Once we arrive, I notice that it's just a typical bar: there's people smoking, pool tables, and a bar full of people giving out alcohol. It was completely different to my father's bar, which had a more family atmosphere.
"It's pretty, right?" Hyerin asks, sitting on the first empty table that she sees.
I see a few old men making signals towards us, and I make a horrified gesture.
"Of course." I say with sarcasm.
"You sure know how to hide your emotions." She says with irony. "Come on, it's not that bad."
I open my mouth to talk, but a waitress appears at our table with a smile.
"Are you ready to order?" She asks happily.
"Two coffees, please." Hyerin looks at me and I nod I'm agreement.
"Okay." The girl nods and disappears in the opposite direction she came from.
Hyerin smiles.
"I'm glad we're together."
"Me too, but..." I laugh. "We see each other three hundred and sixty four times a year..."
"Isn't it three hundred sixty five?" She asks confused, and I roll my eyes.
"You know that you always spend your mother's birthday with her."
"True." She says, nodding.
Hyerin looks away, thinking about something. I'm sure that this visit had a second intention, and all the signals point to tonight.
"And well...?" I ask, leaning my head forward.
"Well what?"
"Why are we here?"
She laughs.
"You didn't tell me anything."
I stay frozen. My blood froze as soon as I heard those words, and it's because I didn't know how she figured it out.
"What are you talking about?" I ask, trying to create a natural tone.
"Well, the other day, after school...?" She says and I narrow my eyes at her in pretended confusion. "Don't act like you don't know, Areum, we both know that I sent Jungkook to look for you."
I roll my eyes.
"'the chivalry is on its way'? Seriously?"
"Oh come on, tell me." She says, excitedly. "Did he tell you anything?"
I look at her firmly and I bite my lip. I don't know if I should tell her I kissed him; she's Taehyung's friend too, and maybe she'll get mad for what I did. I don't feel proud about it either, and if she gets mad at me, I'll feel bad.
"He... just took me home." I lie.
She raises an eyebrow.
"Do you really think I'll believe that?"
"Hyerin, there's nothing going on between us." I shake my head.
"Really! He likes you, it's so obvious." She exclaims, and she scoots over closer to me. "Either way, Jimin confirmed it to me."
"I didn't know Jimin and Jungkook were friends..."
"They've been best friends for forever, they go everywhere together."
The waitress soon comes and brings us our drinks. We both thank her and she leaves after telling us to enjoy the coffees.
I take my coffee and I blow on it to cool it down a bit. The memory of yesterday's dream appears in my mind and causes a shiver. I can't believe I dreamt of him. But I would never tell Hyerin, even if it was a joke. It would be way too embarrassing.
She clears her throat.
"He told me that he's chasing you like a crazy person because-"
"He wants to sleep with me, that's all." I interrupt her.
She rolls her eyes.
"Don't be like that, you know I didn't mean that." She laughs. "Likewise, surely he does it better than Taehyung, right?"
"Hey, I already told you that we haven't done it because-"
"I'm not ready." We both say I'm unison.
I narrow my eyes at her and she raises an eyebrow.
"You always say that, and I don't believe a word of it. Jungkook surely knows how to move in bed." She raises both eyebrows suggestively in a perverted way.
"Stop!" I respond, laughing. "Stop talking about that."
"I'm just saying." She shrugs her shoulders.
"Just because he's handsome doesn't mean he's good in bed." I respond defensively.
"Haven't you seen him?" She shakes her head. "I'm more than sure."
"You can't be prejudicing." I say, repeating what she told me a few days ago. "Either way, he doesn't even kiss that good."
The words escape my mouth faster than I can stop then, and I pray internally that Hyerin was distracted. However, luck wasn't on my side.
Hyerin's eyes open wide.
"That you what?!"
I cover my face with my hands.
"I'm the worst girlfriend in the world."
I hear her laugh and I look at her through my fingers. I thought she would be mad at me, but I suppose it's not like that.
"I'm not thinking about Taehyung, I'm thinking about why you didn't tell me." She smiles excitedly. "I would tell you to tell me how it went, but I think I know what you're going to say."
I remove my hands away from my face.
"I have a boyfriend, and his name is Taehyung." I let out with conviction. "What I did was wrong and... I feel really bad."
"You don't love Taehyung, he doesn't even attract you sexually, and you just don't want to admit it." She crosses her arms over her chest. "That connection you feel with Jungkook, is called desire."
I roll my eyes.
"Do you think I'm five years old? I know what it is."
"Then you should let it be!" She exclaims exasperated.
"It's not that easy." I say, because it's true.
What I have with Taehyung is unique, and losing him like a boyfriend would mean losing him forever... and I'm not ready for that.
I know there was a time when I was in love, but I was really young; I didn't understand what I felt and, the day that Taehyung kissed me for the first time, it was impossible to deny anything. He was too sweet, and he deserves someone who really loves him.
"You're scared, that's all." Hyerin looks behind me and then back at me. "But it'll go away."
"Why do you say that?" I ask confused.
She takes a sip of her coffee.
"Would you kill me if I told you that maybe I invited a certain someone that you kissed?"
I turn my head and I see him; he's entering the bar with Jimin, who's laughing. His eyes pin on mine and I could swear that I saw a smirk on his lips.
Suddenly I feel all of my blood slowly draining from my body. The memory of the dream fills me inside and I can't help but to feel even more guilty. I can't look at him face to face without thinking about my crazy and stupid fantasy of passion that I created.
"I'm going to kill you." I whisper, looking at Hyerin firmly.
She smiles.
"I'm sorry, but if you would've told your best friend that you kissed a-... Hello!"
My gaze moves to where Hyerin is looking and I find a smiling Jimin.
"I'll sorry, we're late, I know." He apologizes. "Jungkook had to take care of some things."
I look at Jungkook and my body freezes. His eyes are firmly on me, and for a second I feel like if I'm going to faint.
Don't think about him on top of you, don't think about him trying to put his hand under your-
"It's okay! Bring a chair." Hyerin responds, signaling a few chairs that are around the room.
They do as she says, and while they have their backs turned towards us, I look at her with narrowed eyes and she just shrugs her shoulders apologetically.
I was going to kill her.
