Not The Plan

Remus blinked against the sunlight, squinting up at the guards on the parapets. He could hear Janus' breath - ragged from running - beside him and his own heartbeat was pounding in his ears. Janus' bag was pressed against his leg and one of Janus' hands was on his shoulder. Remus was trying not to think about the contact too much.

"Well?" Janus hissed, still somewhat out of breath. "S'it clear?"

Remus shushed him quietly. "Can't see a damn thing." He whispered. "Little help?"

Janus sighed and his hand left Remus' shoulder. He could've done something or he couldn't have, Remus wasn't sure. But a cloud crossed the sun at the perfect opportunity.

Three guards. One at each post. Nothing too bad.

"Well?" Janus asked again, falling back against Remus. He was so close Remus could feel some lose hairs from Janus' plait tickle the back of his neck.

"Three guards." Remus reported. "Shouldn't be too difficult to take out but you're going to have to be quick."

"No way am I running again." Janus hissed.

"You'll have to." Remus said. "If you want this to go to plan."

"Couldn't you get me over there?" Janus asked. Remus shook his head, still decidedly not looking at Janus. Because he knew exactly what Janus would do. He'd blink those beautiful blue eyes of his and Remus' resolve would trickle down to nothing.

"I don't have enough energy to get you to the castle, distract the guards and get us out of here." He hissed. "So you're gonna have to run."

Janus blew out a breath. "Son of a bitch, fine." He hissed. "Just go and gimme the signal already."

"Fine, Mr Bossy." Remus said, nudging him playfully.

"You love it." Janus whispered and Goddammit, Remus shouldn't feel so attracted to just simply his voice.

"Shut up." Remus mumbled. He closed his eyes and focused on the spot directly behind the guards on the parapet. The world seemed to lift away and he felt the ground beneath his feet change.

He opened his eyes and smirked. Perfect, right behind the guards.

Grabbing a pellet from his belt, Remus aimed his slingshot at the first guard. He whistled to get the attention of the first guard.

Before the first guard had even fully turned around, Remus fired the pellet. It broke against their face, scattering red over their skin. Their eyelids fluttered and they crumpled.

"Shit, didn't know it worked that fast." Remus said. He looked at the other guards. "They'll be fine."

The guards drew their swords and Remus backed away.

"But I won't be." He said. His back hit the wall behind him. A smirk made its way onto his face as a (very bad) idea made its way into his head.

Remus jumped onto the wall, grabbing another pellet from his belt. He fired and another guard crumpled.

"Put your hands where I can see them." The third guard said. Remus laughed and leaned backwards, toppling over the side of the wall.

"Now, now, now!" He yelled. He saw Janus start off in a sprint across the courtyard before closing his eyes.

The world changed around him again and when he opened his eyes again he was on a watch tower. He grinned and cupped his hands around his mouth.

"Hey, bastard!" He yelled. The guard turned and Remus fired another pellet. Gone.

There was a boom from near the palace. Remus laughed and closed his eyes. Now to find Janus.

Janus felt arms close around his waist. He grabbed for the knife up his sleeve.

"Well, ain't this intimate?"

Remus. Janus slapped at his hand.

"Idiot, don't do that." Janus snapped. "Nearly stabbed you."

"Careful, sweetheart." Remus whispered. "Don't awaken anything you can't deal with."

"Make one more kink joke and see where it takes you." Janus snarled. "I dare you." He rolled his eyes. "Whatever. Just get us out of here."

There was a yell from one of the walls above the castle. Reinforcements. Shit.

"Now, would be good." Janus hissed.

"Okay, okay, calm down." Remus said. "Better close your eyes, sweetheart. Don't want you to get sick."

Janus rolled his eyes again but closed them. He elbowed Remus gently and felt the floor lift away from him.

His feet touched the ground again and he opened his eyes. Outside the palace. Brilliant.

Remus' breath was already short. Janus grabbed his hand and gave it a sharp tug.

"Come on." He said before breaking off into a sprint. Remus took a breath and started running. Hopefully he wouldn't fall too far behind.

"Hey! You two!" The gruff voice was accompanied by the crash of a door. "Stop right there!

"How about no?!" Remus yelled after himself, nearly tripping over his own feet.

"Oh for fuck's sake." Janus grabbed Remus' hand and pulled him along. He tried not to think too hard about the fact that he was holding Remus' hand.

"Rem, you're a nightmare." Janus said in between breaths. Remus pointed ahead wordlessly. "Less talking, more running, I know, I know."

Janus grabbed a flash bomb from his bag and chucked it over his shoulder. The boom nearly knocked him off his feet.

"That should give us time now pick up the pace!" He snapped at Remus. He put on a spurt of speed and ran.

Running really wasn't doing anything. There were more guards than them and they were gaining fast. And Remus had absolutely no energy for teleportation so that was completely out.

What they needed was a place to hide.

