of the hospital with people giving me the bloody looks, we went to the parking lot. I opened the door for Kaylin and I closed the door. I then hopped in and we left.

“I wanted to see the lady though”, she complained.

“Stop whining now, I promise that we will call the hospital and ask about her tomorrow okay”, I assured her and she smiled at me.

“Okay, brother I’m happy that you are coming home with me. Mom and grandpa missed you a lot”, she said with a puffy face.

“If it wasn’t for the accident thing I wouldn’t have come. I was planning on just leaving immediately and come permanently in the next 2 months”, I chuckled.

“But it’s better that you here now”, she smiled from ear to ear.

“That woman, do you think she was talking about the girl I almost killed?”, she asked with a sad face.

“Firstly you didn’t almost kill that lady okay and I don’t know if the mad girl was talking about her. It might be possible though”, I said giving it much thought now. Maybe I should’ve asked Vee about her sister and moreover I should’ve asked about Shennie.

My thoughts were just all over the place but I just brushed them off and focused on my return home. Nothing has really changed though, I remembered every road very well and finally we were home. I opened the gate and drove in and I closed it again. I parked the car in the garage and we hooped out. Finally I was home, oh darn it I forgot to tell Sandy about everything she must be running mad right now. Before I walked in I called Sandy and told her where I am and that she shouldn’t worry about me, I’ll be seeing her tomorrow morning and we will fly back.

After the call I walked inside the house…..
