Baby Cassie

Dean walked out of Bobby's auto-repair shop on a cold rainy morning. He had just finished his shift at Bobby's. The sky was dark and filled with big rain clouds. Even some lightening was going around. Dean passed by various allies until he stopped at the sound of crying. A young child's cry. "Um, h-hello?" Dean's voice echoed down the alley. He didn't get a reply back just more of the sound of a baby crying.

He turned into the alley, walking down it. The cries were becoming closer and closer until he was closest to hear it clearly as a baby's cry. He looked around himself and saw what he could not believe. He saw a baby in a basket crying and it had some wounds on them. "Oh my God!" Dean panicked. He ran up to the basket. The baby had a small figure and had dark raven hair starting to grow on its head. Only a diaper and blanket with a note were left in the basket with the baby.

Dean picked up the baby gently. The baby was shaking and cold. "You poor little guy," Dean whispered. The baby's crying stopped and was soothed by Dean's voice. "I'm gonna help you. C'mon let's take you to the hospital." Dean said, grabbing the basket and heading in the direction of the hospital.

As soon as Dean got to the hospital the baby felt numb. "Someone help!" He called. Many people stared at him and doctors were running in.

"Sir, what's the issue?" They asked, taking the baby from his arms.

"I-I was walking and-and I had heard some crying down an alley. I then found this little guy and he seems to be wounded and left behind. I-I think he wasn't owned by anyone or someone didn't want him. Now as I walked in here I felt the baby become numb." Dean's voice was starting to crack.

"Okay, sir, we'll try anything we can do." They rushed the baby into a room, commencing to inspect and do surgery right away. A doctor inspected the wounds mainly they were big and scratched.

"This baby seems like they were abused." He commented. Dean could only feel worse for the little guy. The doctors inspected farther into the baby. "There's definitely something wrong." Dean's heart was beating like a drum in his ears. The machine started to beep repeatedly. The baby was losing its heartbeat. "We need to do surgery right away. The organs are shutting down. The baby would need heart surgery." Dean then was pushed out of the room and guided to the waiting area by one of the nurses.

"But- but-" He looked behind him, seeing the little boy's face on the bed.

"It'll be alright, sir. Just wait here." The nurse left him. Dean gripped onto the sides of the chair in worry. He felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He got out his phone to see Sam leaving him a bunch of messages. Dean then looked back at the basket and picked up the note, reading it. It said: To whoever sees this, I've given up on my baby boy, this life he's been put in, he doesn't deserve it. It's too bad and too much that I can't bear to see him handle. Please whoever finds him, bless him and love him with all your heart and not the way I did. His name is Castiel. He's a little thing but once you get to know him he'll like you and never give up on you. But please never let him contact me or you yourself. I don't want to be found and I shouldn't be anyways. I hope he has a better life that what he was in. Dean put the note back in the basket shocked, with no words to say or end with. He felt like Castiel was his own child. It was scary.

He could've been home with Sammy, having fun but instead he was helping out a baby boy who needs his loving. Dean eventually fell asleep in the hospital chair. A nurse shook his awake.

"He's all done out of surgery. He seems in better health." She smiled sadly. Dean smiled back but it faded away slowly as he approached Castiel's room. He saw the little baby awake lying there, staring at the ceiling. It made Dean flashback to when Mary died in a house fire and Sam had witnessed it all as a baby. So young and fragile. Dean approached Castiel slowly. He smiled seeing those blue orbs for Castiel's eyes. He had never really seen them since all Castiel did was cry. Castiel's attention went to Dean, staring into his green forest eyes.

Castiel looked at him more and even tilted his head a bit. Dean chuckled, "Well aren't you cute." He muttered. Castiel smiled at that and as a baby he showed no teeth. It was adorable to Dean when he raised Sammy that small. Now the boy was four years old while Dean was eight and working. It's not fair sometimes but he supports everything for him and Sammy. Now Bobby takes care of them while John is doing "work" as he called it.

A doctor then came in. "Young man can we get your name?" Dean turned to look at him.

"Dean Winchester sir." He replied.

"Okay, can you say your goodbye's to this little boy here."

"Um his name is Castiel. See?" Dean took out the note from the basket and showed the doctor. He watched his eyes before he gave him the note back.

"Okay but he has no parent or guardian we have to send him to an orphanage." Dean's heart broke at that.

"An orphanage? Why can't he come home with me?" The doctor eyed him.

"Because you are too young, Mr.Winchester." Dean sighed.

"Fair enough," He turned to Castiel. "Goodbye, little one. Hope for better things." He kissed the top of his head softly. The doctor then directed Dean out and he walked home.

20 years later...

Dean walked down the same road he always remembered. He looked down the same alley, remembering to hear the cries of young baby Castiel. Dean sighed and kept walking. He then saw an orphanage down the street and his hopes became high. He walked faster and cautiously over, seeing someone moping the steps. "Excuse me?" Dean asked the woman. The woman turned around only not to be a woman but a man. Dean gasped.

"I'm sorry, I- I was only trying to look for someone...." Dean looked back up again to be met with those blue orb eyes. The man smiled. His teeth were surprising cleaned and whitened.

"It's alright. Many people mistake me for my gender from behind... but it's normal. Who are you looking for?" He said kindly. He had a bit of deep tone to his voice and it sounded really nice and friendly.

"A guy. I know him but I don't think he knows me." Dean frowned.

"Oh? Well I'm sure they'll know." The man patted his shoulder. Dean nodded sadly.

"I'm looking for a guy named Castiel." The man's eyes widened as he dropped his mop. "Do you know him?" Dean asked. The man nodded.

"I'm Castiel." He said. Dean eyed him up and down. Castiel wasn't dressed in his finest clothing. More of anything he was dressed in rags or maid uniform. "W-Who are you?" He asked.

"Dean, Dean Winchester. I-I'm the one that found you all those years ago." Castiel was confused. Found? What does he mean found? I have a family... I just work here... I thought. "Hear me out please." He pleaded. Castiel nodded. "I was eight years old when I found you... you were only a baby at the timing. I found you in an alley all alone, covered in a blanket in a basket. I didn't know who you belonged to-" Castiel sat down and so did Dean. "They probably didn't want to be found... You were also beaten up badly. I took you to the hospital to make sure you were alright and you weren't. You had to have heart surgery. I don't know anything about your past except that it was bad and I helped you. I've never expected to see you again but here we are." Dean chuckled. Castiel nodded again.

"So... you don't know who my real parents are?" Castiel asked. Dean shook his head.

"No... why?" He asked.

"I've never really felt a part of the family I have now. My parents never told me I was adopted and when I was old enough I started working here. My pills aren't that great but they also help maintain my heart complications. The family I have now is somewhat alright but I would've like to know my real family." Castiel sighed sadly. Dean rubbed his back gently.

"I know how hard it is...." Dean muttered. Castiel looked at him.

"Why what happened?"

"My mother when I was about four she died in a house fire then my dad went into a stage of ignoring me and my brother, Sammy, and left us. My Uncle Bobby told me my old man died in March this year but he wasn't a real part of our lives though I would've like to have had it." Castiel nodded. "I feel the same way is what I'm saying, Cas." Castiel was taken aback from that nickname. Only Gabriel his stepbrother called him various nicknames.

"Cas?" He said. Dean's eyes widened a bit.

"Oh! Sorry! Just I sometimes have nicknames for people and your name is kind of hard to pronounce so Cas it is, heh." Dean finished with a awkward smile. Castiel chuckled and it sounded like the most beautiful thing to Dean.
