FOREST OF THE DEAD
P A R T T H R E E

ONCE WE GOT to the core the doctor went running and we all followed

We found the data core, the doctor looked at it and repeated

"4,000 living minds trapped inside."

"We don't have much time." River said as the doctor took off running again, I followed taking the lead again me being the fastest until we reached a control room

The doctor went to one computer and I went to another, trying to get in but it didn't work

"Help me, please help me" a random voice ran out in the room

" is that a child." I asked

"It's gone into sleep mode and I can't wake it up." The doctor said

"It's in a dream." I Said

"But computers don't dream." Antia Said from behind me

Mr lux took off his gloves and went to a glass case in the control room, opening it up and pulling a lever

"No but little girls do."

Mr lux ran into another room as we all followed to find the statue with a little girls head repeating "please help me"

"Oh my god, it's the little girl, the girl we saw in the computer." Antia Said as we all looked at the data core then the statue

"She's not in the computer, she is the computer, the main control." Mr lux said

"This is cal." He said to the doctor

"Cal is a child hooked up to he main frame, why didn't you tell me this." The doctor said

"She's family" mr lux screamed

"Cal, Charlotte Isobel lux, my grandfathers youngest daughter, she was dying so we built her a library and put her living mind inside, the moon to watch over her and loads of books to past the time from everywhere, she loved books more than anything and he gave her them all. He asked only she to be left in piece, a secret not a freak show." Mr lux said

"You were protecting her" I said, I looked up at the statue while she repeated

"I have to save."

"She saved them all." The doctor said as mr lux came up to touch Cals face in the statue.

"Folded then into her dreams and kept them safe." The doctor said running off into the main data room as I watched cal

"You're a smart girl." I Said as I leant up against the wall

"With little data space left." I mumbled I walked back into the room to find the doctor on the floor and river stood in front of him.

"What the hell happened." I Said as I nearly tripped over a suit. I looked down to find Anita suit now took over with a Skelton.

"Oh, I liked you." I Said as river walked around the room setting things up

"What are you doing river." I Said as I stepped over the Skelton

"Cal needs extra memory to continue to extract people from the library, to get rid of the skeletons." River said

"I know" I huffed

"If the doctor did it, it would kill him so I knocked him out."

"So who is gonna do it." I asked not wanting an answer

"Remember when the doctor took me to the towers, I said I knew it was almost time for me to die, Well today is the day." River said

"What do you mean, you told me that ages ago ." I asked, river came up to me and hugged me, I hugged her back.

"When I found you years ago, you amazed me, I knew who you were, and you will turn out to be outstanding in the future, don't let anyone stop you, promise me."

"River what's going on" I pulled away to look at her but she was still in the embrace

"Promise me." River repeated

" I promise." I Said

"Alexia pond, I love you." Just then I felt a prick in my neck and everything went black

I woke up to see river in a chair, and the doctor handcuffed,

"Auto distruct in 30 seconds." Said a voice in the command centre

"What the." I got up off the floor and held my head, I walked towards river to se where strapped up in wire.

"You knew how I was going to die." River repeated at me

"Oh river." I fell to the floor, I looked around and my eyes came in contact with her screwdriver, if I could grab it, I could get her out, I had to do something. I crawled past the doctor to try and get the screwdriver but something caught my ankle and I was just out of reach

"You need to stop her, protect her, time cannot be re writing for alexia, she needs to live her life till the end." River shouted as tears escaped my eyes, the doctor pulled me away from the screwdrivers and grabbed my bag pulling me up and wrapping an arm around me tightly.

I started thrashing around "what are you doing doctor please I can save her, let me go."

"Spoilers" river finally said as she connected herself to the machine, a bright light signalled her death as the doctors body continued I shield me from the light.

I sat there in the doctors embrace looking at river, who was now dead.

It was meant to be this way, I know but she was my best friend

Once river died, I couldn't bare to stay in there any longer. I grabbed the sonic and chucked it to the doctor before storming away, running into different people, all people from the library.

"Alex" I heard the doctor voice shout as she came behind me, I turned around and looked up at him, slapping him in the face.

"You knew, your future my present, you knew all this time and you didn't even brace me for it, do you understand how much she meant to me, how much she." I was cut off by the doctor hugging me tightly. Hand resting on my head as I quietly sobbed into his suit.

"I'm sorry" he said as I pulled away, wiping my tears as the doctor stroked my cheek.

"I understand." The doctor said

"She'll mean so much to you, you won't believe it." I said as the doctor smiled at me.

"Better be off then." I said as I looked at my vortex manipulator that is still strapped to my arm

"I'm guessing I will see you again" The doctor asked

"Of course you will my love"
