Omegaverse AU.
Song Mingi kissed his omega around ten one night. He cuddled with him until they fell asleep.
It was around two in the morning when Jeong Yunho woke up sweaty.
At first, he thought it was the blankets, so he pushed them aside. Then he thought it was the heater, so he turned it off. When he stood up to remove his pants and shirt, Yunho felt a bit of liquid running down his legs. He groaned.
"Yunho? Why are you getting up so... much..." Mingi sniffed the air.
"Mingi, I didn't know this would happen. It's too soon," Yunho replied.
"Get in bed, honey. We'll deal with it tomorrow." Mingi laid back onto the bed.
Yunho looked at his alpha boyfriend. It was strange that Mingi didn't react like he usually would to Yunho's heats. Maybe he's just tired?
"Why aren't you getting in bed?" Mingi asked with his eyes closed.
"Why— I mean— Mingi?"
"Can't you hold it for a few hours, honey?" His voice sounded irritated. Yunho hung his head low.
"O-Okay."
"Come to bed with me." A small smile came to Yunho as he squeezed Mingi's torso before falling asleep.
Well... Yunho didn't sleep that night. He was restless. Having his heat meant he needed attention at the moment. So unfortunately for him, every time he attempted to catch some sleep, he would stir awake out of being uncomfortable.
"Yunho?" A voice asked softly. Yunho opened his eyes from his nth five-minute nap. He tiredly smiled.
"Get up. My photoshoot is in two hours."
"Oh..." Yunho sat up. He cringed when seeing various slick around his lower region.
"Mingi, do I have to go?"
"If I leave you in such a vulnerable position at home alone, I could never forgive myself."
Yunho sighed. He couldn't ask Mingi to reschedule the shoot, right? His partner would go on about how important it is to be featured in a magazine with several important artists.
"I know what you're thinking, Yunho." Mingi shook his head. "And I'm sorry, but this is a chance for me to... to speak to the artists. What if I get the chance to collaborate? To befriend them?"
Yunho slowly nodded. "Alright. I'll go."
Mingi smiled and embraced his waist. "Thank you, Yunho. I love you so much."
Yunho regretted going once they arrived. So many people... ugh.
During his heat, Yunho liked it only to be him and Mingi. That's all. He didn't like when other alphas stared him down but held off.
Yunho had to squeeze Mingi's hand as they walked through the hallways. He didn't feel secure.
"Mr. Song! Over here, please," the photographer called. She talked to the rapper with a smile, welcoming him to the shoot.
"Once your hair, makeup, and dressing are done, we'll have you ready with the others." Mingi nodded with a smile.
An hour and a half annoyed Yunho so much. He had no choice but to sit in the corner, isolated from speaking to anyone, and wait for Mingi to be finished. It hurt to sit still.
Until it was time for the shoot. Yunho kissed Mingi good luck and stood aside, watching the various actors and entertainers crowd to take the pictures.
"Ah! Mingi, could you move a little closer to— Yes, your right. Perfect!" The photographer smiled. Yunho raised an eyebrow at how close his boyfriend was with this actress. She was very clearly an omega. He smelled it. No doubt Mingi could too.
As the photos finished, a sudden movement made everyone smile or chuckle. Everyone except Yunho.
The said actress had taken advantage of an unknowing Mingi, grabbed his cheeks, and kissed his lips. Mingi, embarrassed, stepped away with a nervous smile.
"I..."
"Oh, Mingi! It was only a joke!" She smiled.
"I-I know... It's just that my boyfriend is here and..." Mingi looked around to find no one there.
"Mingi, where are you going? You don't want to view the photos?!" several people called.
Yet Mingi was already running down the hallways, trying to chase down Yunho's scent.
"Yunho? Yunho!" Mingi shouted at a figure several feet away from the building towards a river. The figure walked faster after hearing his name.
"Yunho." Mingi grasped his arm.
"What?"
"Why did you run?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Yunho shook his hand off. "She kissed you... She fucking kissed you, and you didn't do anything but smile?!"
