CHAPTER XXVII. - ROYAL SECRETS: THE REVELATION OF A LOST LEGACY

Reilly didn't say much as she was getting ready and I lazily exited my warm bed. For some reason my body felt heavy and I was exhausted even though I got enough hours of sleep. Side effect of the timeloop maybe? I was totally in no mood to go sit in the classes or study but I know I need to try and figure out this whole being-a-princess thing. I need some solid evidence that it is true, that Viysus and all of those legends about ancient gods are real. Did I hope that I will get a confirmation? Yes. But at the same time there was a ball of fear growing inside my chest for some reason. What happened that they've decided to ditch me on Earth and was it my fault? I will have more time to think about this if I get to the new Noion texts Professor Coldos received and will have a chance to study them. Now, I have to get my ass into the closet and pick and outfit which right now sounded like a very hard task since my head was foggy and I would rather sleep through the whole day rather than read some mummy-old books.

I didn't bother with my outfit and took only black skinny jeans, paired it with long-sleeve black turtleneck and I will get my leather ankle boots later. After I left the closet, Reilly was all done sitting in silence on one of the couches, dressed in a similar clothes that it almost looked like we planned to dress the same. But this warrior princess outfit looked better on Reilly more than it did on me. She did compliment my choice and joked if I am trying to steal her vibe. First words she directed at me since she greeted me with a good morning and some basic conversation then went silent. Is she mad at me? I wasn't aware of doing anything to anger her but maybe she was tired too? My body is exhausted probably more than hers after all those "beginners" exercises Reilly made me do, but the hot bath helped to relieve some of the tension in my muscles. Like Reilly mentioned, my legs are in a better shape so they don't hurt as much and they can still carry the rest of my body which is definitely in a worse state than my lower body. My shoulders are stiff, moving my arms just by a few inches hurts like hell and even my stomach muscles feel like someone has been punching them.

I asked Reilly if she feels okay to which she replied only that everything is good and then grabbed her backpack and walked towards the door. She saw that I was already putting my shoes on, so she grabbed the handle and waited for me even though she didn't say anything. She is definitely acting weird but maybe something happened with her mom or she is stressed out about her training and that's why she is so quiet?

Me: Is something wrong with the training or your mom? She still trying to push you to being the leader or something?

Reilly: Yeah, that's been going on still but she pulled back to let me focus on The student's week. You know with all that academy comes first, do your best, be perfect so that you can inherit the company, bla bla bla. But I am fine. Are you?

Me: My body is wasted by your so called easy beginners work outs.

Reilly: I told you to work out more. Don't blame me for having tofu instead of muscles.

Me: Yeah yeah yeah, I know. But I promise to join you from time to time or I might perish the next time I have to run up those bloody damn stairs. But are you sure everything is alright? You seem quieter than usual.

Reilly: I am, I promise. And if you need to talk about anything, I am here. Right now I want to know what the hell is that noise that's coming from the hallway is.

Something I need to talk about? So she is pissed about something I did but I am not sure what it is. Did she also notice the timeloop and figured it out? But if she did, I think the loop would reset itself so she doesn't know about my origin. But I will deal with that later. Like Reilly said, I also noticed a loud chatter that is coming from behind the door which is definitely weird since it's only us and Saxa, sometimes her usual company but even those times it is pretty quiet around here. The noises we hear now is something we are definitely not used to. Reilly opened the door with a force and ran out to the hallway, yelling at someone and demanding to know what are they doing here. I followed her out to check out who is she talking to and what the hell? There is a group of students that look annoyed and angry filling the whole corridor, blocking it and not letting anyone pass. Anyone meaning Saxa and her bestie, I think her name is Rudy or something. I asked Reilly once but even though I wanted to know, somehow my brain didn't retain that information. Saxa was angry too, yelling at the unknown students and telling them to step away or she will disintegrate them. Those were her exact words and they sent a shiver down my spine because it showed the difference between us, how much control and power she has that I don't. Not that it matters because my lightning doesn't come from Zeus anyway so comparing us as descendants is useless now, but still, she is so much more stronger than my weak pathetic bursts of kid-level electricity zaps.

Saxa: Let us through you low bloods. How dare you come here and try to hinder my way. Come on, Reira.

Ah, it's Reira. I was somewhat close with Rudy. Upon hearing those words leave Saxa's mouth, they let both of them pass. Mostly because they were probably scared but also one of the male students saw me and then told them to just let them go. Is this about me? Great what is it now?

Saxa: I don't know what business can Chronos kids have with us higher gods and I don't care. If I get back from The student's week, I don't want to see you here.

