Perfect song for this performance ^
The ice is smooth.
Clear.
Fragile.
The softest it has ever felt while skating on it, but despite it this same delicate tenderness the ice has also began to rise up more of a nervous panic for Jimin once he got into position after doing a round around the ice with Jeongguk, testing it and greeting the crowd.
And as expected, there were many not so thrilled watchers.
Jimin wasn't fazed by it, only focused on making sure he was comfortable enough skating on the ice. However he can't really say the same for Jeongguk since the man does look evidently nervous, and his face only would drop more in displease when he would catch the scowls or grimaces in disgust from others around him.
There's not much that Jimin can do for him to snap out of it, only focusing with eyes closed as they wait.
The second the music began, all that numbness and lightheaded sensation he felt before faded away the second he snapped his eyes open.
And the music completely took over every cell in his body.
The song itself is a dark ballad, Jimin's personal favorites to perform. It's much easier to display emotions and swift movements with a ballad, since it just consists of this overall emotion of sadness with either heart break or being in love.
Jimin knows how to fake those emotions well.
And the song being a dark ballad was like an enhancement.
It's haunting, and Jimin was slowly transforming into the emotions of the song just as him and Jeongguk did their first lift successfully.
"I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream."
Jimin forced a sharp turn during his glide back to the ground, and before his mind could even think about what he was doing next.
He did a split leap, a jump that he usually does in ballet; which consists of a split in mid air.
Jackson absolutely made clear about not doing any jumps in the air just yet, but Jimin was so driven to push out that feel of the song that he completely lost any thought about anything outside the rink.
However that was a reckless move, since he doesn't know how to land his jump on ice.
He didn't show his hesitancy though.
Because he wasn't alone.
Jeongguk's arms caught Jimin by the thighs in mid jump, a quick instinct. The two are spinning now, definitely this not being part of the routine but the two were so engrossed to the moment that the moves came so naturally and appears fluid to the dance.
"I know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam. And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem."
A careless smile fixes Jimin's lips, just for show and to how weightless his body feels as he continues to play around with risky moves he's dared himself to pull. He tested the waters well, getting into his own zone as he attempted more beautiful spins, wasn't holding back to the affectionate contact he gave to his partner to play into the dark theme.
Jimin wasn't just dancing or performing.
He was completely enchanting, not only capturing Jeongguk's amazement by his fluid moves but also the crowd in shock.
And the best part of this was one thing specifically. Just one simple thing that made Jimin feel like he can do anything.
Jeongguk was always there to catch him, and not once staying on the safe side to do decent; but to do amazing.
Jimin was giving him this energy that provoked him to also be risky too. Even if he did manage to not complete a move, Jimin was there to make it look elegant as though it was suppose to be that way.
Whatever one lacks, the other will be there to guide.
Their promise flourishing alive on the ice.
At one point Jimin even began to giggle just as Jeongguk carried him in his arms in a simple lift, seeing the world spin before his eyes. The more he did that, the more he felt the dark energy of the music. It was a sensational high as though he was sinking in deeper and deeper, his glides more sharp and smooth, feeling the satisfaction of moving on the ice without a problem as though he was flying.
And so his eyes moves to Jeongguk, just as he was skating backwards while reaching towards Jimin while the dancer chased after him just as practiced.
"But if I know you, I know what you'll do, you'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream."
And for a good moment, Jimin believed it.
He was so into the character he was portraying that he began to see Jeongguk with that same illusion; as that man he once upon a time loved with all his heart.
Even if it was in another life.
The farther Jeongguk skated, the more trickling of desperation Jimin grew when he became farther from reach. A hallucination that coiled with his head at being too engraved in his own role.
Come back.
Where are you going?
Come back!
Jimin's throat clenched and he skated fiercely ahead, teary eyes watching Jeongguk spin and hold poses with his body as he molds with the darkness and light from the spotlight on him.
Body moving with open movements, just as
he does during ballet, Jimin twirls in desperation to capture the ravenette's attention. Attempts jumps after jumps, even if they were small, glides in a way while holding onto elegant postures with the spotlight falling in love with him to capture it.
While holding an arabesque posture, hands soon found his thighs and on his hips and Jimin's lifted from the ice.
Where Jeongguk was right there back to him.
Jimin drops his head back, a smile so wide on his lips that it ached his cheeks. Despite feeling his head spinning, body begging and dragging itself to drop, breathless now with exhaustion - Jimin didn't stop.
He couldn't.
He's so.... Free.
Even if it was just for a single, brief moment, despite all the pains and numbness, he was free.
All the way to their their ending poses, consisting of Jeongguk dipping Jimin back elegantly.
Just as the music stopped playing.
From there..... Nothing felt real.
The noises that blared around them sounded faint, echoing in a distance, but so unreal that was like hearing a dream. All Jimin could distinguish is his panting breathes, pounding heart, and Jeongguk's small breathless chuckle against his ears.
He's happy.
He should be.
For once in Jimin's entire career, he can say that his partner did well.
Far better than well, for a beginner.
But that's something Jimin's ego won't say so openly; Especially now that he can't focus on anything specifically. Jimin could feel Jeongguk bringing him upright again, but everything felt like a harsh blur between reality just like his vision not that he's standing properly.
He doesn't know what was going on, whether the people were booing or cheering, throwing roses or trash, he can't see clear enough as it all swirls before his eyes. He practically is seeing double, but still managed to smile just for the sake of his image since the reporters are here, before he holds tightly to Jeongguk's arm as they skate to the exit where Jackson is.
And it was the second Jimin stepped to the platform, off the ice and away from the eyes of the people, Jimin's knees buckled and his vision switched entirely black; The last thing seeing is the world fall to the side as he meets the ground.
"JIMIN!"
