【 Jungkook 】

A tired hum emitted past your lip while you drowsily snuggled in closer to the warmth that the comforter provided, unwillingly allowing your weary eyes to gradually flutter open— greeting the bright rays of daylight which were peeking in through the curtains before glancing over towards the digital clock on top of your nightstand; it was already a quarter past one, yet despite having slept for much longer than usual, this lingering sense of undefeatable exhaustion still seemed to stubbornly plague your entire body

Nonetheless, in order to not accidentally doze off again, you tiredly forced yourself to sit up in bed whilst reaching for your phone to quickly go through the missed notifications, knowing you should make use of the time you have off from work today to get some of the things done that you normally struggled to make time for; such as grocery shopping and cleaning— not that you were home even nearly enough to have a chance at making the place messy, though the occasional freshening up would always be essential either way.

However, just as you were about to put down your phone to go get started with the day ahead, the sound of two new text notifications suddenly caught your attention and drew your eyes right back to the phone screen which lit up once again

The sight of these new text messages from your best friend instantly made a faint smile tug at your lips whilst you swiftly went on to open the private chat, wasting no time before excitedly typing out a reply to the male

Considering how you already had planned on going out later today to buy groceries, it ended up being the perfect opportunity to squeeze in this much-needed hangout together with Jimin, whom due to his trip abroad, you hadn't been able to see for a few weeks now— and it didn't take long before another text came through, confirming that the suggestion of a time and place you just had made indeed worked for him as well— which naturally was signed off with his usual bubbly ''See you then Ggukie!'', earning a breathy giggle out of you

And so without further ado, you put your phone aside before tiredly dragging yourself out of bed so that you could go get started with the chores ahead— hoping to get as much as possible done before it was time to get ready and head out to go meet up at the café as promised.

| Later that day...

Immediately upon having entered the coffee shop, you were welcomed by the pleasant scent of freshly brewed coffee and newly baked pastries; cheeks still dusted with a subtle pink hue due to the chilly weather outside whilst you searchingly looked around the semi-busy shop interior, soon spotting Jimin who was sat by one of the window seats and happily waved you over as you began approaching him with a warm smile— not even bothering to have a look at the menu, as you already knew treating yourself to some delicious yet also very pricey coffee wasn't within your budget right now

Jungkook: Hey Minnie, sorry I'm a bit late right? The bus was a bit behind schedule since the roads are extra slippery today...

He shook his head reassuringly whilst letting out a cheerful ''Don't be silly Gguk, I practically just got here myself!'' while you shrugged off your jacket and scarf, neatly hanging them on the backrest of your seat before flashing him an apologetic smile

Only a few minutes after having been seated, the little pager with Jimins order number soon began blinking and buzzing— interrupting your moment of catching up as it signaled that his order was done and ready to be picked up. So while the older excused himself to go fetch his drink, you patiently remained seated whilst waiting for him to come back; taking his brief absence as an opportunity to momentarily let your eyes wander off to the dream-like view on the other side of the window, admiring the sight of small snowflakes slowly trickling down from the sky outside ever so gracefully

It wasn't long before Jimin came back, though you couldn't help but frown slightly in a mixture of surprise yet more so confusion upon noticing how the tray he was carrying contained not one– but two cups of coffee; a bright grin proudly plastered on his lips as he placed down one of the cups in front of you while obviously keeping the other one for himself, making your eyes widen slightly as you hesitantly eyed what you now noticed was your favorite coffee order before slowly raising your gaze to look over at him with a sense of guilt bubbling up

Jungkook: Minnie... You know I—

Before you could say anything more, he swiftly cut you off whilst reaching across the table to gently pat your shoulder; that same proud yet also reassuring smile still lingering on his lips as he sternly spoke up

Jimin: Shush it, yes I know you don't like to rely on others— but this doesn't count. I had a coffee coupon that essentially made this second cup of coffee free of charge, so you better accept it Gguk!

A faint smile tugged at your lips as your eyes softened with gratitude, eventually giving in and reluctantly accepting the kind gesture despite not entirely believing that whole coupon story he just told— nevertheless, you slowly brought the cup up to your lips before taking a sip from the caffeinated beverage, a content hum immediately leaving your lips at the delicious taste whilst Jimin smiled softly and comfortably leaned back in his seat

Jimin: Still tastes as good as you remembered it to?

You nodded and flashed him a sheepish grin whilst whispering out a soft ''Thank you'', earning a soft chuckle from the older whom then proceeded to take a sip out of his own drink before hesitantly speaking up again

Jimin: So... How have you been holding up lately— not overworking yourself I hope?

A soft sigh escaped past your lips as you slowly placed the cup back down onto the table, pausing for a moment before shrugging slightly— attempting to appear unbothered as you forced a gentle smile to tug at your lips whilst speaking in a calm manner

Jungkook: I'm managing better now that I've made sure none of my shifts overlap— of course it'll take a while to adjust to the extra hectic schedule, but I'll be fine!

Despite your calm and seemingly optimistic response, the male in front of you sighed softly whilst flashing you that all too familiar look of concern— evidently having been able to read you like an open book once again as he soon mumbled out an apprehensive ''But I can tell you're not fine Gguk...'', making you momentarily freeze up and nibble at your bottom lip while lowering your gaze slightly

Jungkook: Well, I—... there's nothing I can do to change the situation right now Minnie. I obviously have my own financial responsibility to take care of, with the recent addition of Yoongi hyungs hospital bills— though as long as he gets good treatment and recovers well then all this hard work will be worth it in the end.

Jimin: Still... You know I can't help but worry— I can't believe your parents would force you to cover those hospital bills when they're more than capable of handling those costs on their own!

He grumpily proceeded to cross his arms whilst grumbling out a bitter ''Those greedy homophobes, one would think they'd have at least some common sense since they're doctors, but clearly not...'', earning a faint chuckle out of you as you nodded in agreement before taking another sip out of your coffee

Jimin: Ugh even thinking about it makes my blood boil... Anyway, I know you've been really busy, but has anyone at work managed to catch our Ggukies attention while I was away?

The older proceeded to suggestively wiggle his eyebrows as you playfully rolled your eyes at him, a soft scoff leaving your lips as you leaned back in your seat whilst shaking your head in denial

Jungkook: You already know I don't have time for such nonsense hyung. Besides, even if there was someone that caught my eye— which there isn't, dating a colleague is quite inappropriate you know!

Another breathy chuckle emitted past your lips while the older stubbornly crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow as he uttered out a disbelieved ''Oh come on, there has to be someone no? You're too good of a catch to be single!''— only making you burst into another fit of bubbly giggles as you shook your head at his silly way of cheering you up

Jungkook: Sorry to burst your bubble Minnie, but the only thing I'm pulling right now are push doors, and the only one fucking me is life...

This playful remark almost made Jimin choke on his coffee as he burst into a fit of amused laughter— nearly resulting in him falling off his chair while you yourself struggled not to burst out laughing at your own words and the slight chaos it had created amongst the two of you. Nonetheless, in the midst of trying to pull yourself together so that you wouldn't disturb the other customers, you couldn't help but feel this warm sense of joy fill your chest as you looked over at your best friend; feeling immensely grateful to have someone like him by your side, helping to at least for a moment distract you from everything else