"Yunho, come here." Mingi attempted to pull the omega into a hug. But Yunho stepped away.
"What do you have to say for yourself, Mingi?!"
"It was simply a joke."
"You... You haven't been paying attention to me these past few days... When my heat came, you didn't care!" Yunho exclaimed, tears running down his face. Mingi looked around, feeling embarrassed when he saw several people looking at them.
"Honey, let's talk about this at home."
"What changed you, Mingi?! Is it me?!"
"Let's go." Mingi tried to take his wrist.
"No!" Yunho tried to run towards the river with a face full of tears.
Mingi took a deep breath before running to catch up with Yunho and tossing him over his shoulder.
"Mingi! Put me down!" Yunho sobbed. As they reached their car, Mingi placed him in the back seat. Yunho cried louder.
The ride home consisted of Yunho yelling the same questions at Mingi repeatedly while he choked on sobs.
"Get out," Mingi ordered in a serious voice as they parked. His patience was too short to be tolerating Yunho anymore.
"Yunho, get out. Don't make me carry you again."
Yunho dragged himself up the steps to his home. Once he was inside, he turned to Mingi.
"Do you not love me anymore?"
"What? What kind of question is that, Yunho? Of course, I do." But Mingi was too pissed to sound caring. Although he meant it, he was too annoyed to answer kindly—the way he was supposed to.
"You're lying. You can't even tell me the truth!" Yunho turned, grabbed the nearest object he found and threw it on the ground.
"Yunho!"
The omega found several things on a shelf and tossed them off.
"For fuck's sake!"
Books on a shelf? All on the ground.
"Stop it!"
Portraits of them together? Shattered on the ground.
"Jeong Yunho!" Mingi pulled him with force to the couch. Yunho cried louder after he did.
Mingi stared at him one last time. There was one thing left to do.
"Omega!" he shouted in a demanding tone. Yunho instinctively cowered down into a ball.
"What the hell has gotten into you?" Mingi asked. Yunho only whined in fear, tucking his head into his knees.
"You're crying like a baby, throwing tantrums over a single, unintentional kiss. Do you see what's wrong with that?"
"..."
"You deserve a punishment. I never thought I'd have to do this to you."
Yunho's puffy eyes widened.
"You're getting through this heat by yourself."
"No... A-Alpha!" Yunho reached for Mingi's hands as he stood up to leave. "Alpha, please!"
"You have to understand what you've done wrong, omega." Mingi shook him off before retreating to the guest room.
It was hard for Yunho to deal with this. He's never felt so lonely in his life—even the time before Mingi had been better than this.
Not feeling Mingi touch his skin was horrible. Laying in bed, trying to get through the next wave of his heat alone was a nightmare. Was what he did so wrong? Did he deserve this?
Those same thoughts ran through Mingi's head every night before sleeping. Sometimes he could even hear Yunho's sobs at three in the morning—the wails of an omega pleading for their alpha to arrive.
And after a long, grueling week, Yunho didn't feel as bad anymore. It was like he had gone numb.
On the other hand, something had come up in Mingi's schedule. Someone began to text him—spam him, even. They were seeking his attention too.
"Oh, not now," the alpha grumbled.
Yunho didn't have the energy to cry anymore. It would only make his headache worse. Where did it come from? Maybe it's because he hasn't eaten since yesterday at lunch? The weight of his feelings on him? Who knows?
He stepped out the bedroom door, which was always open, and walked towards the entrance. On his way, he saw one more plate of food to add to the rest: yesterday's dinner, today's breakfast, and today's lunch.
He didn't feel like eating. Eating Mingi's food would only make him feel worse, he thought. Maybe when he was desperate, he'd take a bite.
For now, he'd take a walk for a change.
A sweater and sandals were not enough to warm Yunho up for that evening. Even his ears, which he thought had been protected from the wind by his hood, were feeling colder by the second.
Yunho had no idea where he was going. Eventually, he found himself near the town. People would probably question his state and appearance, but it didn't matter. Nothing bothered him now.
