Chapter Twenty-Four: Saving Auradon (part two)

     What do you mean you can't use magic for yourself?" asked Marissa. The other three VKs groaned. "How many times have I told you this, Marissa? Fun fact about voodoo: I can't conjure anything for myself." Marissa cocked her head to the side, "Then how'd you get us out of there?" Quinn slapped her forehead, "He got us out of there. Not him...us! Now shut up and listen!"
     Anyway!" Hugh says "I think I'm going to storm into the castle, find Ben, and make him pay! Since... you know, my dad's not on the Isle." Francis looked down, "You know, I don't even think I want to meet up with my dad." Marissa nodded, "I know. That's been the villains' plan since Mal, Jay, Evie, and Carlos first came to Auradon. Use their kids so they can get their revenge." Quinn sighed, "Yeah and this question has been debated for months. Back and forth for not only us, but them too. Are we gonna help our parents or do it ourselves. Be pawns or individuals?"
     This is all so corny, but it makes sense." Hugh stated "And I'm not gonna be 'good,' but I don't want to be controlled. My dad is on the Southern Isles, far away from me, but he's still trying to control me everyday." Quinn nodded, "Yeah. Same with my mom. She makes me treat her like a queen when she treats me like a servant." Francis crossed his arms, "The only thing my dad did for me was teach me voodoo for his benefit. Now... I'm gonna use it for myself."
     Do you know how long I've dreamed about taking over Auradon?" asked Quinn "Us taking over and ruling it together. Get rid of Evie, Mal, Carlos, Jay, and Ben. Send them to the Isle! With the VKs here and Auradon people there." Francis smirked, "That would be so great. Spreading mischief with no worries. Ugh. I am so in." Hugh nodded, "Me too!" Marissa shrugged, "Eh. I don't know." The three whirled their heads at them, "Um.... why?" Quinn asked. "Well... it just seems like so much work. And... I don't know... the AKs aren't so bad."
"No duh! They're not bad, they're good! That's the problem!" Francis shouted.
Marissa rolled her eyes, "I just don't care as much as you guys do."
"Okay, well, if you feel that way then go flee with the rest of them!" Hugh threatened "Before it's too late."
"Hugh..." Marissa murmured "I thought... we had something."
Hugh burst out laughing, "Are you serious?"
The other two started cackling too, "Get yourself figured out" Quinn ordered "If you're not with us, you're against us.

     Uma had found Aria, Eric, and Ariel. After getting her own revenge, she met back up with Evie. "That felt great! Now... it's your turn." Evie smirked, "Well... I already dumped Doug, now it's just the other six snobs, Snow white, and her daughter Star." Uma nodded, "I've got just the thing for you! Wait right here!" She ran off, leaving Evie alone. That's when Mal approached her, "E?" she asked. Evie folded her arms across her chest, "What?" Mal chuckled, "Didn't Uma tell you? I'm on your side. Here, this is for you." She handed her a cupcake. "What's this for?" Mal stuttered, "Well, you know, for fun... a peace offering. Just to ensure trust and also step one of the plan." Evie shrugged, "Okay." and ate it.
     Feel anything?" questioned Mal. "No... wait..." Evie looked like she was about to faint so Mal held her up. Evie closed her eyes, then opened them and gave a confused look, "What... What happened?" Mal explained everything while the others came out of hiding. "So now what?" Evie asked. Mal held up Hades' ember, "With this." Ben nodded, "Then what are we waiting for? Let's go save the kingdom." They were heading off when Evie stopped Mal, "M? Can I talk to you for a second?" Mal turned around, "Of course. What is it?"
"I told myself I would never go back to the way I was before... but I let it happen."
Mal shook her head, "No. It wasn't your fault. Uma and the others spelled you. This whole mess... it's my fault above anyone else's."
"Mal. You have it the hardest. If the people of Auradon don't understand or accept you, it doesn't matter... because we do. We don't expect perfection. And Ben loves you."
Mal wiped her eye, "I know. I've just been so back and forth and I don't understand why. With my dad getting into my head and all the pressure I thought of when Ben proposed. It was messing with my head. And it was so much easier returning to my roots... I just..."
"Kill the weed, Mal. Pull out the roots. There's a new garden in you and people can either walk by or enjoy the beautiful flowers."
Mal chuckled, "Thanks, E... that was soooo corny..." they both laughed "But thank you.
     Ben came back, "Hey... you coming?" Mal nodded, "Yeah."

     I'm not surprised one bit!" Maleficent exclaimed "I had a feeling she was lying. I'm just so disappointed... Oh well! Give me the ingredients, Aubrey!" Audrey rolled her eyes, "Audrey!" "Whatever!" she snatched all of the items, threw them into the cauldron, and said the magic words. She cackled, "Finally! Revenge will be mine!" "Ours!" said the Evil Queen. Maleficent whirled around and saw Jafar, Cruella, and EQ. "Ours, whatever! My sleeping curse will spread all throughout Auradon and then this pitiful kingdom will be my-OURS for the taking!" The villains began cackling as the smoke from the cauldron began leaking out as if it were overflowing and spread over the ground as it traveled to Auradon. Little did anyone in the kingdom know that hiding would not save them from inhaling the smoke which would cause them to fall asleep forever.
