Jungkook

A giddy smile remained etched onto your lips as you plopped down on the living room floor with a bowl of warmed-up leftovers from yesterday's dinner, neatly setting it down onto the coffee table beside your drink before happily beginning to dig in while the food still was somewhat warm; slowly allowing your curious eyes to occasionally peek over towards a certain entity whom comfortably laid on the couch immersed into the book he currently was in the very midst of reading, yet temporarily drawing his attention away from it upon noticing your apparently not so subtle glances— a fond grin now appearing on his lips as he hummed softly whilst lowering his book to look over at you.

Taehyung: I would tell you to take a picture while you're at it since you like secretly ogling me so much but... unfortunately, it seems you're out of luck there petal.

You playfully rolled your eyes at him and his corny ghost joke, neither confirming nor making any real efforts at denying the teasing claim as you merely scoffed softly before gulping down some water to hopefully cool down the heat which had made its way onto your cheeks— softly clearing your throat before efficiently switching the conversation topic in order to avoid further teasing from the male.

Jungkook: Oh right, you've nearly read all the books I own by now, just tell me if you want more and I'll— actually, maybe we could go book shopping together someday?

The entity calmly nodded in approval of the suggestion whilst that fond smile on his lips grew impossibly warmer, stirring lightly so that he could lay on his side before humming as he unapologetically let his fond gaze linger on you whilst curiously switching the conversation topic once more, this time directing it towards work and how things had been going at the café as of lately since he hadn't tagged along for a little while now— instantly working to trigger your excited rambles regarding some potential new menu items Hobi and you diligently had been working on for these past couple of weeks and planned to add in the near future, as well as how the two of you also were in the midst of looking to hire another part-timer or two that could help out around the place given how unexpectedly popular it had become so quickly thanks to it blowing up on social media.

Thankfully the entity didn't seem to mind the accidental rambling he had triggered one bit, and instead seemed to rather enjoy it as he attentively listened whilst appearing both proud and relieved about it all; dreamy almost.

Nevertheless, once you eventually finished your food, you happened to catch a glimpse of the time on your phone before quickly shooting up from your seat to go put the dishes away; only now realizing how much time accidentally had passed during your little chat and deeming it definitely was about time that you start getting ready to head out soon in order to not show up late for work.

Taehyung: Oh right, so how long is your shift today Gguk?

A soft hum left your lips as you uttered out a quick but cheerful ''It's only 5 hours so I'll head home at around 9pm!'' before heading up to the loft area to quickly get changed and fetch your backpack— catching glimpse of how he chuckled softly before gradually seeming to let his focus trail back over towards the book in his hands while he waited for you. After swiftly having ensured that everything such as your wallet, keys, charger, and so forth were in the bag, you quickly closed it up and swung it over your shoulder before heading back downstairs, smiling softly at the sight of Taehyung once again seemingly fully immersed into the book as you tilted your head slightly.

Jungkook: You coming, ghostie?

He hummed softly before shaking his head, uttering out a semi-focused ''You can go ahead, I'll be right with you once I finish this part.''— to which you nodded understandingly whilst allowing an amused giggle to emit past your lips at the endearing sight.

Jungkook: Alrighty, you do that you little bookworm— I'll see you in a bit then!

The playful statement caused a warm chuckle to emit past the tallers lips as he finally lowered the book in his hands, nodding in acknowledgment before gently waving you goodbye once you turned around and headed out with a giddy smile tugging at your lips— mentally making a note for yourself to look up some interesting book shops that the two of you could visit later on where he hopefully could pick out some that personally interested him.

Upon clocking in at the café, you instantly found it just as busy as one could've imagined it to be on a Friday during this rush hour— tables fully packed with a wide range of customers ranging from students to businesswomen and men, as well as people whom casually were hanging out with either their friends or dates; the place was buzzing with a mixture of laughter, the sound of the coffee machines and soft chatter that comfortably blended in together with the gentle but catchy tunes of the cafés background music. However, despite the number of orders and undeniably hectic work environment, none of it surprisingly felt too overwhelming as things still managed to flow on seamlessly to a point where time also just seemed to have flown by in the mere blink of an eye.

It was only when it was time for you to finally clock out, that you realized how a certain poltergeist never showed up to linger around today— presumably having lost track of time yet again given how immersed he had been into the book earlier, which was both endearing and perfectly understandable as you too had struggled to put it down the first time you read it. Besides, today was merely a five-hour shift anyway, and it's not like he's required to be attached to your hip every hour of the day either. Of course you enjoyed the comfort of his presence, but you'd still much rather have him spend time on something that he actually enjoys doing instead of tagging along just to feel excruciatingly bored for hours.

A content hum left your lips as you took off your apron and neatly hung it up before grabbing your backpack and heading back upfront where Hoseok was finishing closing the register for tonight— happily bidding goodnight to him with the promise of seeing each other again on Monday before heading out and starting to make your way back home, only to curse softly under your breath when it suddenly started to heavily pour down out of nowhere; forcing you to essentially sprint down the last few blocks in the hopes of not ending up entirely soaked. Though despite your attempts to avoid it, you still inevitably ended up completely drenched by the time you finally reached your apartment building— water miserably dripping from your hair and clothes as you puffed out a weary breath whilst unlocking your door and stepping inside.

Jungkook: Gah it's pouring out there! Would've been nice if you had brought me an umbrella, but then again, I'm pretty sure seeing a levitating umbrella casually floating down the street would freak people out so—

However, your words came to a puzzled halt upon noticing how eerily quiet and dark the apartment was tonight; mood lights which habitually were turned on by Taehyung at this hour to cozily brighten up the place, deliberately still switched off in what appeared to be an attempt at some stupid scare prank the entity evidently was pulling. And so a soft scoff left your lips while you kicked off your drenched shoes and headed inside, biting back an unamused grin and subtly rolling your eyes whilst somewhat impatiently calling out for the male.

Jungkook: I thought we went over this already, whatever scare prank you've got planned isn't going to work so come out already, dummy.

Yet you were only answered by that same eerie silence, eventually prompting you to begin looking around the place for him yourself; though Taehyung truly was nowhere to be found.

Utterly bewildered by his absence, you stubbornly continued to call out to him whilst double– heck even triple and quadruple checking all the possible nooks and crannies he could be hiding behind— expression gradually shifting uncomfortably with worry and disbelief as you refused to acknowledge that this may not have been a prank and the painfully prominent sense that something wasn't right. Though the sight of the book he so intriguingly had been reading right before you left, now abandoned on the couch with its bookmark still etched between its pages barely halfway through, shattered your fragile attempt of staying in denial as it caused your heart to drop, voice breaking slightly when helplessly calling out to him once more.

Jungkook: O-Okay you got me, I'm actually scared right now so s-stop this nonsense and come out ghostie— it's not funny anymore!

Though in despite of it all, the apartment remained just as eerily silent, cold, and empty...

And it was only now, that you understood why the sky ended up crying tonight.
