chapter 9
Jenna and the cafe
In better spirits during the second half of his shift, He was getting things done in a better light hearted mood. The afternoon didn't seem to drag on as it had other days. His work day usually ended around five but knowing he had plans at six, he worked right on through until it was nearly time for his coffee meeting with Jenna. He didn't work far from the cafe, so he just worked an extra forty five minutes and then left the building in plenty of time to meet her.
By the time he reached the little cafe he was ready to spend some quality time with her. He peeked in the window and saw she was already there, looking for a place to sit. Good he thought, that meant she had to have been there a short time. He walked in and waited a moment for her to notice him.
A moment later she turned around to see he was there and waved him over to her. He walked over to her and hugged her softly.
"Thank you, I'm glad you agreed to see me." He replied.
"Me too. I've already ordered the coffee. Have a seat I'll see if it's ready." She told him.
"Oh, thank you. I'll be right here." He replied as she went to get the drinks.
When she returned with the mugs, both of them sat down together to get comfortable.
"What's on your mind?" She asked.
"A little bit of everything. Are you sure I'm the right guy for all of this?" I'm not exactly the tough guy type."
"Yes I'm sure it's you. Did you finish the other to books from this week?"
"Yes, I finished the last one this morning." He replied sipping away at the streaming hot liquid.
"Good, perhaps we will go through the book of demons and their attacks this week. Have you felt anything strange since the nightmare?" She inquired.
"No I haven't."
"That's a good sign. It gives us more time to prepare." She replied.
Neil took a drink from his mug. He really didn't like the sound of that one bit.