Chronos is a a god of time if I remember correctly. Shit, are they here because of the timeloop? I couldn't let them reveal it or say anything so I quickly yelled at Saxa to not be rude to my friends and that I have invited them. She gave me a look that conveyed the same threat of disintegrating my ass as she did to those students but I didn't back down.

Me: Do you think you are the only one allowed to call people up here, all your bodyguards that follow you like puppies, and me or Reilly can't?

I don't know where all of this courage is coming from. Maybe because Reilly is here with me and if anything happens she can knock them out somehow, even though I didn't want to drag her into this. But also I didn't want for the loop to restart itself so I need to get them out of here, or at least prevent them from saying anything. Reilly leaned to whisper in my ear, asking how the hell I made friends with them but I told her the truth.

Me: I don't. I just don't want anyone to get hurt or get dragged into this as a bystander and earn more strikes. I am already on the school's radar with all the problems. Just go ahead and I will pretend that I have invited them, then I will catch up with you. Buy me something for breakfast. Something I can pack or carry just in case I won't have time to eat it.

Reilly: Oh so you just want me to pay for you, huh?

Reilly nudged me with her elbow and a smirk on her face. Finally she was in a better mood than she was before. She understood what I am trying to do and even though she probably wanted to stay just in case she needs to protect me, but I only shook my head, giving her a weak smile so that she doesn't worry about me and waved at her as she started to walk away. The guys didn't stop her or block her way, mostly because they were all focused on me. Saxa was still standing with Reira in the hallway, her hands crossed in front of her chest, she scoffed and was going to say something, or maybe even do something to me but Reira stopped her and told Saxa that they will be late for The student's week. Saxa backed up and left the corridor with a warning shot towards me that I will regret this later. I would lie if that didn't scare me at all but right now I need to focus on keeping my secrets.

I opened the door to my room wide and told the group of Chronos descendants to get in so that we can "talk". I tried to not look suspicious, especially since Reilly, Saxa and Reira were still in a hearing distance. The guy that seemed like a leader of this group must have understood the urgency in my voice because he told everyone to quickly get inside. I pressed my lips together and slightly nodded as thanks to the guy who scared me a little bit too. He had read hair that curled a little bit, short stubble that is covering his sharp jaw. His face was defined like he is an actual god. Like one of those statues in the museums, molded perfectly from clay or cut out of marble. I never thought much about guys but this guy is definitely hot and not just because his hair have the color of fire.

Everyone passed around me to get inside my room, leaving me and the leader guy alone in the hallway. He walked up to me, his brown eyes that shimmered with specks of gold pierced through mine but he didn't say anything. He was good three heads taller than me as he hovered above me and only motioned with his left hand to walk inside first, like a true gentleman, or he just might want to kill me from behind. Hesitantly, I got into my room only to be meeted with oohs and aahs from the students that are fascinated by our décor, commenting how huge the room is compared to theirs and that it looks more expensive.

Me: Honestly it's too much for me, I would be glad just to have a small bed and my own space. Doesn't everyone at Umbras get rooms like this though?

Chronos group leader: Not really. We might have it better than Aveus, but even between god descendants, there is a certain hierarchy. You don't know about it?

Me: Not really. I transferred from Aveus and didn't have time to study up the classes I missed. And even before, I didn't know I am from a magical world.

Male student: You are that girl that got misplaced? Katherine!

Me: It's Kaitlin, and yes, that's me.

Male student: Oh, I heard about that and I was interested in talking to you but I didn't see you around. I am Phoenix but people call me Nix. This is Orion, Leo, Zuna and Castor. And our leader-

Chronos group leader: Draco. I am Draco Evren.

I told them mine full name and that it's nice to meet them which at some point it was true but I knew that they must be here on a serious business, not to just make new friends. And I was right, because Draco went straight into why they are here while Phoenix asked if it's okay for them to get comfortable or check out the room. I gave them an okay and then asked Draco to sit down on the couches.

Draco: Do you know why we are here?

Me: After I heard that you are Chronos descendants, I figured it out.

Draco: And what is it, tell me.

Me: You must have some sort of time powers and I was... stuck in a timeloop. It didn't affect you guys?

Draco: Our powers make us immune to time up to some level. We were stuck in the timeloop like anyone else in the world with only difference that we knew each time it reset itself. You are a Zeus descendant so I doubt it was you who cast the timeloop but you seem to know about it. Care to explain?

Me: Wasn't it you then? Like you said, I don't have powers to do that but you control time. Was it a prank or something?

Phoenix: We can't create timeloops. That type of magic is above our level and not anyone can just do that. It takes hella amout of energy. Probably even with every Chronos descendant combined, we still wouldn't be able to do that.

