F | Saturday | Seonghwa x San

Requested by Seongjoong_Forever

"Seonghwa! You're offbeat!" Wooyoung shouted to the drummer.

"Huh? Oh. My bad." Seonghwa rubbed his neck.

San turned from where he stood at the mic and laughed. His eyes closed as his dimple appeared. Cute."

"H-Huh?"

"From the top!" Yeosang declared, a grin across his face. The small band began to rehearse once more in San's garage.

Almost every day after school, the four would meet up and practice music together. They had become so known, just about everyone in their high school knew who they were. Seniors and college students would hire them to play, and their presence on social media was doing well.

"Good job. Should we take a break?" Wooyoung asked the rest. He walked over to Yeosang and embraced him.

San looked away from the dating couple and turned to Seonghwa. "Hey. Good job there." He smiled.

"You too. Your voice fits well with the song."

San shrugged. "I guess. It would've been better if you had taken part too, though."

"I'm not... confident with singing in public, San. Especially if we're going to perform in front of the whole school," Seonghwa replied.

San sighed. "I know. You've just never sung before. But I've heard you hum and sing little melodies. I hope you try it soon, that's all."

"San?!" A woman yelled from upstairs.

"I'll be back, guys." San opened his garage door and left.

All of a sudden, Wooyoung and Yeosang burst out laughing. Seonghwa looked up.

"What?"

"You two are so obvious," Wooyoung laughed.

"It's so hard to watch," Yeosang wheezed.

"I'm sorry my confidence isn't as high as Wooyoung's when he asked you out, Yeosang." The couple quieted down.

"Oh, don't be like that, Seonghwa. San clearly likes you back."

"I don't know."

"You don't know? His face becomes a hundred times brighter when he looks at you. He smiles so big when you do something cute," Yeosang answered.

Wooyoung looked around. "I don't understand what's cute, but-"

"Guys, I'm back!" San exclaimed as he burst through the door. "What did I miss? Why do you two look so red?"

"We were laughing because Seonghwa called his voice bad and terrible." San lightly gasped at Wooyoung's words. He turned to Seonghwa and gave him a sudden hug, mumbling words of encouragement.

Seonghwa looked past him to see Wooyoung and Yeosang trying to hold in laughs.

Seonghwa gulped as his finger hovered over the call button. The call was to San. He wanted to invite the vocalist out for a-

It's not a date.

It's just a hangout, Seonghwa thought. Something you can do with any friend. Yeah, right?

"Hey!" San happily greeted him over the phone. Seonghwa swallowed.

"Hey."

"What's up?"

"I... How are you doing?" Seonghwa heard San stifle a laugh.

"I'm doing well. You?"

"Same. Do you want to go out with me?" Seonghwa's heart raced fast. Why did he ask so suddenly? This silence was helping no one.

"Like a date?" Seonghwa couldn't identify what San's tone said about his feelings. It confused him.

"I guess you could say that."

"Well, sure! I'll go out on a date with you, Seonghwa. When?"

"S-Saturday evening?" Seonghwa tapped his thighs nervously. Sweat was building upon his neck.

"Sure. I'll see you tomorrow at practice." San said goodbye and hung up.

Seonghwa swallowed. He had practice. How could he have forgotten? Now he had to see San two days before the date. He has nothing prepared yet for Saturday.

"I didn't want to do this." Seonghwa sighed and dialed another person up.

Words later, and Seonghwa went deaf from the amount of screaming through the phone.

"Hey," San greeted the drummer as he arrived. A small smile fell on his pink lips.

"Wooyoung and Yeosang aren't here yet?"

"No. They'll be running a little late."

"Oh..." Seonghwa didn't want to bring anything else up anymore. His palms were sweaty.

"So, where are we going this Saturday?"

"Umm... I was thinking the park. It won't be boring, though. I promise."

San laughed, something Seonghwa had no shame in thinking it was adorable. "Don't worry. I'm sure anything with you will be fun."

