I take a sip of Hyerin's beer, and she looks at me with a frown. In response, I smile and I let out a weird laugh. She looks at me worried, or at least that's what I think it is, because my head is spinning and Hyerin doesn't look so focused to me.
I'm so drunk, that I could throw out everything that's inside of my stomach.
"Should I be worried?" She asks for the third... or maybe tenth time tonight.
I shake my head.
"I have everything under control."
I'm not able to convince myself with that sentence. I feel so bad that I'm afraid that I'll throw up all over the guy who has been stuck on me like a leech. I don't really feel like telling him that nothing will happen tonight; I just let him buy drinks for both of us.
"I think that's enough." Hyerin says, taking the shot in my hand.
I pout.
"Sockjun is buying drinks for me, it would be really rude if I..." I try to make my brain work. "... denied them..."
The guy next to me frowns.
"My name is Seokjin."
I laugh.
"And what did I say?"
"Yes, that's enough." Heyrin says, more authoritative this time. "I'm taking you home."
When she takes my wrist, I move away making a fit. I look like a little girl, but I don't care; I was having a lot of fun.
"Hyerin, leave me alone." I let go of her hold. "You're supposed to be the fun one!"
He rolls her eyes.
"For the love of God, Areum, you can't even say complete sentences."
"That's not true." I make another pout. "Sockjen and I have been doing that this whole time."
"I'm Seokjin." The guy mumbles next to me.
"Sockjen, shut up." Hyerin tells him. "You're coming with me, because we're going home."
Hyerin turns around and apologizes to Jimin, to then push me out of the house. I hear Sockjun complaining, but I'm not able to distinguish things clearly. My mind seems to be in a trance, and the only thing I see is people dancing, blinding lights and how the cold air suddenly hits my face.
"What were you thinking?" Hyerin scolds me. "If you drank something else, you probably would've thrown up right then and there."
We're now outside the house, where everything is quiet and dark. I wrap my arms around myself, trying to warm up.
I shrug my shoulders.
"Like if you're never thrown up at a party."
She raises an eyebrow and crosses her arms over her chest.
"And what does this have to do with me?"
"Well, when you get drunk, I..." I close my eyes with force and shake my head confused. "I'm always there with you. "
"Areum, you're not like me." She lets out a sad laugh. "You're... perfect."
I scoff, upset.
"Maybe I don't want to be like that."
"That's how you are, and you can't change!" Hyerin exclaims. "Stop acting like if nothing matters!"
"You do matter to me, and a lot!" I shriek. "I don't understand why it's such a big deal if, for the first time, I get so drunk that I don't even remember my name."
Hyerin opens her mouth to respond, but she closes it instantly. Her eyes travel from my face, to behind me. I turn around slowly to find Jungkook, who already had some time missing. He has a frown on his face and he looks worried.
"Is everything okay?" He asks, even though he already knows the answer.
"No, not at all." Hyerin runs her hands through her face, showing a frustrated gesture. "You know what? If you like getting drunk, now face the consequences: I'm taking you home."
"What? No, my father can't see me like this!" I complain.
"Then you should've thought about that earlier." She tells me. "I never get drunk if I know I'm going home after."
"No, because you always go to mine." I scoff. "Can't you be comprehensive with me at least once?"
"Areum, when I got you into this, I never wanted you to change your way of doing things. You're incredible, you shouldn't be like me." She sighs. "I... I'm a disaster. And now, it looks like I made you into one as well."
"That's not true..."
"Yes, it is, and I'm sorry." She takes her phone. "It's time to go, we have to go to your house."
"No, please, not my house." I say, tears starting to blur my vision.
"I have to wake up early tomorrow, and I have to meet with Namjoon to talk about things regarding the club." Hyerin sighs. "We said we would go back at this hour."
"Hyerin, I'll take her." Jungkook says. "You can go. When she's better, well leave."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, go calmly, I'll take care of her." He responds.
"Okay, thank you." She says."I'll see you later, okay?"
I can't say anything, because the instant that I see my best friend walking away, I stay immobilized for a few seconds, trying to make my brain process what I just got myself into.
"Are you really drunk?" Jungkook says suddenly, and I notice the hint of surprise in his tone.
"Very." I laugh. "God, I don't even know if it's fun anymore."
Jungkook's eyes are firm on mine. The bit of light from the street defines his fractions even more, making him seem sexy and dark at the same time.
"Come, sit down." He says, taking me to a bench and helping me sit down.
Jungkook sits down next to me and I lean my head on his shoulder, closing my eyes instinctively.
"I... think I should take you home." Jungkook says, followed by a deep sigh.
I don't know how much time passes, but it feels like enough. I straighten myself up and blink a few times trying to get out of my sleepy state.
I shake my head.
"I don't want to go..." I scoff. "I'm supposed to go home sober, and I can't go like this to my house, my father will kill me."
"I know, but we have to go, you have to lay down and rest."
His soft and sweet tone suddenly makes me smile a bit. Jungkook looks at me confused, but I don't care. I just nod and follow him.
Jungkook tells me to wait at the entrance of the place, and I do. I watch him enter the party for a few minutes and then he comes out with keys in his hand.
"Where are we going?" I ask while we get into an unknown car.
He turns on the car and then he looks at me.
"I'm taking you to my house."
His words float in the air, and when he takes off, I feel nauseated again. The only difference is that this time, it's not the alcohol, but the nervousness...
