VILLIANS

They trio left hours ago, leaving me alone in the house, pacing back and forth as I overthink the situation. My gut is telling me that something is going to go wrong and that I need to go help them, but my mind is saying that they have it all under control and they'll be back soon. As soon as they left, I tried out some of the things Sam told me about, but honestly, as lovely as it may sound to other people, I need to keep moving because of how anxious of a person I am. Every time I try and sit down, I immediately get back on my feet, feeling the need to protect something or you know, specifically three people.

And then, like a flip of a switch, I give into the gut feeling and I rush back to the bedroom where my things are. As I grab my uniform, I notice that it had been clean and a sticky note is attached to it saying, "Just like new - N" and a smile forms on my face, knowing that she'd do that for me. Quickly, I strip off the clothing Sam gave me the night before, and manage to quickly get into the uniform which consisted of: a black tee shirt, a simple leather jacket, black cargo pants with a belt, a mask, and combat boots. Nothing too exciting, but hey, I've worn it for years so it's the best thing I have.

The second I pick up all my weapons and hold the crossbow in my hands, while the quiver is slung over my shoulder, I feel myself get excited. If I were to become the Red Ghost right now, I wouldn't stop it because I know it would be necessary, but whatever happens, happens. It's weird to know that I technically have two identities while being a single individual. Quite frankly, I don't think it's all that bad. I have to become her for just a short while. She's dangerous, smart, and able to do things without remorse.

"Please let me be wrong," I say to myself as I walk out the front door, closing it behind me, and proceeding down the sidewalk, trying to find a fight to get into.

I see him. Winter. I've been on top of a truck for a good twenty-five minutes before the world around me started to change. In the distance, I can see three figures that jumped from a car and they slid across the road and I already know who they might be. When the area of the highway is almost in front of me, I stand up slightly, holding onto the rail of the truck. I only have a five second time frame to jump, so as always, I cut it close. With ease, I propel myself off the top of the truck, landing hard on the concrete, in the middle of a battle that has yet to begin.

Though, Winter and I's eyes were covered by a pair of sunglasses, I can feel him glaring dangerously at me. With my adrenaline pumping quickly through my veins, I walk over to Winter, and my fist makes contact with his jaw and my foot connects with his abdomen, slamming his back into the military type vehicle behind him. Evidently, these actions catch him off guard, and in a split second, I run over towards the three that are trying to fend for their lives.

"This whole 'hero' thing isn't in my nature, but I suppose I can repay a couple of favors," I say to the three, a smirk forms of my lips as I take off my sunglasses and shove them in my pocket.

I notice that Winter has gotten a out and without a second thought, I push Nat out of the way and Sam is already on the move. Before I could help Steve, he's sent flying over the bridge and into a bus because of the impact of the explosive bullet. And that's when all hell breaks loose. The men that are with Winter begin to aimlessly shoot their rifles at the three of us on the bridge, and I barely make it behind a car when it happens.

Out of all the time I could possibly have in the world, my mind goes blank. Red mocks my thoughts because it's always that she knows best in these types of situations. In an instant, my eyes close and open again, but this time, the Red Ghost has come out to play. Grabbing my crossbow from my back and an arrow from my quiver, I stand up, looking over the car and aim my arrow at one of the men that's shooting in Nat's direction and with ease, it goes through his temple. But that doesn't stop them from doing anything. Winter shoots and the car that Nat is behind explodes, sending her to jump off the side of the bridge. Well, here goes nothing. Let's try to keep everyone alive today. They all continue to shoot, but with the advantage of them facing away from me, I take the opportunity and run.

"Hey Snowball, don't you have more than one mission to fulfill?" I ask, my voice laced with hatred.

He stops firing and turns around towards me. His sunglasses were off as well, making his blue eyes glisten in the sunlight. At first, he's hesitant to do anything like he doesn't want to hurt his old partner, but his mindset changes and he's charging after me. Securing my crossbow on my back, I grab my knives and start charging at him as well, not afraid for what the outcome of all of this will be.

Twirling the knives in my hands, Winter lifts his cybernetic arm, thinking that I'd be too slow to dodge his punch, but I move my head to the left, barely slicing the surface of his neck as I swung my knife at him. He steps back a bit, opening a window for me to swing my right leg around, creating a loud crack as I make connect with his head. In a second, he regains his focus and grabs me by the neck with his metal arm, holding me up into the air (like a fucking pinata). My airways between to close as his grip tightens.

"I'm not the enemy, Winter," I manage to choke out.

Suddenly, a shot is fired in our direct, making Winter drop me to the ground as he runs into the direction of the ledge of the bridge and easily jumps over his. My knees collide with the ground, sucking in air due to my lack of oxygen and I look up to see Sam running over to me. Grabbing my hand, he hoists me up back on my feet.

"You okay?" he rushes.

I look at him as I'm putting my knives away. "I'm fine," I reply, angrily through my teeth.

