Chapter 13

✴ ️ʟᴜɴᴀ'ꜱ ɴᴇᴡ ᴍᴀɢɪᴄ ✴️

"She will return," her father's voice echoed inside her head.

Luna wants to forget him and the confusing, strange words he had said before he passed away. But she can't, it was paste in her memory.

His father's voice keeps haunting her always in her dreams, because of it she couldn't sleep well.

Sitting inside her boudoir, Luna stared at her own reflection in the mirror. She won't be surprised if she's seeing her eyes look swollen.

Luna groaned when she softly touched the dark circles below her once perfect eyes before she could have those dreadful nightmares that keeps her awake all night.

She instantly thought of her aunt Eloisa, maybe she knows how to get rid of the irritating dark circles under her eyes.

Luna left the room, and marched to see her aunt. The throne room was her first guess where Eloisa might be.

It was still early in the morning, and Luna can almost hear Eloisa from outside, yelling at someone.

"WHAT IS THIS? DUST! DUST ON MY THRONE! DIDN'T I TOLD YOU TO CLEAN IT PROPERLY."

luna opened the door and peeked inside, she caught her aunt yelling at the skinny maid, with rosy cheeks.

"I apologize, my queen. I will clean it again." the maid lowered her eyes, and bowed her head, her long dark ponytail fell over one shoulder.

Eloisa watched the skinny maid clean her precious throne, and glanced at her steward, "Edmon! What's my schedule for this day?" she asked.

He unfurled the scroll in his palms, and reads what was written on it.

"The Ambassador of Voldemort will come here after ten hours and a half from now. And the taxes collected from the kingdom will be delivered here today."

The queen nodded. "Good, I won't be busy to much, I can have a little time for Luna."

The princess walks in the room.
With a pout, she rubs her eye tiredly.

Eloisa and Edmon noticed her presence, and they both stared at Luna until she's near them.

The queen smiled gleefully, "It's nice for you to come, dear. I was about to call you, there's something I want to say."

Eloisa looked at his steward, and said, "Leave us both for a minute."

He nods, did what was told. Edmon left the room, leaving Eloisa and Luna inside.

Luna watches him close the door, and she turns to Eloisa and began to say her intentions.

"I wanted to see you to ask if you have any cream or something that can rid the swelling around my eyes."

Eloisa studied her fair face, and noticed what she meant.

"Im sorry Luna,"

"Magic cream, perhaps? Or any magic?" she tried again.

Eloisa suddenly laugh, and Luna scorched pink. She felt embarrassed, What's wrong if I want my perpect face back.

"Luna, if you want to lose it you need 12 hours of sleep if you ask me."

Luna grunts, and tried to keep her eyes open. "But how many times I tried, I can't sleep. "

And when she said can't, she meant she mustn't. Luna doesn't want to hear and see the nightmares she was having, because of her father.

Luna had thought Cornelius was doing it on purpose. That it was his punishment for Luna's wicked ways.

And she doesn't want her aunt to know about this.

"But," Eloisa continues to speak, "If you really insist on using magic, I have one for you,"

In their left side, below the portrait of Queen Eloisa, a jewelry box was placed on the desk. It was made in black crystal that sparkle at the glimpse of a light.

Eloisa reached for it, and offered it to Luna. "Open it, dear."

She looked closely at the dark crystal box, Luna was stunned at it.

She doesn't want to refuse, because Luna loves jewelries. But somehow, she doubt it.

Black wasn't her favorite, and she never did. It's dark color reminds her of gloom, darkness, and death.

Luna only stared at it. When Eloisa noticed the princess has no plan to take it, she gently lifts Luna's chin, high enough to see her face.

"Sometimes you mustn't judge what you see from outside, because what's inside is completely the opposite of what you see in the outside."

Eloisa opened the box for the princess, and the unpleasant emotions Luna felt earlier was now gone.

Her eyes glued on the purple amulet laying inside the jewelry box.

A crescent moon was carved in its center, it shimmers as if its calling Luna's name.

"What is this?" she asked, her voice was filled with awe.

