13 - It's just the wind
【 Jungkook 】
Lively chatter and warm laughs filled the small living room area as the three of you sat gathered around the coffee table; happily enjoying the delicious lunches, pastries, and favorite coffee orders which they had brought with the, and needless to say, this was by far one of the most delicious and happiest moments that's occurred over the past few months or so.
Their presence felt like a breath of fresh air and momentary relief from all stress and responsibilities which typically weighed heavy on your shoulders, and the way they so effortlessly cared for you in the seemingly the smallest ways nearly ended up bringing you to tears; realizing just how much you had longed for a sense of comfort and security— which you now received a temporary overflowing amount of.
It was hard not to just get caught up admiring the sight of the two of them enjoying the food and drinks whilst excitedly talking about different life events and interests that came to mind in this smooth conversation flow— of course not without the occasional playful bickering interruptions, though that wasn't anything uncommon and arguably just made it all the funnier and more intriguing. You didn't even realize how you accidentally had zoned out until Jin suddenly waved his hand in front of your eyes gently, finally snapping you back to reality as you bewilderingly blinked and straightened out your posture whilst letting out a soft ''Hm?''
Jin: Gguk you're doing that zoning out thingy again— you sure everything is okay?
A sheepish grin spread on your lips as you grabbed ahold of your coffee, using its straw to gently stir the ice around before taking a quick sip out of the delightful drink
Jungkook: Mhm, sorry I'm fine hyung. I just couldn't help but think about how much I missed this— how much I missed you two...
Immediately upon hearing your confession, their gazes softened in awe while warm smiles firmly remained plastered onto their lips, and you couldn't help but let out a breathy chuckle at the sight before mumbling out a timid ''Oh quit looking at me like that'' as you rubbed at your nape shyly— quickly earning a string of warm laughter from the two whom found it endearing and gently proceeded to nudge you or yet again messed with your hair in a playful manner
Yoongi: We missed you too Gguk, you really need to slow down these seemingly never-ending shifts of yours so that we get to see you more often...
Jin: We're immensely proud of how hardworking you are, but please remember you're not a machine— it's always okay to reach out and lean on us whenever you need bun.
Upon hearing their gentle words of comfort and reassurance, you couldn't bring yourself to meet their eyes as tears unwillingly had begun to well up yet again; blurring your vision slightly as you tried to blink them away while silently nodding in acknowledgment
I am not a machine...
The words rang in your mind almost like an echo before you quickly managed to pull yourself together, flashing them a bright and grateful smile while finally raising your gaze to meet their own worried ones again— hoping to lighten the mood as you skillfully spoke without allowing your tone to waver nor crack, knowing exactly what to say in order to quickly shift the mood and conversation topic before it got any more serious than it already was
Jungkook: Just what would I do without you two, hm? Though on a different note, I hope we momentarily can put our brotherly love aside as I clearly remember promising to beat both of your asses in mario kart again
Competitive smirks instantly formed on their lips while you calmly crossed your arms in a challenging manner, watching how one quickly hurried to turn on the tv and console while the other retrieved the three controllers and handed them out as you all moved to get comfortable together on the somewhat cramped couch
Jin: Our lovely baby brother is getting a bit too cocky after beating us once hm?
Jungkook: Oh but it was more than once Jinnie, which is why I am confident I can do it again.
Playful snickers emitted past their lips as you all strategically (or not) began choosing your characters and vehicle parts, and Yoongi sneakily reached over to tickle your side whilst uttering out an equally competitive comment
Yoongi: Yeah right, don't worry we'll go easy on you again Gguk— that way you might have a chance at 3rd place if you're really lucky.
Jungkook: Just wait and see hyung, wait and see!
| Later...
Needless to say, your skills had grown... quite rusty, since the last time the three of you sat down to play together some months ago; thus resulting in another frustrated sigh of defeat leaving your lips as you yet again crossed the finish line ranking a mere close 4th place— at best. The sight instantly earned strings of amused laughter from the other two whom this entire time steadily had kept on fighting each other for the 1st place, and so your shoulders slumped as you defeatedly leaned back in your seat whilst they proudly high-fived each other
Jungkook: Fine I admit defeat— though to my defense I've not had time to play unlike you two who play like what, every weekend?