I'm angry. Not at the fact that was just gripped up by my neck, but because my fighting abilities are an absolute disgrace and I grunt in frustration before running towards the ledge where Winter had just jumped off. Gunfire echoes from every direction, and I peer over my shoulder at Sam, who just gives me a nod of encouragement. Looking down at the ground below me, I take a deep breath before throwing my legs over the ledge,  allowing myself to fall freely  onto the ground below me, my feet smacking the concrete. Sounds of people screaming can be heard from the distant, but now, my main focus is to stop Winter before he can do more damage.

Smoke from the bus blows in my face as I cautiously walk in the mass of destruction. A shimmer of light shines into my right eye, and I turn my head to notice Steve's shield lying on the ground next to me as I see Steve pulling himself out of the burning bus. His eyes meet mine as a look of relief is written across his face. I lean down and pick up the shield, surprised to see how light it really is. Steve runs over towards me, and I absentmindedly pull out a gun, handing it to him, but without a second thought, he takes it while the shield is still in hand.

"He's heading farther into town," I explain to Steve while handing him his shield.

He slides his forearm behind the shield, looking at me while I stare straight ahead.

"Good luck," my voice is forceful.

My head turns to look at him, but he looks confused. "I'm not going anywhere without you," Steve states, and he grabs my arm, making us both break out into a sprint.

While we run, I can hear Nat in the distance, screaming at the civilians to get out of the street, warning them for what is to come. Now, the question still remains. Who would they be afraid of? The Winter Soldier or The Red Ghost? In some ways, it's like a trick question, but like they say, great minds think alike or when you get your memories back, you fight for what you believe is right. As we get closer to the sounds of chaos, we witness Winter jump up onto to a car, aiming his gun at Natasha. Steve runs even faster, trying to prevent Winter from his desire to kill our friend.

My feet take me to the car what my friend was hiding behind. Blood is seeping out her gunshot wound, and I try to rip off a piece of fabric to clot it, but she grabs my hand to stop him.

"I'll be fine. We need to move. Now!" she yells, and I grab her by the wrist, pulling her up and we run away from the two fighting behind us.

Once we're in the clear, I finally find the time to catch my breath, still trying to process everything that's happening.

"Go," Nat says to me, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"What?" I ask, surprised. "I need to protect you!"

She places her hand on my shoulder. "You and I both know that being a hero isn't your type of thing," she winks while pushing me forward.

A smirk takes over my face as I walk towards Steve and Winter. Pulling my crossbow over my shoulder and an arrow from the quiver, I aim at the man I used to trust, who I used to care about. The moment I pull the trigger, the arrow goes flying, piercing Winter's uniform, but he easily pulls it out, not noticing my presence as he continues to battle Steve with two knives in his hands. For the second time today, Steve's shield is separated from him, but instead of it being on the ground, it's impaled into the side of a red van. Evidently, I take off into a sprint and when I close in on the van, I jump, my feet making contact with the metal as my hands grab ahold of the shield. I propel myself, flipping upside down before landing on my feet, not caring about the shock that coursed through my body because of the impact.

"Steve, watch out!" I yell as loud as I can.

With all the strength in my body, I throw the shield directly towards Winter as Steve jumps out of the way. Once it left my hand, everything began to go in slow motion; Winter's eyes met mine, a look of confusion filled them as they stare directly into my eyes. He's caught off guard when the shield makes contact with his chest, forcing him to slide backwards. Because of my actions, Steve takes advantage of the small window, and he punches Winter square in the jaw, grabbing his shield in the process.

They continue to fight. Winter gained back his advantage back and dodges Steve's punches like he can see what he's about to do next. My mind is screaming at me to fight, but just when I'm about to, Steve grabs Winter by the mask, flipping him in front of himself. I throw my mask off and run over to Steve when I realize Winter's came off too. I stand confidently next to Steve, waiting for the assassin in front of me to stand back up.

When he finally turns, the wind is blowing through his shoulder length brown hair and his piercing blue eyes stare coldly back at us. Beside me, Steve freezes like a statue, his face filling with confusion.

"Bucky?" the name rolls off his tongue, unable to believe the sight in front of him.

Every bone in my body wants to run up to the assassin, wanting to yell at him to remember because he's so much more than what Hydra has created him into.

"Who the hell is Bucky?" the assassin in front of us questions before pointing his gun at Steve.

By reaction, I jump in front of Steve, preparing myself for the bullet, but then, Sam literally comes flying out of nowhere, kicking Winter in the head with his feet. The impact sends Winter onto the ground, but he quickly recovers, looking puzzled as he and Steve share a moment. Yet again, the assassin raises his gun and shoots it at Steve, but I push him out of the way, letting the bullet impale itself into my upper thigh instead. Moments later, a whizzing sound catches my attention before a car explodes ahead of me, and I whip my head around to see Nat. Smoke fills the air as the sound of sirens begins to close in on us, but when I turn back to look at Winter, he's gone without a trace.