"Down here." Remus said, dragging Janus down a thin alley that was, mercifully, deserted. There was barely any room so Remus ended up with his back against the wall, Janus almost chest to chest with him. Remus was so tired that he leant his head back against the wall and the way Janus was stood, it looked like one of his legs was in between Remus'.

Janus' hand was still clasped in his.

Remus stared at Janus and started giggling quietly. Janus hung his head, also fighting chuckles. They were an exhausted, panting mess and they were trapped in an alley in a very suggestive position and it was just so damn funny. Remus clapped a hand over his mouth to try and stop the giggles. It didn't work.

Janus pressed a finger to his smirking lips, still fighting faint chuckles. Now Remus couldn't stop staring at his lips. Shit.

Their giggles had died down now. So, here they both were. In an alley. Panting. While Janus basically had Remus pinned against the wall. Not suggestive at all.

"I... I think we're safe." Janus murmured. Fuck, Remus shouldn't be blushing at his voice. "We can go now, I think."

"Yeah..." Remus said. "We could." He stood a little taller, leaning forward a little. Janus was blushing too.

"Or?" He asked.

"Or you could kiss me." Remus said quietly.

"That's... That's not according to plan."

If Janus didn't kiss him, Remus would just damn have to do it. Cause no way was he letting an opportunity like this pass him by.

"Neither is getting caught." He murmured, rising onto his tiptoes slightly so his breath ghosted over Janus' lips.

"Fair point." Janus said and kissed him. And it was absolutely everything Remus had ever dreamed about and wanted. Because they were stuck in an alleyway together, hiding from authorities and they were both panting messes and Janus was kissing him. And it was too surreal to be anything but a dream.

But the very solid, very real press of Janus' lips against his own told Remus that this was anything but a dream. Janus' hand grasping at his jacket told him that this definitely wasn't a dream. And Janus pinning one of Remus' arms against the wall above his head told Remus that if this was a dream, it was the best one he'd ever had.

All too soon, Janus pulled away. His eyes flicked to the entrance to the alley.

"Do you suppose it's safe?" He whispered and fuck. Fucking fuck, Remus had to get his head screwed on right. Because no way could he be that turned on just from a couple of words out of Janus' mouth.

"Maybe we should wait a bit." Remus said. "Just to be sure."

Janus barely met his gaze, he was too busy staring at Remus' lips. "You're probably right." And then they were kissing again and it was different from before. Janus was pressing closer to Remus and the hand in his jacket was moving up to his shirt collar. He gripped Remus' wrist tighter, readjusting his grip, and Remus stood up on his tip toes ever so slightly to deepen the kiss.

And then- Holy shit. Holy shit because Janus was teasing Remus' bottom lip with his teeth and Holy shit because Janus was biting his lip and Holy fucking shit, Remus was about to lose his mind. He'd lose his mind if Janus kept kissing him and he'd probably die if Janus stopped. Right now, losing his sanity seemed to be the best plan.

But his lungs were burning for air and by the way Janus gasped for air when they'd broken apart, Remus guessed he was in the same boat.

Janus sighed out a breath, almost in annoyance. "You're fucking insane." He said admirably. Remus had leant his head back against the wall in an attempt to catch his breath and felt himself freeze when Janus' breath ghosted over the exposed skin.

Neither of them moved. They were both waiting for permission. After what seemed like an age, Remus managed to rasp out a hoarse 'Go on'.

Janus didn't hesitated after that. He pressed kisses up and down Remus' neck, soaking up and revelling in all the breathless gasps and small whimpers that fell from Remus' mouth. Occasionally, he'd mutter something against Remus' skin that Remus wouldn't comprehend because he was so caught up in the fact that Janus was here and Janus was kissing him and it was him and Janus, alone in an alleyway.

And all throughout this, Remus' free hand was travelling lower and lower down Janus' side. Only when it reached his upper thigh did Janus grab Remus' hand and fix him with a playful gaze.

"I don't think this is quite the proper setting, do you?" He asked. Remus swallowed. "I mean, dingy back alley? Screams criminal but not exactly us." He smirked and Remus was sure he forgot about half his life up to this moment. And he'd probably forget the rest if that meant seeing Janus smile like that again. "Sounds safe out. How about we get back to my place to continue," his eyes dropped down the length of Remus' body and Remus was sure he was dying, "business?"

Remus knew he was wrecked but his own quiet, hoarse voice still surprised him. "If you're sure? Cause I'd quite like to continue here."

Janus almost smiled and pressed a small kiss to the shell of Remus' ear. "You might but remember," he whispered, "I'm in charge here."

For the love of all that was Holy in the world, Remus had forgotten how to breathe. Janus was going to be the death of him. But if this was how he died... what a way to go.

What is this? A mix of no sleep, Red, White and Royal Blue and reading some of reactiontolife's more heated one shots. You're welcome.
I think.
Bye,
Blaize
