7. Blood In the Water
Early morning, Beverly called all the losers about meeting her at her apartment. Luckily, she called Stan before Katherine could leave, all she had to do was hide in the closet when Stan's dad came in to talk to Stan about his upcoming bar mitzvah. She snuck out Stan's window, climbing down a tree near the window. Stan came out shortly, got on his bike with Katherine on the back and pedaled towards Beverly's apartment.
As they got closer, she saw the rest of the boys coming from another street. Bill looked questioningly at her but didn't say anything.
Beverly was sitting on the fire escape stairs until she heard the sound of Stan and Eddie bickering about why they were there. She stood up quickly, dropping the cigarette she was smoking and rushed down to meet the losers.
"I need to..." Beverly began. "I need to show you something."
"What is it?" Katherine asked, sliding off of Stan's bike and seeing her anxious body language.
"More than we saw at the quarry?" Richie joked.
"Shut up! Just shut up, Richie!" Eddie snapped.
"My dad will kill me if he finds out that I had boys in the apartment," Beverly stated.
"W-W-W-W-We'll leave a lookout," Bill reassured her as everyone all dropped their bikes except for Stan who just dropped the kickstand. "Now Richie, just s-s-s-stay here."
"Woah, woah, woah," Richie began. "What if her dad comes back?"
Stan stopped, looking to Richie. "Do what you always do. Start talking."
"It is a gift," Richie called, weakly as Katherine pulled Stan up the stairs.
The rest of the losers walked the hall of the Marsh apartment, the redhead and them arriving in front of a closed door. "In there..." Beverly trailed off
"What is it?" Stan asked nervously.
"You'll see."
As the losers walked closer to the door, Eddie ranted, "Great, bringing us to the bathroom. You know that 89% of the worse accidents occur in the bathroom and kitchen. And that's where all the bacteria and fungi are... and it is not a sanitary place..." He quieted down when Katherine gripped his hand. Bill pushed the door open, revealing something like blood covering the bathroom from top to bottom. "I knew it," Eddie uttered with a small gag.
"Do you see it?" Beverly asked.
"I see...something," Katherine stated. "What happened in here?"
"My dad couldn't see it, I thought that I might be crazy."
Ben hummed. "Well if you're crazy, then we're all crazy."
"I agree with that," Katherine said, pointing to the boy.
"We c-c-c-can't leave it like this," Bill spoke.
"I agree with that too," Katherine stated before looking to Beverly. "Do you have any cleaning supplies?"
Shortly everyone was cleaning the blood away. Katherine scrubbed at the tub which Stan stood in, wiping the blood from the single window and walls. Ben and Bill moped the floors. Eddie wiped the blood off the walls, gagging every few moments. Beverly wiped the sink and mirror down.
When Stan bent down to clean from a better angle, Katherine smacked his butt which earned a small outburst from him but she only giggled. Bill stopped cleaning for a moment to see them interact, he just shook his head and continued.
Most of the losers shortly disappeared, leaving just Bill and Katherine to clean up the last of the blood on the floor.
"You know," Katherine spoke, putting the mop in the bucket. "I would make a period joke but this is literally what my flow looks like, it's not even funny." Bill stayed silent, continuing to mop, acting as if she wasn't there. "You got nothing, Billy-boy?" Katherine asked. "Not a comment like 'that's gross' or even a question you've been thinking in that beautiful brain of yours." Bill dumped the mop in his own bucket to wring it out, still ignoring her. She sighed. "Okay, Bill. What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Bill responded.
"So he speaks!" Katherine exclaimed, dumping the bloody mop water down the tub's drain. "Come on, Billy. What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Bill responded once more, dumping his own water into the tub. "I j-j-just..."
"What?" Katherine asked, her eyes meeting his.
"I was just s-s-scared for you because I went to your house and y-y-your mom said you w-w-w-weren't home and that your b-bike was broken." Katherine waited for him to continue. "And seeing you with Stan..." he trailed off as if he didn't want to finish that sentence. "I was j-j-just curious why you didn't call me last night. W-Was it Seth again?"
Katherine nodded. "He's a bigger pain in the ass, more than usual. I had to get away."
"B-But you didn't c-c-c-call me," he replied, glumly.
"Wait, that's what this is about?" Katherine asked. "I did call you but no one answered so I called Stan next and he came and got me."
"I'd just r-r-r-r-rather have you stay at my house instead," Bill stated. Katherine tilted her head in question which Bill blushes as he realizes what he said. "B-B-B-Because Stan's dad could've caught you and...that would've been scary."
Katherine smiled at his caring nature. "Aw," she said, gently nudging his shoulder. "You worried about me, Billy?" Bill stayed silent but nodded. "That's sweet of you. I'm fine though. Wanna know why?"
Bill smiled back. "Why?" he asked.
"Because I'm a ninja," she said, sending him a wink that made Bill's cheeks burn. "The sneakiest and the baddest."
Bill hesitantly reached out to hold her hand but only grazed it because he decided against it. "I just don't w-wanna see you get hurt," he stated.