A playful grin spread on your lips as Yoongi gently nudged your side whilst Jin shrugged teasingly before also comfortably leaning back in his seat— wrapping a consoling arm around your shoulder as a bright smile lingered on his lips
Jin: Well I suppose that's true, you did put up a good fight though so keep practicing and you'll be beating us again in no time.
Another breathy giggle escaped past your lips as you nodded slowly, getting more comfortable in your seats as the conversations effortlessly began to trail off to other topics once again— all while the game's melody softly played in the background. However, the peaceful moment was soon interrupted as Jin suddenly flinched while his gaze focused onto your curtains— a nervous chuckle escaping past his lips as he awkwardly pointed towards the previously still fabric which now swayed in an eerie manner
Jin: H-hey uh Gguk, why are the curtains doing that?
You bewilderedly shifted your gaze over towards said curtains to see what the older meant, only to find a certain entity whom you admittedly had forgotten all about up until now, evidently seeming to have grown bored of silently pacing around the place as he now mischievously stood tugging lightly at the curtains whilst biting back a smirk. And so you shot him a warning glare before quickly turning to face your brothers, flashing them a reassuring smile as you nonchalantly shrugged it off
Jungkook: Oh that? It's just the wind hyung— these windows are poorly sealed so the draft can mess with the curtains quite a lot.
Thankfully your quickly made-up explanation seemed to soothe their nerves as a relived sigh escaped past his lips, mumbling out a ''Oh phew that explains it, freaked me out for a second there'' before a soft chuckle escaped past his lips
Jin: You should really have the landlord get that fixed Gguk, small things like that are what end up making your electricity bill spike up— especially in winter!
Jungkook: Don't worry hyung I'm on it.
Though just as you said that, the stress ball slowly came bouncing down the stairs before it eventually rolled over and stopped beneath Yoongis feet— instantly making the previously relaxed male tense up and look over at you with widened eyes
Yoongi: Uh Jungkook, was that... also the wind?
Jungkook: Oh that's uhm— I think the loft area's floor is kinda... uneven? I must've left the ball on the floor again so—
However, you barely had time to finish your sentence before the two of them visibly flinched upon hearing the sound of Taehyungs purposely more aggressive footsteps coming down the stairs, shortly followed by three eerie knocks— because that idiot has apparently finally learned to do so, at the worst timing possible. Nevertheless, by now your brothers were sat practically frozen in their seats, nervously sharing intimidated glances whilst babbling on about what they just had witnessed and heard in an attempt to make sense of it.
A frustrated sigh escaped past your lips as you rubbed at your temples before yet again glaring over at the stupid poltergeist guilty of these acts, watching how the calmly headed towards your bookshelf before teasingly running his fingers along the books— making direct eye contact with you while another mischievous grin tugged at his lips as you mouthed out a subtle ''Don't you dare'', though the male unsurprisingly did not listen and instead purposely tipped one of the books off of the shelf in a swift move; earning frightened gasps out of your brothers whom shot up from their seats while pointing at the book which now laid on the floor
Yoongi: No fucking way that just happened— did you guys see that?!
Jin: Oh absolutely not— fuck that! Gguk is this place haunted?!
Another frustrated groan left your lips as you calmly got up and picked up the book, placing it back on the bookshelf where it belonged while shaking your head slowly— technically Jin wasn't wrong, the place was in fact haunted by an annoying poltergeist after all, though you'd obviously not admit that out loud
Jungkook: Of course not, you know I don't believe in that nonsense hyung.
Yoongi: Even after all that, I mean seriously— how are you not creeped out?!
You shrugged as you calmly leaned against the bookshelf, muttering out an unbothered ''Look I'm sure it's nothing... Though maybe an exorcism wouldn't be such a bad idea just in case?'' whilst smirking and glancing over at Taehyung whom now had moved to stand directly behind your brothers, the teasing comment earning a soft scoff from him as he crossed his arms before poking his tongue out at you, muttering out a low ''Oh we both know you won't, you secretly like my company too much— nice try though.'' while you merely shrugged in response.
