Morning Pining
I saw a prompt and I need to write it
Remus woke up in what must've been the early hours of the morning. Weak light was streaming through the still-open curtains of the basement and he was in the perfect place for the sun to hit him right in the eyes.
"Just my luck." He thought. He tried to get up with a groan (why had he even fallen asleep in the basement?) when he realised there was someone else on the sofa with him.
Remus fell back onto the sofa and hit his neck on the arm. "Ow." He muttered, trying to work out who was sleeping next to him. Whoever they were, their face was turned into Remus' neck so it's not like it entirely mattered.
Still too asleep to really care, Remus pressed a small kiss to the top of the person's head and shut his eyes to fall back to sleep. The other person hummed slightly and shifted a little. Remus' eyes flew open again.
"Shit." He hissed. Well, now he knew who that was.
Janus. He was sleeping on a couch with Janus Dagger, his best friend who he had the biggest crush on in the history of crushes. Janus Dagger, who had very homophobic dad and who he - Remus Winston, biggest pan disaster of all time - had just kissed. Remus was dead. Remus was just so, so dead.
How had they even gotten in this situation? Janus had decided to come over for a film night, seeing as his dad was out of town for two days and Remus' family was out at their own respective things. They'd gotten through about four films and at what must've been midnight or one am, Remus had a memory block. Most likely, they'd both fallen asleep.
Okay, okay. Wouldn't be too bad if Remus hadn't kissed his best friend! Surely, nothing could be as embarrassing as that.
Apart from the fact that they were both sleeping practically melded together! Remus' hand was in Janus' hand, his other arm around Janus' shoulders to keep him from falling off the sofa. Well, that would explain why Remus' arm was completely dead. Janus' head was in the crook off Remus' neck, his arms were around Remus' waist and one of his legs was in between Remus'. There was no space between them and Remus was sure he was going to stop breathing in a second.
Janus shifted around and let out another little happy hum and Remus was sure he might die. Janus groaned a little under their breath and opened their eyes.
"Jesus, what happened?" Janus asked quietly. Yep, Remus was definitely dead now. He'd passed away and was in some kind of either Hellish Heaven or heavenly Hell. One or the other, it didn't seem to matter.
Janus let out a surprised yelp and pushed himself away from Remus, nearly falling off the sofa.
"Careful!" Remus pulled Janus closer almost on instinct. "I think I'm the only thing keeping you from falling off the couch."
"Oh." Janus said, trying to blink the sleep out of their eyes. He rubbed his eyes. "What time is it?"
Remus shrugged, sitting up with some difficultly. God, how had he gotten to sleep at all? This sofa definitely wasn't meant for sleeping on.
"You've got the watch." He said, removing his arms from around Janus' shoulder now they were both sat up and safely away from the edge. Although, Janus was practically in Remus' lap. Not that Janus seemed to notice.
Janus checked their watch. "Oh, it's only four." He said, yawning. "When did we go to sleep?"
Remus shrugged. "Midnight?" He guessed.
"Oh." Janus more yawned than spoke. Yeah, Remus was definitely 100% dead. "Then, I'm going back to sleep." Janus continued. "I don't need to be home til ten or something."
"Thought you're dad wasn't home." Remus said. But Janus leaned against him as he spoke, taking about half the breath out of Remus' words.
"Mhm, yeah he isn't. If he was, I never would've come over anyway." Janus said, their breath tickling Remus' neck. "But I just wanna get home before I need to, just in case."
"Oh. Okay." Remus practically whispered, not because he wanted to be quiet but because he didn't think he could physically say anything above a whisper. Janus shuffled around and made another sleepy humming sound before deciding he was comfortable and closing his eyes.
"Wow, he must've been really tired." Remus thought, feeling Janus' breath slow and even out pretty quickly.
Janus had ended up sitting on Remus' legs, their head turned into Remus' neck again, lying against Remus' chest. Just to secure him - and definitely not because he was a pining idiot - Remus wrapped his arms around Janus. Just to secure them. Definitely not because he was pretending they were actually dating and the aches in his back and neck were from... something other than sleeping at an odd angle. Definitely not.
*giggles* I loved writing this. So much, seriously.
Bye,
Blaize