Draco: Nix is right. It wasn't us. Best we can do is to sit out the loop until it figures itself or track the source of the timeloop and try to get to it, explain what's going on and try to break the cycle.

Me: Is the loop broken now?

Phoenix: Yup yup. Thank Chronos because it started to be annoying. I was winning in a ranked match and every time we were close, the loop restarted.

Draco: We tracked the loop to this place. Can you tell us what you know?

Me: I am sorry but I can't. It's not that I have anything against you, I don't even know you to be honest but I can't.

Draco: Then we might have a problem.

Me: No, trust me. I would tell you if I could but that's the problem causing the timeloop. I just hope revealing this to you won't also start it. All I can tell you that it was my fault but I know how not to trigger the loop. And now that I met you, can I guys contact you if it happens again?

Phoenix: Definitely, I wanna talk to you more and if I can spend more time in a rich room like this instead of our dump, just hit me up.

Draco: Can you at least tell us how did you create a timeloop?

Me: I think it was put on me as a curse or something to prevent from certain things about my life to be revealed. Like you must have heard there were some troubles with me being assigned to Aveus as a demigod and that I was brought up without knowing magic. Someone didn't want my powers to be revealed even though I am a descendant of Zeus and there is not many of us left apparently. So please, don't look into this further because if you learn about some parts, it might put us back into the loop. I hope I can rely on you guys to also keep this as a secret, right? Especially you Phoenix, you seem like you like to yap a lot.

Phoenix: Hey!

Draco: She read you right.

Phoenix: We only met but I thought that we are friends and you are already bullying me? But sure cutie, I will keep it a secret. There is no way I am getting stuck in a loop again. And I like you, so you can call me Nix too.

They seemed like nice people and even though we didn't have much time to hang out and get to know each other, I want to talk to them again. Phoenix might be too perky and energetic for me but Draco is a good option if I had to choose someone for keeping me company. There was something about him that was mesmerizing me and I couldn't stop staring into his eyes. It shouldn't be one of his powers because he is not from an Aphrodite's bloodline so I doubt he is using some love flirting spell but it felt like it. Luckily I gathered the last of my rational braincells to tell them that I have to go because I got chosen for The student's week. Phoenix literally pouted while trying to persuade me to stay and talk more but I said I am under Professor Coldos. After hearing that he stopped acting like a little kid immediately and turned full into mom-mode, telling me to go fast because Professor Coldos will get angry if I am late. He reminded me of Reilly and her nagging sometimes which made me giggle. The rest of their group got together and then followed Draco as they left my room, me going after them but I had to lock the door.

We got out of the Zeus dorm hallway and arrived at the main staircase. The group walked down with Nix who is loudly talking about random stuff the whole time and the guys on his side smacking his head from behind, telling him to shut up. I think one of the guys name is Leo. A name fitting him because his hair is slightly longer than others but still seem short because they are twisted in ways like those pictures of baby cupids you can see on the internet. His curls are blond, playing with golden and orange tints as we walked under the lights, reminding me of a lion fur. Other smacking hand belongs to the tall and muscular guy who is so huge that he could easily be a professional basketball player. He is the biggest of the whole group and somehow resembles Zuna and Castor. All three of them have their long dark hair braided in similar locks, their skin in a shade of a dark chocolate and they share a few face features, especially their doe eyes, that makes me think they are somehow related. Brothers and a sister probably. Castor is slightly smaller than Orion but compared to me he is still big. Even Zuna is taller than me and through her clothes that are hugging tight her muscular body, I can tell she works out too like her brothers. Together they are the scariest trio of siblings on the school, at least to me, and I was slightly happy that they are coming with me right now, because Saxa might have left earlier but there is no way telling if she is not waiting for me someone or her puppy boys might be lurking behind corners to jump me. With the whole group we would go unnoticed because everyone was relatively quiet, besides Nix who didn't take the warning slap on his black raven hair seriously and started to walk backwards down the stairs. His blue eyes were locked on me most of the time but he swapped to Zuna from time to time when she told some snarky comment about him being a kid high on sugar or that he is banned from drinking energy drinks. Their bickering made me chuckle because they might not look like it, but Nix is acting like their fourth sibling. He noticed my chuckle and started to pout, that I am bullying him again. He reminded me of Skylar, even though his skin is tanned and not pale white like hers, but I felt at ease with him. But I was also worried he might stumble and then roll down like an avalanche on the stairs. Which somehow didn't happen and I didn't understand how he managed to walk the whole way like that.