"This is the Moon Amulet, it contains a powerful magic that can be controlled by whom wears it." Eloisa explains, and added,

"It is powerful enough to bring back your perfect, pretty face."

"Awesome!" Luna squeeled, all her life  she always wished to have magic.

Now, it's here. Right in front of Luna, waiting for her to be claimed.

With no doubt, she grabbed the amulet and wears it around neck.

The purple amulet matches her fuchsia sleeveless dress.

"To use its magic, think and concentrate on what you want to happen." said Eloisa, and smiled.

Luna nods, and closed her eyes tightly.

"Vanish the dark circles under my beautiful eyes"

She said this multiple times in her mind, her jaw and crumpled hands clenched.

For a moment, she felt her eyes were aching, then it turned numb. But instantly, it was gone.

Now she felt relaxed, and wide awake,  she doesn't feel tired anymore.

Luna can say it really does work.
Having magic was a wish come true.

"I love this." She said, "I wonder what else can it do."

She tried to think for something, while studying her amulet.

It wasn't long before she paused and looked straight at the queen's eyes. With a smirk on her face, she said,

"Hmm, I wonder if I think of blasting you to smithereens, and I will point my glowing fingers at you, will you blast into smithereens?"

Eloisa's eyes widen, and shocked at what Luna had said, she froze when Luna did point her fingers at her.

Little by little purple lights sparks on Luna's fingertips.

Eloisa didn't thought of this was going to happen.

"You wouldn't dare, will you Luna?" the queen chuckled awkwardly.

The princess sneered. Eloisa hides her own glowing fingers in her back, ready to defend herself if her crazy niece was really serious.

They both stared at each others eyes.

Luna began to shoot purple lightning from her fingers.

Instantly, Eloisa made a glowing shield, but when she expects something will hit her, nothing came.

She opened her eyes, and realized it was just an illusion.

Seeing the fear on Eloisa's face, Luna's fingertips dimmed. She laughed, and cried louder, burying her face in her hands.

Eloisa stared at her, relieved.  Her own fingertips dimmed too, her eyes narrowed getting irritated at Luna.

She had given her a beautiful gift, and what did she received? Humiliation.

Luna was howling, like a laughing hyena who can't stop laughing at its own jokes.

The queen forced a smile, and faked a laugh.

"Very funny don't you think. But why don't you save your laughter for another time, and do whatever you want outside the room." Eloisa said.

"I understand. But thanks for the amulet, Aunt Eloisa. You made me sooo happy." Luna giggled, and walked away.

From outside, Edmon was standing behind the door of the room this whole time, eavesdropping on Luna and Eloisa.

He tried to hide his laughter, and he enters when Luna was walks out.

"EDMON!" Eloisa shouted. "Remove that hideous smile on your face."

She sat on her throne, and she rubbed her forehead with her fingers, tiredly.

Eloisa felt stressed at Luna's performance earlier.

"I know you heard everything, I can see that on your face, Edmon. But I can't believe Luna will treat me like a fool—"

Edmon suddenly snorts.

The queen flashed him a deadly look. While the man tried to stop laughters escaping his mouth.

"HOW DARE YOU TO INSULT YOUR QUEEN!" She exclaimed.

"BECAUSE OF IT, I ORDER YOU TO CLEAN THE STABLES, TOP TO BOTTOM! AND THAT INCLUDES THE HORSE'S FECES." her voice echoed through the room.

Edmon blinked, and realized she was punishing him for his little mistake.

"But horse poops are disgusting, and the stables are wide, and—"

Eloisa cutted his words, "Exactly, the harder the job, the soon you'll learn your lesson not to disrespect me." she said, simpering at him.

He had no choice but to follow, but he can't stop to feel irritated.

When he was near the stables, he thought, and clenched his teeth,

A queen's steward doesn't clean disgusting horse poops or stables. It's the hostler's job.”

While in the throne room.

Eloisa stared at him below, in the window.

Punishing is the best way to teach them not to mess around with me.” Eloisa though wickedly, and she went back to her throne.
