CHAPTER THREE
SICHENG knew he shouldn't be worried about his lover, but after that night, things changed about Yuta. He noticed that Yuta would feel hot to the touch, and he wouldn't sleep that much anymore. Sicheng also swore that if a sun glared on Yuta's eyes, they were red, but he always told himself he was being delusional. He also noticed how sometimes Yuta would become protective in public, holding him closer than usual.
He didn't mind the last part, but the small things scared him. He was worried, and didn't know the reason why. Sicheng decided to meet up with a friend, hoping to get answers as his friend was a very smart one, and did much research over topics such as his.
Yuta was asleep, finally, and Sicheng went out to meet up with his friend. He decided not to tell Yuta about the secret meetup, he feared that Yuta would get angry or confused. He didn't want to break any trust.
Walking to a small cafe located in a small corner, he walked in the small building to see his friend sitting at a far table isolated away from everyone else. He walked over, and that's when his friend noticed him and looked up.
"Hey Sicheng, little late don't ya think?" His friend showed off a bunny like smile teasingly.
"Yea yea, I had to wait for Yuta to fall asleep." Sicheng said as he sat down.
"So what can you tell me about Yuta?" Doyoung, his friend, went straight to the questioning. Opening his laptop in the process.
"Well, first off he's been hotter than usual. His body temperature is a 100 or over usual. He's also been, possessive I could say? He barely lets me out in public and doesn't like me doing these type of things without him. Also, it sounds childish, but his eyes turn red whenever the sun shines on them." Sicheng felt stupid saying the last sentence, but Doyoung asked for all of it.
"Hmm..." Doyoung hummed as he stared at his laptop, and then back at Sicheng. He sighed and leaned back, closing his eyes.
"You won't believe me if I told you what was wrong with Yuta." Doyoung says, opening his eyes and looking at Sicheng.
"What? Why not?" Sicheng asks.
"Because, if I told you, you'd call me a psycho and weirdo." Doyoung says flatly.
"Well tell me!" Sicheng says.
Doyoung takes a slight pause as he sighs.
"Yuta's a demon." Doyoung says.
A moment of silence passes by, many following along. Sicheng stares at the table, his mind thinking this through. Yuta, his own lover, a demon. He thought demon's weren't real, he also thought they were extinct. He couldn't believe it.
"I can't believe it." Sicheng whispers as he stares at nothing.
"Told ya." Doyoung says, unbothered almost.
"Yuta, a demon." Sicheng says.
"Yep."
At first Sicheng didn't believe in one word that came out of Doyoung's mouth, but then he thought of all the research he must've done, and how Yuta was acting.
"What do I do?" Sicheng asks, looking back at Doyoung. Almost wide eyed.
"There's nothing you can do, he is who he is now." Doyoung says.
Sicheng didn't know what to think, what to do, what to say. All he could think is, Yuta's a demon. His lover, his world, his life, is a demon.
"I'm dead." Sicheng whispers as he lays his head on the table.
"Not entirely." Doyoung says, his voice a slight happy tone to it.
"What?" Sicheng says, turning his head to look at the other.
"Research's proven that a lovers demon will not hurt them, and it's rare that they kill them or harm them. Which gives up the fact that demons are possessive over what's theirs, and doesn't want to share." Doyoung states.
"So...I'm ok?" Sicheng asks slowly, blinking.
"Yes, but still be careful, scientist are not very kind." Doyoung says frowning.
"Thank the heavens above." Sicheng says dramatically as he lifts his head off the table.
They then spend some time reading off of articles, and doing research over demon's. Sicheng learns that demons can become especially aggressive during full moons, and that's when they show their true form. He was confused by that one. He also learned that their so hot because their blood is heated, and always ready to heal itself. He was confused on that too.
In conclusion, Sicheng didn't understand a single thing about demons. They sounded like hot blooded vampires to him.
"I think I should get going, Yuta doesn't sleep well." Sicheng suddenly says, and Doyoung agrees as they split their ways.
As Sicheng walks home, he gets a sudden phone call. Answering the phone, he didn't expect his lover on the other end.
"Where are you?" Yuta's voice was low, almost a growl, it somewhat shook Sicheng.
"I was—"
"Get home. Now." Was all Yuta said before hanging up.
Sicheng took the phone away from his ear to look at it with surprise. He then quickened his pace as he looked up to the sky.
A full moon.
It almost scared him at he sight of his house, but he quickly walked to the door and opened in. Walking in he shut it, and that's when he heard footsteps. Yuta came into sight.
"Where were you!" Yuta yelled, and Sicheng flinched at the tone.
"I- I was with a friend—" Sicheng whispered, but was cut off by a crash of a vase. Yuta had pushed a vase off a desk, and that's when Sicheng noticed the mirror beside him shattered. He then noticed the crashed place, Yuta had ruined it.
"With a friend huh? Who?" Yuta demanded, and Sicheng felt his eyes get teary at the tone. Curse his softness.
"D-Doyoung." Sicheng said, his voice almost trembling in fear as he told him.
Sicheng's legs felt like jelly whenever Yuta walked right up to him, and slammed his arm on the door. Sicheng flinched in fear, his heart racing as he closed his eyes shut.
"What were you doing with him?" Yuta asked harshly.
Sicheng was too scared to reply, his frame shaking. He then felt a hand cup up to his face, and jerk it up as he opened his eyes. Meeting not brown orbs, but reddish ones. He was fearful now.
'More aggressive when a full moon.'
Those words rang through Sicheng's head, and he cursed for not being more cautious.
"Answer me!" Yuta yelled, and Sicheng shook again.
"S-stop— your scaring me—" Sicheng tried to speak, but was cut off as he was grabbed by the collar and dragged to their room. Sicheng tried to fight Yuta's hands, fearful of him.
"Yuta—" Sicheng cried, and he felt a tear go down his cheek. He felt himself being thrown into a corner of their room, and he fell onto the floor. He then backed into a corner, fear filled his eyes seeing Yuta's state. Eyes red, and Sicheng could see the anger.
He then noticed their room, all jacked up, everything was everywhere. He then looked back at Yuta, who was slowly coming closer.
Sicheng tried to speak, but couldn't as he felt a sob in his throat. Instead he curled himself into a ball, and let tears run down his cheek.
Yuta got so close he could feel his presence, and that's when he couldn't take it anymore.
"Yuta please!" Sicheng cried at the top of his lungs, it was shrilling as it struck the air.
It was like everything stopped, and he slowly opened his eyes to see Yuta staring down at him. Sicheng saw brown color in his eyes, but the red still shadowing it. He saw the almost scared face.
Yuta then looked at his hands, and looked across the room to a desk mirror that was shattered. He saw himself, but it wasn't him.
It was a demon.
He staggered back into a wall, and Sicheng watched in shock and fear as the other looked towards him once more. Then, he ran out of the room without another word, fear covering his face.
Sicheng was in all shock, he was to shook, to scared to even move. Fearing if he did then he would be found or attacked. He couldn't help but feel more tears run down his cheeks, and he then laid his head into his arms.
He cried, thinking about his lover as he did.
Yuta was a demon, and he couldn't change that.