We arrived at one of the flat floor points which I found out leads to the Chronos dorms as Draco explained. They had to go now and get ready for classes. I thanked them for keeping my secret and also escorting me. Nix only laughed out loud, saying it's unnecessary to thank them for walking with me but I meant it. They unknowingly protected me from Saxa and her goons, well at least the siblings did in a way with their scary-looking aura and bodies. I watched them separate from me until I was standing alone on the connecting floor, other students walking up or down around me. After they disappeared behind the corner, I searched for my phone to check out the time and I quickly wrote Reilly a message that I am on my way. She replied that she is still waiting for me at the Aveus cafeteria with the girls, so I made my way to them.

I would arrive to the cafeteria much faster but my legs finally caught up with the rest of my hurting body and every step I took felt like needles pierced through my soles up to my thighs. I got there with maybe less than ten minutes to spare so I only devoured the chicken wrap Reilly bought for me and took the cup of hot tea with me. Today we got joined by Gaia and Nima too. I didn't talk much, because I couldn't since I was stuffing my cheeks with the food, but the girls discussed the party.

Jess: We went with Enko to ask for permissions to hold the party but there is a small problem.

Reilly: We still haven't gone to ask.

Enko: It's all done. We also asked for your permissions too and Principal Idarin said he will deal with it. But the problem is, we have to have it tomorrow.

Nima: Why so early? Isn't weekend better?

Gaia: It's probably because of Samhain.

Jess: Yeah. There will be a Samhain celebration held over the weekend but the preparations start on Friday and also we have a test we have to study on. How do you know about it?

Gaia: I am a Hades descendant.

Jess: Oh, so you will be joining us too. Cool. Let's meet up before it starts. By the way, Kaitlin, did you talk to the girls about using their room?

I stopped chewing the tortilla mixed with pieces of chicken, salat and tomatoes after the girls all looked at me. I tried to quickly swallow the food so that I can reply even though there wasn't much to tell because I totally forgot to meet up with girls for lunch yesterday. I almost choked on the bite so I had to take a sip of my tea to ease it up down my throat, then I explained what happened.

Reilly: Responsible Kaitlin not being so reliable now.

Me: I am really sorry. One of the books was enchanted by a spell and it hit me so I had to go clean myself.

Enko: Is that why there is a slight grayish tint on your lips?

Me: It hasn't washed out completely, yeah. But I will text them to meet me for lunch today.

Jess: We do have the permissions so all we need is to get food and drinks, and a place.

I apologized for letting it slip my mind and promised that I will definitely ask them today. Well, I had no other choice because we can only have the party tomorrow and then the girls will focus on their studies and on this weird event going on at Aveus. I haven't heard anything about it. It's held at Aveus so maybe it's their special event. But Gaia is going too so maybe Umbras is allowed to attend? Reilly didn't mention anything about getting ready for an event though. Can people just attend it freely? I was going to ask about it but then Jess pointed out the classes are going to start soon and that we should go. Just in time, I took the last bite and went to clean my tray while still munching on the wrap. Reilly handed me my cup of tea that she took for me from the table before anyone could snatch it.

We got to the floor where the mentors for the girls had their offices but I had to go alone again since Professor Coldos is stationed two floors above. We said goodbyes and then I continued to walk up on the stairs while looking at my phone and texting Skylar about the lunch. Her reply came pretty soon after my message left.

Skylar through message: Weren't we supposed to do that yesterday? You ditched us for some handsome boy didn't you.

Me through message: I did. He is tall, blond, handsome and a really nice guy. He might come to a party too.

Skylar through message: What party?

Me through message: I will tell you more during lunch. Can we meet up with all the girls. I have a favor to ask you.

Skylar through message: Only if you promise to tell me all the juicy bits about this blond guy.

I chuckled because Skylar had no idea the guy, Nathan, I am talking about is actually having a major crush on her, not me. I just hope that if he shows up, everything will go well between him and Skylar. I didn't say anything else about him and instead texted the time of the lunch as a reply to her last message. Skylar replied with an angry pouting emoji and also said that they have to go to class now so we will talk more during our lunch.

While I texted with Skylar, I managed to arrive in front of Professor Coldos' office. He gave me a key from the office but do I just walk in? Safe option is to knock first so I did and waited for Professor Coldos to call me in, but there was no reply. Guess he is not here yet so I took out the key he gave me and unlocked the office. I opened the door and it was pitch black inside, at least until I walked in and the moment I stepped into the office, the lights turned on, illuminating the room with a perfect amount of light for reading but not burning my eyes. Professor Coldos had some things prepared around his table but my little station hasn't been touched or any of the books moved. I made my way towards the table prepared for me and placed my backpack right next to it. I got my notebook for taking notes ready with a pen and additional pencil if I need to draw something, and then started checking the books from the furthest stack on the left, taking the one on the top. I started reading it but it was just a bunch of spells and summoning circles which won't help me figure out this whole being-Ulferonn's-daughter situation, so I placed it on the side and took a second book.

