Arvind Singhania. The name that is etched on my heart forever. No, not because of love. He never even regarded me as worthy enough to be considered his maid.

‘You are worthless to even be my maid’ again his words echoed in my ears.

“Is he…okay? Can you please tell me what happened to him?” Raghav's voice brought me back to reality.

“Umm….” Yash looked at me to explain the conditions as I am handling the case.

“Mr Raghav, please come with me and I will explain everything.” I gestured him to move out with us.

We went to my office and settled there. Yash sitting beside me and Raghav on the other side of the table. I had his file in my hands but the curiosity was killing me.

“Umm…Usually we give all the details to the family member of the patient…so if you could call someone…” I started with the usual doctor talk.

“There is no one to call. He doesn't have any family as far as I know and I have been working with him for around a year.”

There is no one?

“Ohh… “I glanced at Yash and he was already looking at me without any expression. 

“You can tell me whatever it is. I am like a family. Actually I was supposed to come with him but I had some urgent work so sir told me to stay back. He said he was coming here to meet someone important and it was not work related so I didn't come along but after some five to six days when I was not able to connect with him. I came here. The hotel staff said he had not come for days and that made me worried. I went to the police station, they informed me about the accident and asked me to check into this hospital.” Raghav explained 

‘He came here to meet someone important?’

‘It was not work related?’

Does he know about me…no…not possible. I am just overthinking. Let's just concentrate on the work at hand.

“Umm…ok.. so as you must have known Aarv…Patient had a major accident where he suffered head trauma. He had severe closed head TBI and bilateral hemotympanum After imaging, we performed left frontal craniotomy and evacuation of epidural and subdural hematomas and resection of a left frontal contusio….

“Doctor, I don't understand these terms.” He expressed his dilemma. Of course how can he understand such terms. I thought of explaining in simpler words

“Basically we had to perform a brain surgery to remove excess blood clots and fluids. Surgery was successful…but still we don't know the after effects of it. As you know brain surgery is very crucial, so the chances of full recovery is …next to impossible.” I had to fight back my tears while saying all this.

“Right now he is in a temporary coma phase and is stable. Our further treatment begins after he gains consciousness, So if you want to move him back home, we could start the procedure. You can go through his file, it has all the details” I pushed the file towards him on the desk.

It would be better that he doesn't see me when he wakes up.

“But is his condition okay to make this travel?” he asked with concern 

“Umm…” 

“Not ideally, but you can take along a nurse or junior doctor to keep a check on him during the travel.” Yash replied to him, giving me a look

“What if we continue the treatment here itself?” this time Raghav asked Yash and gave me a suspicious look.

“It upto you Mr Raghav as you are the decision maker in this case. Just that the treatment could last for months and if you are comfortable to be here that long, we don't have any issue” 

“How many months?”

“Around 2 to 3 months, depending on the response from the patient. He will have to go through some therapies again depending upon the response he would show after coming out of the coma phase.” Yash concluded 

“3 months” he mumbled frowning.

“You can take your time to decide and then let us know"
