Chapter 47
He leaned back on the couch and tried to think, reflecting on what the had told him. Maybe his spirit watcher was right? What if Jenna had been lying to throw him from his path of being the chosen ones? It would make sense, if she worked for the demons, then chances are she would tell him anything to throw him off. To make him give up chasing demons? He sat there for a long time thinking about it as he sipped the coffee.
He got up and poured another one, when suddenly noticing the hangover he'd suffered was all but gone. That was a huge relief, he didn't suffer them often but when he did they would hit him like a hammer to the base of the skull. Most of the time they seemed to linger all day. He wondered if Adriella had a hand in healing him from this ailment. He really didn't care how it happened, just thankful that his head had stopped the god awful pounding. Getting up from the couch, Neil fetched his dream book and a few of the reference books he had purchased this week, before his now ex-girlfriend's deceptions.
He went through them carefully, he wondered if there would be a way to call a demon and trap it? He was sure it were possible. He needed to proceed with caution. He was sure the ex would have reported back to the demons by now. Searching through his books and notes he knew what demons were left to deal with. Gluttony and lust. He needed to think this through. When dealing with demonic forces, there wasn't room for error. He wasn't a big eater, rarely did he over indulge but that would have to change. That is until he cornered that demon. He read through the dark book of magic until he found a way to summon one of them. Then he got up and got ready, he needed a few supplies.
Quickly leaving the apartment Neil headed to the grocery store picking up tons of food he never usually bought. Grabbing anything that looked like an over indulgence, chocolate, whipped cream, ice cream, candy, cookies, over priced meat and cheeses. Then after leaving there, he needed to get a few candles. He headed for a local shop and grabbed red and black ones. After that store he went to the local church and offered a priest a hefty donation for holy water. The priest, Father Patrick was more than happy to help him. Then the demon warrior went back home for the night to get the ball rolling.
It had taken three trips to the car to unload everything. He set all of the food and drinks out on the table and took a deep cleansing breath. He hoped this plan would work without any horrific consequences. He needed to do something. He wanted to make sure these foul wretched beasts knew he wouldn't give up on the mortal world, no matter who they sent to distract him. He needed to take one of them out before he lost his nerve. There was no going back, he lit the candles and began a dark magic chant to get the demon's attention. Then he forced himself to binge on as much food as his stomach could take, while he waited for the demon like a black widow spider just before the kill.