I was down five books already but all of them were either Noion spellbooks or just some stories for kids. I guess even other dimension needed tales for kids to be able to fall asleep or they just wrote down some legends of their own.

Me: How did the books even got here from Viysus anyway?

Male voice: That is a good question. Have you found anything good yet?

I got surprised by the sudden voice which made me jump on the spot and turn around to see who it is. The voice belongs to Professor Coldos that must have just arrived to the office. I stood up and greeted him, apologizing for going in his office without him present but he only waved his hand to dismiss it and said that he allowed it and for this exact purpose he gave me the key so that I don't have to worry about it. He reminded me that I only have to follow the rule which is to not take any book out of his office, if it's part of the new batch. He proceeded to walk to his desk, placing down his bag and sitting down, getting ready to work on the texts too.

Professor Coldos: So, found anything interesting?

Me: Not yet. All of the books I went through are just spell books or kids bed time stories. I wished to find something more... adventurous or forbidden, something that would actually have a meaning if I found it.

Professor Coldos: Thinking about that sigil that appeared on your back?

Me: That too. But I know the book which contains it is dangerous and I don't want to risk creating any more troubles for me or the school.

Professor Coldos: Giving up that easily?

Me: No. But safety of my friends and people I like has a bigger meaning to me than just finding out about my powers or my family.

Professor Coldos: I still took the liberty and brought you this. You can take it if you want.

I lifted my head that was glued to the Noion book I was currently reading to check what Professor Coldos meant by bringing something to me. He is holding a bunch of papers in his right hand with something hand-written on them as he is handing it to me. I went to take the papers and looked at them, while I remained standing in front of his desk. It had the tattoo drawn on one of the pages and then the rest was a copied text, explaining it.

Professor Coldos: I copied the pages containing the information about the sigil you saw, maybe it will help you figure out why it appeared on your back, and I would also like to know about it since this is a part of viable Viysus magic.

Me: Thank you, professor. I really appreciate it. But I still wonder, is no one using these Noion books to cast spells and stuff?

Professor Coldos: Not many people can read Noion so they don't even bother with it. The language is so complicated it has been taken out of the Scriptology class and even if we kept it, the spell require immense amount of energy to be casted. It's dangerous to even try the spells and no one really is interested in spending lifetime studying a language. Some people take it as a hobby, but they give up pretty soon after they hit a wall. Even I am having troubles to decode it completely and my powers make it somewhat easier than for others. And the other reason is that people don't really believe-

Me: That Viysus is even real. I talked to my friends about it but they are skeptical about an existence of another dimension.

Professor Coldos: Correct. Some people say that Noion is one of the dead languages, similar to Latin, and that it belonged to a society which was created right after the magic descended to Earth. There might have been errors in translation and Viysus could be an ancient city, castle or a valley, not a dimension. But even with all that, it all seems like a story created for kids, similar to those you might have read in the new Noion books. Still, they are pretty interesting to researchers like me.

Of course people think it's a made up thing from legends and I didn't care if the Viysus exists or not, the magic is real and someone casted it on me. It must have been hard since Professor Coldos said it takes a lot of energy. Is that why Woreus didn't stay with me? Because he did this spell and it took all of his energy so he died? Only one way to find out and that is to read the pages Professor Coldos brought me. I thanked him and finally returned to my seat.

I prepared my notebook on the side so that I can take down notes if I find anything that would explain what the tattoo is but I mostly focused on reading each word, not missing anything from the text. The drawing was perfect, an exact copy of what appeared on my back so I was one hungred percent sure that this is what I am searching for.

My eyes were getting a little bit tired and dry because I focused so hard on the text that I forgot to blink sometimes. But it was worth it, because there is more information about the tattoo in the copied pages than what I could find in the Professor Coldos' translated book. The sigil is a symbol of carrying the power to summon a familiar. Each familiar sigil differs depending on the type of familiar you can wield. This particular one is connected to Ulferonn and his children from which only two presented the sigil, Woreus and Thaenviel. Sadly I couldn't find anywhere in the text what type of familiar it is because it was kept a secret so that other people who can wield a familiar sigil won't try to claim the Viysus throne. It was a fifty-fifty chance that I might have that ability too since I am Ulferonn's daughter but that part I have to take out of my notes which Professor Coldos requested I show him.

Professor Coldos: Interesting. So this is a Noion version of magician's familiar bonds. Might explain some things about you too.

