Knock! Knock!
Chara heard someone knocking on their door, and she rushed to open it.
She was surprised to see her best friend, she has freckled and ginger-colored hair. "Sylvie!" Chara grinned.
"Ready for our picnic?" Sylvie asked, and smiled brightly as she raised the picnic basket she's holding.
"Definitely." Chara said excitedly.
Like Chara, Sylvie also lived in the village. They first became friends when they were still both young. As they grew older their friendship remained and it became stronger.
The two girls walked and reached the grounds of the village park. A place where everyone can rest and children can play.
Chara and Sylvie went near under the giant oak tree in the side of the park.
Sylvie began to unfurled the red with white stripes picnic cloth on the ground, and Chara placed the picnic basket in the middle of the cloth and let out some sandwiches, cookies, and peanut butter crackers, and two fresh cow's milk.
"Nice place for a picnic." Chara said, while munching a cookie.
"Nice? I prefer having a picnic in the grassy field near the riverbank. There we could have a quieter and peaceful picnic." Sylvie replied.
Chara understands her. She looked around the place and smiled, children are cheerfully playing, and shrieks of laughter can be heard
"This place isn't that bad, come to think of it we had our picnic in the riverbank a hundredth times." Chara giggled.
Sylvie started to laugh, realizing her friend was right.
"CHARA!" a male voice called her.
The girls looked around to see who it was. They saw a male elf waving at their direction.
Sylvie was more surprised when she glanced at friend whose also waving back to him.
He went close to them and smiled at Chara. "I've been looking for you everywhere," Bren said, breathlessly and gave Chara a plastic container full of fruits.
"What's this?" she asked.
"Rarest and sweetest fruit in Cardonia. Wild plum berries. They only grow in the forest, also it's my apology for what I've done the other day."
"What were you doing in the forest?" Chara ask.
"Getting lumbers, you know why. And the most exciting part I get to save the princess of Cardonia from a bandit." he boasted.
"Really?" she said amazed,
It's very rare to see a princess outside the castle and it's totally bizarre if you get to meet one.
"Um, excuse me. Were on a middle of a picnic." Sylvie putted in.
"My apologies, I hope I'm not disturbing." Bren grin, and looked at their food they had displayed on the cloth.
"Oh, you really did." Sylvie whispered.
"Before I leave, can I have some cookies and crackers?" he asked, and before the girls can respond, he already takes some of their snacks.
"Talk to you later, you know where to find me." he winked at Chara and marched away.
Chara's smile immediately vanish when she saw Sylvie's frowning face. "Who is he?"
"My new friend." Chara said.
"Friend huh, I hope your new friend won't replace me as your bestest, best friend." Sylvie folded her arms.
"Sylvie, not ever. Why did you ever thing of that?" Chara asked softly.
"Because we grow up," Sylvie exhaled,
"When your young, you think your best friend is everything. But once you find love. . . it changes. Our friendship can never be the same after that."
"Please Sylvie, I don't have feelings for him." Chara snorts, and laughed.
"Yet." Sylvie mumbled, but Chara heard her.
She sighed, and said, "Trust me, our friendship will remain. No one can ever destroy it."
Sylvie smiled, and took the bottle of milk in front of her.
No one talked after their conversation.
Chara was deep in her thoughts, thinking of what her friend had said. And she'll be lying, if she haven't developed any feelings for the boy.
But no boys can ever change their friendship.
