***Ayana's POV***

Everyone made their way to Mephisto's office. Yukio and Shura led the way and Rin and everyone else walked behind them. Followed by me.

I watched as Rin and his friends talked about their regular things and playfully argued.

But the longer I watched him... The more I realized that he has lived his own life... One where I wasn't there...

Why am I here?

Rin's very well happy... He's happy... So why should I just barge into his life when I was barely even there for him? Did I come back because I want to see him again?

Yes. I did.

I'm selfish... I didn't even think about how he could be feeling about suddenly remembering me.

I shouldn't be here.

I stopped on the spot. And stared at the ground.

I shouldn't be here.

I should just go before they notice.

I shouldn't be here.

I shouldn't-

"Hey Ayana! What 'cha doing over there?"

I was snapped out of my thoughts by Rin's voice. Then, I looked up seeing that he had stopped along with everyone else. They were all looking at me and Rin smiled.

I stayed silent. I looked to the ground then slightly stepped backwards.

"Ayana?" Rin questioned.

"... I'm sorry... I shouldn't be here."

"What?" Everyone was confused

"Hey... What are you talking about?" Rin asked

Then I mumbled "I shouldn't be here." Then straight after, I turned around and ran the opposite direction.

***Third person POV***

"Huh?!" Everyone was shocked.

"Ayana wait!" Rin quickly ran after her.

"Rin wait!" Yukio called but of course, Rin didn't listen.

***

Rin ended up in the forest looking for Ayana.

"Ayana!... Ayana!" Rin kept calling but, no reply.

Rin sighed. Then he heard bushes rustling beside him.

"Ayana?" He stared at the bushes, waiting for whoever it was to come out.

Then came out was...

A squirrel.

Rin sighed again.

"Why did she just run like that?" Rin thought.

But suddenly he heard rustling behind him. He quickly turned around and saw a large round Hobgoblin demon coming straight towards him.

"Woah!" Rin quickly jumped to the side, dodging the attack. Rin pulled out his sword causing himself to be engulfed in blue flames. The Hobgoblin turned around and flew towards Rin, so he effortlessly sliced it in half, causing it to disappear.

Rin relaxed but suddenly more Hobgoblins appeared!

"What?!"

Rin kept fighting back. But the demons kept coming non-stop. His flames gradually started to get larger and go into the sky. Rin cried a huge battle cry and kept on fighting.

And meanwhile, while Rin was fighting. Ayana heard his battle cry; which caused her to stop running.

"Rin?" She murmured

Ayana turned around and in the distance she saw Rin's blue flames coming into the sky from the forest she was in as well.

Her eyes widened at this.

"Rin!" Without thinking, she just ran straight towards where Rin was.

Rin continued to fight off the Hobgoblins but he was starting to get tired. His flames were still flying everywhere but he was losing his energy.

"I won't be able to keep this up much longer..." Rin panted to himself.

At that split second Rin was off guard. So a Hobgoblin took advantage of this and tackled him. This made Rin fly back and hit a tree, which caused him to groan in pain.

Rin struggled to get up. He slowly placed his palms on the ground, then push his body up. But right when he lifted his head up, he was completely surrounded by demons.

"Tch" Rin clenched his teeth and glared at them. He was about to grab Kurikara, but realized his sword was not with him. Rin quickly looked around him, but it was no where near him.

Then he looked out to the demons and realized where his sword was.

It was on the floor under the huge crowd of demons.

"Damn it!"

Rin had to think quick.

But the only plan he had was a crazy one.

He slowly got up, then got ready to run towards his sword. but before he could, purple flames engulfed the area, even over powering Rin's blue flames. More than half of the hobgoblins were gone once this happened.

"Huh?!" Rin quickly looked around at the flames around him.

Suddenly Ayana landed in front of Rin.

"Ayana!" Rin exclaimed.

Ayana glanced behind her to look at Rin. "Are you okay Rin?"

"O-oh yeah! I'm all good!"

Ayana stayed silent then glanced at the remaining few hobgoblins.

"Now why are there only hobgoblins?" Ayana murmured.