Shit. Did he figure it out? If so, the timeloop will restart itself and I will be stuck here until I find a way to break it again. My heart started beating so fast because there was a higher chance he found out about my true origin since he is a freaking genius with his Athena powers. I still did pray to god or whatever gods are there to help me and they must have listened because Professor Coldos didn't mention anything about Ulferonn or connecting me to him.

Professor Coldos: All the mix ups with you between Aveus and Umbras could be explained with this.

Me: How so, professor?

Professor Coldos: Noion magic is very old, no one is using it anymore or they are doing it in secret, but despite it being god magic, it's similar in some ways to what magicians use today. Especially with certain rituals, spells or summoning circles. You seem to have a speck of blood from a Noion lineage in you and it got activated when your one of your parents is a god descendant. It must have awakened the dormant small magical gene which was the dominant one for a certain period of time and that's why you were called to Aveus. But after your source has been released, the god gene took over and destroyed the Noion magical line one, turning you into full demigod. But that's just my theory based on what I came across while studying Noion texts. We can confirm it with Ms. Do'or if you want, but I think I am maybe around ninety percent right.

Me: Are god genes stronger than magical ones?

Professor Coldos: They are. That's why even demigods have more power than magicians.

Me: Like when lifting the Imogranums right?

Professor Coldos: That is one good example yes. But in general both genes are stronger than a human one, so no matter if one of the parents is a human, the child will always present the magical gene. You haven't learned about the gene biology in your classes?

Me: Not yet. We haven't had any classes specified for this at Aveus for the time I was there and then I transferred. I only heard about the power of genes from friends and the difference between Medeis, Demiers and such.

Professor Coldos: Hmm. I will have to notify Principal Haydos about this and figure out some additional classes for you to catch up.

Me: Thank you.

Professor Coldos: No need. Other students wouldn't need them since they come from families that explain the basics to them but you didn't have that luxury and Umbras is always taking care of its' students.

Me: I only have one question for now.

Professor Coldos: Ask ahead.

Me: Your theory is that I was a magician at first but then my god gene won. Isn't that the definition of that Morrigan thing?

Professor Coldos: Oh, that's a good point. I think you are primarily a demigod but just because there was a small remnant of Noion broken lineage, it somehow was awakened in you but it was destroyed after the god gene was unlocked to its' full power.

Me: Broken lineage? Is that even doable? Aren't magician genes passed on no matter what?

Professor Coldos: I am glad that you were still taught some basics. Yes that is normally true but there was some sort of cataclysm within the Noion line and it died out.

Me: There is no one from that lineage anymore?

Professor Coldos: Not that we know of. I talked to a genetics researcher who was working on older civilizations and tried to track all lineages. She came across the Noion people and I reached out to her because I was interested in what happened to a whole lineage to just disappear and no one was left to pass down their traditions, language and magic. Something in the gene broke and made it less than a human gene. Since then, mixing the genes with mortals resulted in non-magical children, until the gene was totally wiped.

Me: Does this mean I will get turned into a lab rat and people will probe me, trying to figure out how I am here?

Professor Coldos: I would lie if I said I am not interested in you only because of your abilities to read Noion, but I am purely focused only on the language and the culture. I don't need to know about the biology or what happened to the Noion gene. Also, I don't think you would be of any use to other researches since the gene is probably destroyed again and only the Zeus god gene is fully integrated in you. We saw that with the blood result, even though we assigned it to the magic booster but this is also a solution to what happened. I will have to notify Ms. Do'or about it. So don't worry. Like I said, Umbras is taking care of its' students and we won't let anything happen to you.

I thanked Professor Coldos and could finally calm down since I was lowkey panicking about him turning me in to some laboratory where I would probably get dissected like a frog. After my hand finally stopped shaking, I wrote down the stuff Professor Coldos told me about the genes, Noion lineage and the theories about the Viysus legends. I tried to make a coherent text, one that would help me come up with theories of my own to what happened to me, what might have happened to Woreus and even to Evie, my mother.

I finished my notes and then we started to work on the books that I have already went through because Professor Coldos asked me to help him translate the texts. We are barely in the half of the first book but my right wrist is already killing me from writing so much. I could work faster than the professor in translating the spells but I still had to write everything by hand. There is no way I would use a spell on the pen to write by itself even if I know one because that would debunk the theory of the Noion magical gene beying eaten by the demigod one and Professor Coldos would change his mind about sending me to the genetic labs. So for now I have to suffer while writing everything by hand. Luckily, my stomach grumbled and the noise resonated through the silent room, informing Professor Coldos that I am hungry. He checked the time on his silver male watch that he has tied around his left wrist and then told me I am free to go eat lunch.

Professor Coldos: Two hours should be enough. I have something to do so you don't have to hurry. Go eat lunch with your friends and then we will continue with our research later.