"Yeah."

Seonghwa loved that about San. The boy is always so happy. Well, at least every interaction he's had with him.

"How are we planning this, then?" Wooyoung asked as they walked home.

Seonghwa shrugged. "I'm not sure. It looked good in my mind as a plan before, but..."

"You focus on the food. We'll work on decorating. What did you want the date to be?" Yeosang asked.

"A picnic."

"How adorable. Once we get this set up, San might even agree to marry you!" Wooyoung snickered. Seonghwa looked away with a blush.

Seonghwa felt underdressed on the evening of his date. Is this what he should wear? What would San wear? Jeans and a blazer too?

"Seonghwa!" San greeted his friend with a hug after answering the door. Seonghwa's arms delicately wrapped around his waist.

"Are you ready to go?"

"Yeah." San smiled. Seonghwa walked him to the car. He felt a little bit better now that San was around him. The boy didn't dress as elegant either.

"Seonghwa is that..." San's eyes were wide as he stared out the window. In the distance, there was a glow between some trees. Two figures were still setting the table.

"Mhm." Seonghwa parked the car. As he opened the door for San, he held out his hand. San took it with a blushing smile. For both, it felt soft having the other's hand in theirs. It was so natural too.

"What are you two doing here?" San asked his friends.

"It's not a double date, we promise," Yeosang said as he smoothed out the tablecloth. "We just wanted to help out. Seonghwa had the idea."

"Well, you two," Wooyoung walked over and patted Seonghwa's shoulder. "Don't stay out too late. We have band practice tomorrow."

With that, Yeosang and Wooyoung were gone. Although they never really left. They simply parked the car elsewhere to watch for a bit.

"Have a seat." Seonghwa carefully set the food in front of San. Suddenly San laughed.

"What?" Seonghwa asked. A smile was crawling on his own face too.

"Relax, Seonghwa. Don't be so nervous." San took his hand and squeezed it. It was comforting to the older.

The pair spoke like they used to—as friends who've known each other for a long time. There were memories, questions, but so many laughs that San had tears building up in his eyes.

Seonghwa wiped them away gently with his fingers. "I wanted to ask you something."

"What?" San's voice came out in a whisper.

"I've liked you for a pretty long time." Seonghwa nervously chuckled. He looked off into the distance where the sun was setting. The sky danced with a mix of purple, red, and orange hues. San noticed it too.

"I feel the same way," he replied with a warm smile. "For a long time too."

"So... does this mean-"

A kiss from San cut off Seonghwa. He relaxed into it and held the younger in his arms.

"Yes, Seonghwa. I think you know exactly what it means," San whispered when they backed away.

Seonghwa's mouth curved from cheek to cheek. He took San's hand. "Come."

The couple walked away from the table to sit on a small blanket under a tree. Seonghwa squeezed San's hand as they watched the sunset.

"...Don't let it get, don't let it get, you down," a soft voice sang. San blushed with a grin and looked down.

"You down, you down, you down," he softly added.

"It's gonna end, it's gonna end, no doubt."

San chuckled and touched Seonghwa's cheek to stare at him. "Seonghwa..."

Seonghwa hugged his waist. "I want to sing a duet with you, Sannie."

"So do I. I want to hear more of your voice too." The couple shared another kiss. Then they turned to watch the sky slowly darken in the glowing atmosphere they had created.

"Are you ready?"

San set his hand above Seonghwa's. They were both resting on the computer mouse, ready to click 'Post'. The message consisted of a photo of them together that they'd taken on their special evening and the phrase, 'We're together!'.

"Yeah." San pressed down with Seonghwa at the same time. Seconds later, their post was on their social media site, where it would notify everyone who viewed them. Likes and congratulations under the post immediately popped up. Seonghwa kissed San's cheek and changed tabs.

"Ready to arrange the song?"

San kissed him back. "We only have until the school performance, don't we?"