"Huh?"

Ayana then looked back at Rin and asked "Rin. What did you do?"

"Huh?! Why you asking me?! They attacked me!"

"I'm asking you because there are only hobgoblins here"

"So?"

"If they were attacking you for no reason, there would be other types of demons as well... But there's only Hobgoblins here.... Did they just suddenly attack all at once?"

"Well... No, only one attacked first, then they all came after I killed it."

Ayana's eyes widened then she asked "how... Big was the first one?"

"Well it was way bigger than all these ones" he gestured to the remaining Hobgoblins.

Ayana let out a stressed sigh.

"What?" Rin asked

"Rin... You killed their mother... That's why they're mad!"

"Huh?! Seriously?!"

"Yeah. So let's hurry up and finish this alright?"

Ayana's purple flames swarmed around her as she walked forward and Rin followed with his blue flames around him. Ayana then said

"We need to scare them off."

"How?" Rin asked

She turned around to look at Rin, then said

"I'll need you help me out."

"A-alright"

Rin walked closer to Ayana till he was right in front of her. Then asked

"So what do we need to do?"

Ayana smiled up at Rin, then turned around, so Rin did as well. Their backs were now pressed against each other. Then Ayana said

"We'll scare them off with our flames of course!"

"Huh?"

"Rin. Are your flames fully controlled yet?"

"Umm well not fully..."

"Alright, that's fine. It's quite easy what we're about to do anyway."

Rin glanced at Ayana confused then she continued

"We just need to let our flames burst out, but make sure they don't hurt the demons, or they'll get more angry"

Rin looked down then said "I don't know Ayana... Will I be able to do it?"

Ayana softly smiled then said "you will Rin... Just believe in yourself... Tell your flames what you want them to do... I believe in you, Rin." As she said the last part, Ayana held Rin's hand while their backs still faced each other.

Rin's eyes widened and was shocked, but his face softened. He smiled than said "Alright! Let's do this!"

"Okay on the count of three!"

"1..."

"2..."

"3!"

Rin and Ayana released a huge amount of their flames and it almost engulfed half the forest! Their flames swirled together so, their flames were a mix of beautiful blue and purple flames.

In the distance, Yukio, Shura and the cram students could see the flames flying through the sky.

"Nii-San..." Yukio murmured

"That's amazing..." Shima said

"Pretty..." Sheimi said

Everyone gazed in awe at the sight.

"Wow!" Mephisto was watching the whole thing from the sky as he sat in his floating chair."Amazing! This will be more interesting then we thought Amaimon!"

The green hamster blankly stared at the flames in the distance as he ate his candy.

The Hobgoblins were becoming blinded by the bright light of their flames, so they groaned and disappeared into the forest.

Rin and Ayana died their flames down, then Rin dropped to his knees to the ground and sighed.

"Man, that was tiring!"

Ayana giggled at this sight.

Then Rin turned his head to look at Ayana. Her smile faded, because they both clearly remembered the reason why they were here in the first place.

Rin got up, picked up his sword and put it in it's sheath, then said "Ayana... Why did you ru-"

She cut him off"I shouldn't be there."

"But why?!"

"... Rin... I can't just be barging into your life when I was never even there for you... I don't deserve it... Goodbye Rin..."

Ayana slightly turned around to leave but Rin suddenly yelled "quit running will ya?!"

She froze, then looked at Rin wide eyed.

"Stop running away Ayana! I know before you did it to protect me and stuff, but your free now! You can live your own life! Live Ayana! Live!"

Ayana was shocked. Then Rin said

"And... I don't want you leave me again... Please... Don't go Ayana"

"Rin..." Ayana murmured.

Rin softly smiled then reached his hand out to Ayana and said

"So... Come back with us okay?"

Ayana gazed at Rin in awe and looked at his hand that waited for her to take it. Then she softly smiled at him and slowly took it.

Rin held Ayana's hand tightly and gave her a toothy grin. Then he turned around and the two started to run back to True Cross together. Ayana then thought to herself

"Maybe I can belong."