I dropped the pen on the notebook that Professor Coldos gave me so that I can write the translation directly into it and not just papers that would get mixed up or lost. Holding my right wrist, I took my backpack from the floor and then left the office. I got out my phone and texted girls if they are free for lunch now. It was almost 1pm so they could be available. I was still twisting my wrist in order to relieve the tension and pain from writing so much as I walked towards the Aveus cafeteria.

I eventually got there before I my phone beeped with a reply from Solya. I walked into the cafeteria, directly went towards the packed lunches for today and checked my phone in the process. Solya's message said that they are already in the cafeteria eating, so I quickly grabbed box of teriyaki chicken and rice, paid for it and then scanned then whole cafeteria to find the girls. In a few moments, my eyes landed on the familiar beautiful dark curls and got greeted with a soft smile on Solya's face. I moved through the tables to join their group which as I got closer seemed a bit bigger than usual. Maybe because another set of curls, this time in a color of a sunset sun, were sitting between Crimen and Chanti.

Me: Reilly?

Solya: Heya, stranger. We met your friend during Professor Ikaim's classes so we tagged along with her.

Skylar: Come, sit and tell me about your boyfriend, stat!

Reilly: You have a boyfriend? Is it that guy from today morning?

Skylar: Ooh. So you've already met him. Is he handsome?

Reilly: I would say so. I didn't pay much attention to him but I think Kaitlin likes him because his hair reminds her of me. Red curls and all.

Skylar: Didn't you tell me that he has blond hair? Girl, you got two guys?

Me: I have none. Draco is just a friend and so is Nathan.

Skylar: Tchie~. Don't tell us then if you don't want to us to know.

Me: I am telling you, there is nothing going on. What I wanted to ask you guys is-

Solya: You want to use our dorm to hold a party for the winners of The student's week. Reilly told us. And the answer is yes. We already discussed some basics about the food and drinks and we will help you to get it all done.

Me: Thank you guys, but we will do all the work while you can just enjoy the party with us.

The girls protested but I said that we have enough hands to get it all ready and they are helping us big time with lending their dorm room to us. Reilly took out a paper and handed it to me. I unfolded it and there was a budget split between food and drinks, and estimated how much money we will need. At first my eyes popped out when I saw that amount but I should have enough if I combine the money I received at the beginning of the year and add some of my savings to be able to contribute to the budget. But still, after using that much money, I will have to turn into a cheapskate.

Me: Girls, do you know of any way I can earn money while I am here? We can't just leave the school if we don't have permission so I can't search for a part-time job in the outside world but if I don't, I have no family to send me money and all my savings will be gone by the end of this year, and then the next school year, I will go broke.

Solya: They give us money at the beginning of every year and then also after the first half, which ends with winter holiday. Also, there is a good amount as a prize money we will get for The student's week. I think you could ask around the school if anyone needs help and they could take you for a part-time job at the school grounds because I doubt that they'll give you leave permission just for work.

Crimen: You also worked for Professor Nannieya in the greenhouse, she didn't give you anything for it?

Me: No. I only helped out because she is an older lady and moving around heavy pots isn't easy for her anymore. I didn't expect her to pay me.

Kisha: She could still have though.

Me: I didn't get anything after I finished my daily work.

Reilly: Did you check your account?

Me: No? What account?

The girls rolled their eyes, facepalmed me or started to laugh. Then Solya asked me if I received a golden plaque with the money pouch at the start of the year. I had to think about it very hard but then I remembered coming across a weird golden stick which I didn't know what it is, so I only put it away somewhere with my wallet and box with my savings. After I remembered a possible location of it, I nodded and then Reilly explained to me that it serves as a card that is connected to my academy account. All I have to do is go to the bank room here at school and ask what my balance is or withdraw money.

Reilly: I am sorry that one is on me. I should have sit down with you and explain you all the basic stuff around school because you haven't have any family member to tell you about it.

Skylar: Us too. We should have realized you probably don't know all the basic essentials when it comes to the life on the academy grounds. We are basically stuck here for five years with only limited visits to the outside world.

I felt a little guilty for worrying the girls but I laughed it off and then told them they can be my teachers during the party. I also asked Solya to teach me the soundproof shield spell to which Reilly winced and looked at me but I only shook my head and told her that they know about me still being able to use spells. Skylar reassured Reilly that they won't tell anyone and Crimen pointed out that we even did that blood oath and explained it to Reilly so that she is not worried about the secret getting out.

Reilly: Can you do it again but include me too? I know that I am able to keep the secret but still better to be safe than sorry if some telepath accidentally gets inside my head, especially now when I will be walking around Aveus for a week.

