Chapter 6
Manami's POV
"See you tomorrow!" I said to my class, beginning the long journey home. It was lonely, but it did go by faster with music, so I plugged in my earbuds, and listened to whatever came on first in my playlist.
Humming along and walking to the beat, I made it home in no time, happy as could be. Just as I walked in through the door, I felt someone grab my waist, making me jump like, 3 feet in the air. I turned around, seeing that it was one of my aunts, not Coldfront, but instead, Melody, a.k.a. Junai.
JUNAI HAMADASHI | QUIRK: DANCE
With any dance move she does, the nature around her moves with her. Through that power of dance, she can command the nature around her to do different things, such as lift people down from buildings, put out fires, and even throw someone far into the distance. If she uses her quirk too much, she ends up stretching her muscles, making it harder for her to move.
"Don't, DO THAT!" I yelled, making her laugh. I only pouted, jumping up on the counter, popping open a container of ink, sipping it.
"I'm sorry, but with how jumpy you are, it's just too funny to not toy around with scaring you." She said, wiping her tears away.
"Why are you even here? Are you and Coldfront going on patrol together?" I asked, cocking my head to the left. Melody laughed again, shaking her head.
"No, I'm not. I'm actually here to train you on controlling your full power." She told me, showing me a power monitor. I gulped, always knowing how well this ends up going.

"COME ON, YOU'RE ALMOST THERE!" She yelled, my breathing even heavier than before, sweating balls completely now. I swear to god, this wasn't gonna work. It never works. The ink I was sitting in was completely absorbed inside my body, only to be added to the huge tornado of ink.
"95%!" She yelled, making me stumble, closing one eye. This hurt so bad now, ink not in my body anymore and trying to use this quirk was awful. Not only that, but part of the training was that I had to make sure that all of my power was swirling around me, not a single drop could be lost.
"I CAN'T DO IT!" I yelled in pain, my arms starting to drop. It hurt to hold everything together, and send more out of my hands. But I understood why I had to do this.
"YES YOU CAN! YOU'RE AT 98% NOW, YOU CAN'T STOP HERE!" Melody yelled back. I screamed in pain, not being able to control the ink. And that's exactly what happened. At the same time as I let my hands drop to my sides, ink began to splatter all over the place. And when I collapsed from exhaustion, the ink collapsed too, revealing undone state. My hair was completely purple, not a single streak of black could be found.
"Manami, come on now. You were so close, you couldn't push yourself the extra 2%?" She asked me as the ink retreated to my body. I let out a grunt, hurting too badly to even move a muscle. Melody sighed, as Coldfront walked in.
"Whoa, what happened in here?" She asked, looking at the scene before her.
"Training." Melody told her, the ink now completely inside of me. I flopped over on my back, trying to catch my breath.
"Ah, I see. Is there any other way for her to control it besides this way?" Coldfront asked, looking at me now.
"I don't know, you tell me." I said, getting up and leaving the room.
"Where are you going?" Melody asked me, standing up too. I turned around to look her in the eye.
"I'm gonna soak in some cool ink, now if you'll excuse me." I said, leaving the room to our indoor ink spa. It was really nice, having a pool of ink for me so I could still be clean without having me drift away into nothingness. I got rid of all of my now ink stained clothing, and stepped into the bath, sighing as the heat spread through me instantly.
I slowly stuck my entire body inside, only leaving my eyes and nose out of the thick substance, my breathing slowing down. This was another way for me to get my power back inside, just sitting in ink for a bit really boosted my tank for ink storage to full.
Being in the bath of Ink simply put me into a calm state of mind, letting me think about the day, and bringing me back to happiness.
It took a good 2 hours, but I was finally done soaking, and so I cleaned off, put on some sweatpants and a sports bra on, and tied my hair back into a pony tail, letting my bangs out. I swung a towel around my neck afterwards, going into the kitchen.
"Ah, there you are. We were just talking about some things you could work on over a break you will soon be getting." Coldfront said, showing me her phone. And to my surprise, Pixie-Bob (yes that is a real character) was on the phone.
"Manami is there? Oh my gosh, tell her I say hi!" She squealed over the phone. I laughed a bit, going into the fridge.
"Hi, Pixie. It's been a whole summer, huh?" I asked her. I could hear her nod as she jumped around with the phone.
"It sure has! We were wondering a few things you'd wanna work on this summer, since we've covered basically everything to make you as strong as you are now." She explained, making me smile as I opened a jug of ink, taking a few gulps, sighing as I finished my take in of ink.
"Uh, maybe Possess and phase 4 if we have time to fit that in." I told her. She wrote it down, before laughing.
"It's gonna be so much fun with you being around this year! You see, your entire class this year will be put through the training camp you did every year since your aunt found you. You'll be arriving with them, but I thought it would be fun for them to see you in action here for the opening test. Also, you have the choice to be a supervisor if you wanted to as well." Pixie told us, making me squeal.
"Of course, I wanna be a supervisor! That's gonna be so much fun!" I exclaimed, jumping up and down.
"Alright, I'll be sure to let the others know! Have fun at school, and we'll see you in the summer!" She said, before hanging up. I couldn't wipe my smile off my face, excited to be with people I know for once.
"That means we can work on your power expansion now?" Melody asked me. I nodded, the both of us going to the training room.
"We talked it out and decided that since all Hamadashi family members are tied to creativity and Arts, the best thing for you to do would to be to dance." Coldfront told me, making me cringe.
"Uh, what? You know I can't dance!" I complained, which made Melody turn around. Her face was a face that I will never forget. It was the evilest of smirks I think I have ever been given.
"Oh, but Manami darling, EVERYONE CAN DANCE." She told me, before grabbing my arm and pulling me into the training room. From that night on, I began to learn how to move with the sounds of the wind, as well as getting a few assigned dances to songs I couldn't understand, but that didn't mean I didn't get to not dance to them, oh no. I had to.
Why did they have to treat me like this?