Katherine chuckled. "Bill," she began, being the one to grab and interlock her fingers with his. "You don't need to worry about me. I'm okay."
But it wouldn't be long until she wasn't.

Shortly, as everyone walked their bikes away from the Marsh apartment building, Richie rode his bike in circles around the losers.
"No, I love being your personal doorman. Really," Richie began. "Could you idiots have taken any longer?"
"Shut up, Richie," Eddie and Katherine simultaneously told him.
"Yeah, shut up, Richie," Stan added.
"Oh, okay, trash the trash-mouth, I get it," Richie said, ignoring them. "Hey, I wasn't the one scrubbing the bathroom floor imagining that her sink went all Eddie's mom's vagina on Halloween."
"She didn't imagine," Bill spoke up, slowing down making the losers stop and Richie to brake his bike. "I also s-s-saw something too."
"You saw blood, too?" Stan asked.
"Not blood," Bill stated. "I saw G-G-Georgie. It seemed so real, I mean it seemed like him but there was this..."
"A clown," Eddie finished in a quiet tone. When all eyes including Bill's turned to him, he added, "Yeah, I saw him too."
"He had this white make-up," Katherine said. "Red pom-poms in the middle of his suit and red streaks like blood going down his eyes."
Bill and Eddie looked at her. She just gave the exact description they both saw? Ben nodded slowly as well as Stan looked to Bill and nodded.
"Wait, can only virgins see this stuff?" Richie asked, breaking the silence. "Is that why I'm not seeing this shit?"
They heard some yells past the trees as Eddie pointed out, "Oh shit, that's Belch Huggins car. We, we should probably get outta here."
"I'm not scared of them," Katherine replied. "They're just a great, big bag of dicks."
"Wait," Bill said, seeing a bike near the side of the road. "Isn't that the homeschooled kids bike?"
"Yeah, that's Mike's," Eddie answered.
Katherine listened to the yelling and said, "I think he's in trouble."
"We have to help him," Beverly said.
"We should?" Richie asked.
Katherine looked at her friend. "Yes," she and Beverly answered, being the first to drop her bike. "Come on."
Bill was the next to drop his bike as well as the other losers except for Stan who kicked his bike stand down.
Katherine followed the noise to see Henry holding Mike Hanlon down with a rock held high, ready to most likely smash Mike's head in.
Katherine stomped forward. "That's it. I'm going to fucking kill him," she growled.
Beverly grabbed her own. "No, wait. Hold on," she told her before picking a stone and hurling it towards Henry.
The stone had hit Henry on the side of the head, making the boy fall to the side away from Mike.
"Nice throw," Stan told her, walking towards the girls with the other losers.
Beverly glanced at him. "Thanks."
Katherine jumped in the stream, looking towards Mike. "Come on," she urged him. Mike crawled away from Henry, trying to hurry towards the pretty blond as the losers all picked up rocks. She outstretched her arms towards him and helped him up to where the other losers were, setting him down behind them.
Henry stood up and walked forward. "You losers are trying too hard," he began as he looked towards Beverly. "She'll do you, You just gotta ask nicely like I did," he stated, gripping his groin.
Ben yelled out angrily and tossed The stone toward Henry that grazed his head.
'The fuck?" Belch questioned.
Katherine looked at Mike. "You might wanna back away for this," she told him sweetly before she picked up a stone.
The losers threw their stones causing the Bowers gang to pick up rocks as well.
"ROCK WAR!" Richie bellowed out before he was knocked back by a stone to the head.
The losers all threw their stones, narrowly dodging the rocks the Bowers gang threw.
(A/N: I can't be the only one to fucking love Eddie's shorts, sorry not sorry).
As Katherine had hurled a stone towards Vic, hitting his shoulder, Henry had thrown a rock that had hit Katherine in the stomach making the girl gasp in pain and fall back.
Bill grew enraged, throwing stones at Henry and only Henry as Eddie jumped in the stream, hurling rocks towards the bully too.
Richie had helped Katherine back up who only grabbed more rocks and threw them at Belch who yelled at Beverly, "Fuck you, bitch!"
Her stone had hit Belch's forehead.
Soon enough, Vic and Belch ran off, leaving Henry on the floor by himself. The losers stopped as Henry had covered his face with his hands.
Stan had helped Mike walk away as Bill wrapped an arm around Katherine who began to cradle her stomach, groaning in pain but she tried to be strong.
"GO BLOW YOUR DAD, YOU MULLET-WEARING ASSHOLE!" Richie yelled at Henry, giving him the double bird salute, walking away.
"Thanks, guys, but you shouldn't have done that, he'll be after you guys too now," Mike spoke once they walked away.
"Ah, now Bowers, he's always after us," Katherine answered and grinned at Mike as Bill still had his arm around her middle to help her walk.
"I guess that's one th-th-thing we all have in common," Bill added.
"Yeah, home school," Richie spoke. "Welcome to the loser's club."