Crimen: We can do a new one but it is the same secret so it might clash with the previous one. I suggest breaking the old one and then creating a new oath with Reilly too.

Me: Great, do we need to sacrifice a lamb or something to break a blood oath?

Crimen: Not for this one. I will have to call for the oath and then cut it out of your palm.

Me: Heh, only that? Well, at least we will save a poor lamb's life.

Crimen: It will be painful because we are breaking a blood oath but it should be okay since it's relatively new and hasn't settled over time.

I dropped my fork and left the food in front of me because I lost all my appetite. Crimen apologized but I told her that it's not her fault while Lucy started to pat my back. Reilly was so fast in asking and also snatching my food that she barely finished her question if she can take my food if I am done with it and she was already dragging it in front of her, swapping it for the recently finished lunch box. I got scared a little bit by breaking that blood oath but I also couldn't eat much because my mind was busy thinking about what I have learned about my family today and what more I might still find out if I keep working on the Noion books Professor Coldos acquired for his research.

We waited for Reilly and Skylar to finish their additional portions and also decided to meet up before the party tomorrow to do the oath so that no one will see it. I liked Gaia, Nima and the girls, but I didn't want to drag more people into this. After Reilly cleaned out the lunch box from every piece of meat, we went to clean up our trays and then I had to return to the office and help Professor Coldos with the research.

The girls went towards the classrooms on the first floor while me and Reilly, we had to climb the stairs to the teacher's offices. After the girls, Reilly was the next one to go a separate way and I had to continue walking, up two more floors. The tension in my muscles was getting better in my legs but I could still feel a random stabbing pain if I took a wrong step and I also had to prepare myself for more hand-writing. My wrist remembered the sensation and was already protesting but there is nothing I can do about it.

Or at least that's what I thought but after I opened the door to the office and walked in, Professor Coldos was gone but instead there was a laptop placed on my desk waiting to greet me with a note from the professor that said I can use it to translate the book and that it should be faster. This is definitely going to make my work easier and I won't have to take breaks to rest my wrist.

I took my seat and then opened the laptop to turn it on. It is working with no problems and there is also no password protection so I could get directly in to use one of the writing softwares on it and start typing in the translated text. I left the written part on the side and work on it later, maybe even ask Professor Coldos if I can take the notes with me to re-type it.

I only got through five pages and the professor returned from somewhere. He greeted me as he made his way towards the desk and asked if I made any progress. I answered what I managed to do so far and also thanked him for the laptop.

Professor Coldos: I figured it might be more useful to you than hand-writing everything. And it should easier for you, younger generations, to use this one instead of a classical typewriter. You can also keep the laptop.

Me: Oh, I was going to ask you if I can borrow it and also take the notes I have already translated and work on it in my dorm room.

Professor Coldos: Sure, just not the actual book. The laptop is yours so you can do whatever you want with it.

Me: For real? I only thought you meant that I can borrow it for this week. I can't accept this.

Professor Coldos: It might help you with your studies. Take it as a part of you winning The student's week.

Me: But still, those are expensive.

Professor Coldos: I won't make you if you don't want to. I am just letting you know it is yours. If you wish to leave it here, you can.

My hand trailed the letters of the keyboard which looked totally brand new. The whole laptop was clean and there was nothing besides a few programs to run it. He could have just get me some old used one and I would be content with just that. But Professor Coldos is right, this could help me do my research faster or copy notes for my classes. It felt weird to get a gift from Professor Coldos but since he already went through the trouble to get it for me, I am going to put it to a good use and finish this damn school.

I continued translating the book, or more like just writing what I can perfectly read and typed it into the laptop. I was almost at the end of this book when Professor Coldos called me go check something. I saved the document so that I don't lose all the work I did so far and went to see what he meant. He was currently helping me out with the Noion books and making separate notes.

Professor Coldos: This book seems to mention the princess of Viysus but I am having troubles to get the sentences together. Want to have a look?

I nodded, maybe too enthusiastically, because Professor Coldos got surprised how fast I launched my hands to grab that book but he handed it over to me. I read the part to which the professor was pointing and he is right, there are mentions of the princess which felt weird because that person is probably me. I still wasn't sure if my theory is correct, mostly because Ulferonn and his family are ancient gods, meaning they lived I don't know how many years ago so how can I be only around twenty years old? Or are they also immortal like Zeus and the rest? So I continued reading the text and the next part confirmed my suspicions. My eyes opened wide and I think I might have gasped too but I am in a slight shock right now so my brain can't process anything.

Professor Coldos: Did you find something?

Me: There is a mention of the princess's mother. Her full name is scratched out but I am able to read her first name – Evie.
