***Rin's POV***

"What? You serious?!" I yelled

Tag?! She seriously wants to play Tag?! I recently turned 16 and I'm playing Tag?! I'm supposed to be proving to everyone that I'm mature!

I sighed at this thought.

Well... She's already running so... Why not? No one will see us playing... Hopefully...

Wait... She's already running?!

"That's not even fair!" I whined, then sprinted out the door. I looked down both ends of the hallway and there was no sign of Ayana.

"Uhh... Which way do I go?" I asked myself."umm..." I decided to go right.

This might take a while...

***Ayana's POV***

I just ran around the whole entire dorm. Sometimes I would hear Rin calling out to me and asking where I was.

And I would tease him by calling "over here Rinny-boo!!!" And when I heard him running towards me, I'd sprint to the other side of the dorm. XD

Later, I decided to go to the roof.

Once I opened the door I felt a fresh cool breeze surge through me. It felt amazing!

"Woah! Why didn't I come up here sooner?!" I asked myself

I walked out more and flailed my arms out and let out a big sigh.

Then I turned around and looked at the box-like thing the door is connected to. Beside the door, I saw a ladder the led to the top.

I decided to climb it.

Once I got there, the wind felt even better!

I laid down, closed my eyes and just enjoyed the nice cool breeze for a while.

***Rin's POV***

I sighed to myself and said "it's been more than half an hour! Where did she go?!"

I've been calling Ayana for a while, and before, she would reply so I'd at least have a hint.

But now?

Nothing.

Did she leave? Maybe... Probably...

I sighed again, and decided to go my special spot on the roof where I go to think.

When I got out, the wind felt amazing! Ayana would have loved this... She always did love the wind...

I climbed up the ladder and when I got to the top I saw... A black figure?!

I flailed my arms around and fell off the ladder and hit the bottom.

"...Ow ow!... My back!..." I got up and looked up the ladder. Who was that? I didn't get a proper look.

I slowly climbed the ladder again and popped my head to the top. I got a better look at the person and realized it was Ayana!

She was lying down on her side and her back was facing me.

I smirked. Then I completely climbed to the top and walked towards her.

As I was walking I noticed she wasn't moving she just had slow even breaths.

I had a confused look on my face.

So I knelt down behind her. Her back still facing me, and she did nothing.

I leaned forward to see her face and when I saw it... She was sleeping.

My eyes widened. She really hasn't had much sleep has she?

I decided maybe she could rest in my room for bit. But when I was about to pick her up, Ayana's eyes shot opened.

She jerked up and I realized she was about to punch me! I shut my eyes and yelled "Ayana!" And right when I did, she froze. Her fist was less then a centimetre from my face.

I sighed in relief.

Then I heard her say "oh. It's just you, Rin."

I looked up and Ayana had just relaxed her fist and lowered it. She stared blankly at me.

I sweat dropped and said "yeah... You really are rough when you wake up aren't you, Ayana?"

She sighed and sat crossed legged and said "yeah... Sorry... Force of habit."

"Speaking of that, Ayana. Have you not been sleeping much?"

She looked at me and said "well... When your sleeping in woods swarmed with demons... It's kinda hard to get proper sleep."

"Oh. I see... Hey! If you want, you could sleep in my room for a bit!"

She sat silently, and it looked like she was in deep thought about what I said. Then she finally said

"... I don't know Rin... It might not be very safe right now... I am being hunted by exorcists right now..."

Then I remembered her crime.

"Oh yeah... Speaking of that-"Ayana cut me off before I could continue.

"I didn't want to Rin... But if I wanted to see you again..."she clenched her fists."I... Had to..."

I clenched my teeth "but you killed so many innocent people Ayana! You could have at least tried to get away!"

"I did Rin! You have no idea how much I tried to... What I've been through... But when I refused... He'd threatened to hurt you! I thought he was lying at first but..." She clenched her fist even tighter and tears were starting to form in her eyes.

I stayed silent for a bit. It's true... I have no idea what she's been through... She's been in Gehenna for crying out loud! I felt bad.

Then I asked"...but why did your dad want the exorcists killed?"

"He hates exorcists... Almost all demons do. But I really don't know why he wanted them dead if he could easily erase their memories."

"...Do... You hate exorcists?"

Ayana glanced at me, then gave a small smile and said "no of course not... But I guess they hate me"

"But I don't hate you!"

Her smile faded and she lowered her head so her bangs covered her eyes. Then she asked"why?"

"Huh?"

"Why don't you hate me? I still did something terrible..." Her voice sounded shaky like she was on the verge of tears. Then I said

".... Because... You're still you, Ayana..."

She looked up at me and her eyes were glistening.

I gave her a soft smile and my cheeks were tinted pink. Then I said "you're Ayana... My best friend... We promised we'd be demons together and... I want you to stay..."

Ayana gave a small chuckle

"What?" I asked, also chuckling

"What was that? A confession or something?" She giggled

My face started to burn"h-huh?! N-no... I was just trying to make a point!"

She started giggling more, while I was pouting. Then Ayana stopped and said

"But still... How can you trust me? I might have changed y'know."

"... I can just tell, You're still a good person! And you gave me back my memories of you. Even though I might've ended up hating you."

"But you didn't"

"Yeah. You trusted me. So I'll trust you too! That's what being friends means, doesn't it?"

I then heard Ayana say

"Thank you." I looked at Ayana confused

"Huh? For what?"

"For not hating me... for trusting me. And for making me feeling better... And..." She sat up on her knees and wrapped her arms around my neck.

She was hugging me... And whispered

"Thank you for being my friend"

I was shocked at first, but then my face softened, and I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her towards me and hugging her back.

Then I chuckled "what are friends for? We're demons together after all..."

"Demons together eh... Gosh, that was so corny..."

"Hehe come on, we were nine... And you're the one who made that up anyway."

"Shut up" she said as she jokingly punched my back

We both were softly laughing as we just sat there hugging and swaying.

Then I heard Ayana mumble "I missed you Rin... So much..."

I smiled softly and said "I wish I never forgot you so we could both miss each other..."

I was waiting for Ayana to make fun of me about that comment, but she didn't say anything.

"Ayana?" I pulled my head back to look at her and saw that she fast asleep on my shoulder.

I smiled at this.

Then I picked her up and carried her to my room. I placed her on my bed and pulled the blanket over her.

Then I went to the kitchen to eat breakfast. The rest of the day, I just did the normal things I do, play with Kuro, eat popsicles, fixed that dented floor, read Yukios Manga... Then cry over it...

But around 7PM, while I was sitting on my bed reading, while Ayana was still sleeping; I heard a voice call "Nii-San! I'm home!"
