Christmas Presents Part 1 (Sabriel)
It's 12:14am on Christmas Day here :P Merry Christmas guys. Hope yall have a great Christmas filled with Supernatural and fandoms. *Give candy canes*
"Oh come on, don't sound so down Sammy."
"Why not?"
"It's Christmas eve."
"And?"
"Come on, be a little excited."
Gabriel heard an exasperated sigh on the other end of the phone.
"Great, another year I get to spend alone with no celebrations and a brother that skips out to hang with his best friend instead."
"You know what that's it. Get over here now."
"What?"
"You heard me Sammy, you're spending Christmas with us."
"Uhh..."
"Dean will be here anyway, you said it yourself, he always hangs with Cas. You two are like family, don't you dare say you'd be intruding."
"How did you..."
"I know you too well Sammy, now grab some stuff and get over here. We can watch cliché christmas movies all night."
Gabe heard a sigh. "Fine. I'll be there in ten."
The phone went dead and Gabe threw it onto his bed. Him and Sam had been friends for who knows how long. Same with Cas and Dean. The younger two were in their final year of high school while Cas and Dean had already graduated.
True to his word, ten minutes later Sam was knocking on the door. Gabe ran downstairs and opened it for him, immediately giving him reindeer ears.
"Not quite a moose, but close enough," Gabe said with a smirk. Sam rolled his eyes but smiled, before walking into the house and up to Gabe's room.
"So what movies do you have?" Sam asked.
"Well I don't actually own Christmas movies," Gabe said. "So how about we binge watch Doctor Who?"
"Oh you know me too well," Sam said with a wide smile before jumping over onto Gabriel's bed. Gabe chuckled and turned the tv on, putting on the 9th Doctor's first episode.
They watched that for hours, side by side on Gabriel's bed. Eventually, Sam fell asleep, sliding down onto Gabe's shoulder. Gabe looked down at Sam's head on his shoulder, smiling softly.
"Night Sammy," he said softly. "Merry Christmas."
~~
Sam woke to the sun shining bright in his face, Gabe's curtains wide open. He groaned and rolled away from the light, only to see an excited Gabriel crouched beside the bed.
"Sammy it's Christmas!!" he yelled. Sam chuckled at Gabe's excitement, and dragged himself out of the bed.
"What time is it?" Sam asked, yawning.
"7 am," Gabe said. "Come on let's look at the tree." He jumped up with way too much energy and bounded down the stairs. Sam just chuckled again and followed him groggily.
"Sammy look! I have presents!"
"You are such a child," Sam said, laughing as Gabriel sat cross legged next to the tree.
"I wonder what this could be," Gabe said, picking one up and shaking it. "Maybe a Dvd."
"You shook the dvd?" Sam asked.
"Yeah that's what you do with presents," Gabe said. "Shake them. Oh Sammy I got you something."
"Aww Gabe you didn't have to," Sam said. "You know I feel bad since I can't afford to get you anything back."
"Samantha you're my friend, I'm gonna buy you a damn present and you are going to accept it," Gabe said firmly. Sam sighed. "Also you don't get it until later."
"Wow getting me so excited just to hold it off," Sam said. Gabe laughed.
The rest of the Novak's eventually got up. Chuck, Becky and Castiel. Dean showed up a few hours later too.
"Wow Dean, big surprise to see you here," Sam said, rolling his eyes.
"Good to see you're not waiting around for Dad to show up," Dean said. "Although you couldn't have left a note or something? I had no idea where you were this morning."
Sam just shook his head before smiling softly and passing Dean a present. "Still got you a present."
Dean's eyes lit up as he opened the small package to find an amulet.
"My god it's like a Samulet," Gabe said. "Since it's from Sam. And it's an amulet."
Sam laughed before leaning on Gabe's shoulder while Gabe protested.
"Stupid tall people," Gabe muttered.
And so the day continued. Everyone gave each other presents, celebrated, ate Christmas food, watched cheesy movies and listened to carols. And this was one of the first Christmas's Sam had spent with an actual family. Other years had just been waiting for Dad or getting one present from Dad and celebrating for about half an hour. The Winchester's never really had Christmas. Dean usually tried to get Sam to go to the Novak's, but Sam always insisted on waiting for the father who never came. He'd given up this year though.
For once, Sam actually felt happy at Christmas. He was smiling and laughing with Gabe's family like they were his own.
At some point, Sam walked past a room that Chuck and Gabriel were in, and stopped to eavesdrop.
"You should seriously just ask him out," Chuck said.
"It's not that simple," Gabe sighed. "He doesn't...we're just friends."
"How do you know he doesn't feel the same way?"
"I've known him forever, I think I'd be able to tell."
Sam just stood outside the room in shock. Yeah he had feelings for the golden haired idiot but ignored it thinking he never had a chance. But now...
Sam smiled softly, thinking about this new information and what he could do with it. And then he formed a plan.
After dinner, Sam and Gabe went up to Gabe's room.
"Okay you get your present now," Gabe said. He passed Sam a small box. Sam opened it to find a necklace chain with a small golden wing pendant on it. "Basically something so you won't forget me."
"Why in the world would I ever forget you?" Sam asked, taking the necklace out.
"Well," Gabe said, looking down to his feet. "You're going to go to a fancy college, get a girlfriend, marry her. I'm probably going to stay here, so we won't see each other much anymore."
"Dude, I'm never going to forget you. Or leave you for that matter." Sam put the necklace on, smiling at the way it just seemed to become part of him.
"You say that now," Gabriel muttered.
"Gabriel." Gabe looked up at the use of his full name. "Oh it's too hard to explain." Gabe looked down sadly again. Sam understood why now, knowing what Gabriel was thinking about.
"Well," Sam said. "I think it's about time I gave you your Christmas present."
Gabe looked up again. "I thought you didn't get anything?"
"Last minute decision," Sam said, taking a step towards Gabriel. "First, I wanna thank you for today. Inviting me over...this is honestly the best Christmas I've ever had."
Gabe smiled brightly. "Course kiddo. Anything to make you smile."
"And second," Sam said, stepping closer to Gabriel so they were inches away from each other. "Your present also doubles as an answer to why I'm not leaving you." That seemed to be the moment Gabriel figured it out.
As realization spread across Gabriel's face, Sam brought one hand up to his chin to tilt his head up, leaning down to press his lips against Gabe's. Gabriel responded immediately, bringing his arms up to wrap them around Sam's neck and standing on his tip toes to get a better angle. Sam moved his arms to rest his hands on Gabe's hips, pulling his closer.
They kissed for what felt like hours but was probably less than a minute, before Gabe pulled away.
"You...feel the same?" he whispered, leaning his forehead against Sam's.
"Of course," Sam said. "And I may have overheard your conversation with Chuck earlier. Otherwise I probably would've kept it quiet."
Gabe smirked. "Thank god for your eavesdropping." He leaned up to kiss Sam softly again. "You shoulda eavesdropped sooner."
Sam laughed. "Hey Gabriel? Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas Sammy," Gabriel said. "And seriously. Best. Christmas present. Ever."
"Oh I'm sure I could top it," Sam said, smirking.
Gabe took a moment to figure out the double meaning there and blushed red. "Oh. Well I'm not objecting to that."
Sam chuckled. "Maybe next Christmas," he said, before pulling his new boyfriend into another kiss.