And then he saw it. Yunho had casually turned to press the button so he could cross when a particular place caught his eye.
There, at a coffee shop, sat Mingi and that actress again. Yunho's eyes filled with hot tears.
Mingi seemed to be in deep conversation with her when all of a sudden, she reached over and pressed her lips against his.
Yunho stopped breathing and looked away. He observed his surroundings and found that he stood in the middle of the road. To his dismay, his eyes squinted to see headlights coming in his direction.
"What the hell!" Mingi shoved the woman back. Everyone looked at him.
"Mingi," she tried to say innocently.
"Stay away from me! I've told you so many times that I'm dating someone already! Leave us alone!" Mingi began to leave.
"Mingi! I love you!" she screamed like a madwoman. Mingi ignored her and left the shop.
A certain pulse stopped the alpha. Mingi cringed in discomfort. It was his bite. The one Yunho produced when they first mated.
He immediately began to smell. When he saw a commotion on the other side of the street, his eyes widened, and his instincts kicked in. Yunho was in trouble.
"Oh shit! Yunho!" Mingi ran to find his boyfriend lying unconscious on the ground. A car was stopped just next to him.
"You know him? I was coming down the road when I saw him and—" the driver cried out in pain when Mingi slammed him against the wall.
"What did you do, beta?" he growled.
"Nothing! He fainted before I reached him! None of us know what happened." Mingi set him down and returned to Yunho.
"C'mon, puppy." Mingi scooped Yunho in his arms and quickly hurried home.
Yunho groaned upon waking up.
"Yunho? Are you okay? Here, drink this." Mingi handed the boy a glass of water. Yunho slowly but surely drank it.
"Are you hungry?" the alpha asked. "You haven't eaten, but I've cooked food for you, all warm and ready—"
"You kissed her again."
"Huh?"
"I saw you two kiss, Mingi," Yunho shakily said. He didn't think it was possible, but his body held enough energy to cry.
"She kissed me, Yunho. She's obsessed with me, but I don't feel the same way with her."
"I..."
"I know, Yunho. But you have to trust me. Look at the things she sent me. I met her today to tell her to leave us alone. I had no idea she'd kiss me."
"I don't know what to believe or how to feel, Mingi. This past week has hurt so much."
"I know, puppy, I know. I can't imagine how much it's hurt you more than it's hurt me," Mingi said.
It was now when Yunho noticed dried tears on Mingi's face.
"I felt so alone without you here. My heat was painful when you made it painless instead. I lost the sunshine when you left, Mingi..." Yunho felt the alpha's arms around him as his face buried into the man's chest.
"I'm a terrible alpha for doing that to you. If you're the one hurting, especially from me, I could never forgive myself. I'm so sorry, Yunho. I love you so much, and I'll try to fix how much pain I've caused you."
Yunho smiled with tears. "Get in bed with me."
Yunho allowed himself to be held close by Mingi. He felt full, complete, once he was in the arms of the only man he saw.
The alpha rocked his omega back and forth while whispering sweet words to him. There were many, but Yunho caught a part that he loved the most.
"You're mine, and I'm only yours. My precious puppy, Yunho, I'll always be by your side."
~~~
"Ew!!" two kids' laughter filled the room.
"That's how I made your father feel safe all over again," Mingi told his two children. "It was all my fault—"
"But I knew that your dad could never leave me," Yunho finished as he came from the bedroom. Mingi laughed. "And neither could I leave him."
"Is my prince all ready?" Mingi asked. Yunho passed their two-year-old son, Jongho, to him.
"Wait, dad!" The oldest of six years, San, jumped. "Will I find someone like you found daddy?"
"Of course. You, Wooyoung, and even little Jongho here will each find that one special person who you love. Just like how I found my puppy Yunho." Mingi reached over and kissed his husband.
"Ew!!" Wooyoung and San exclaimed, causing the family to break into laughter.
Ending the year off with some Yungi :'D
