Neil let out a low grumble as he began getting up, throwing his covers off in a small protest. Crawling out of bed he slowly began his morning routine more groggy than usual. Then as his mind caught up with his stumbling body he remembered it was friday. That meant eight hours at the office and he would have his weekend to enjoy again. He shuffled his feet to the kitchen and started the coffee pot. He went to the cabinet and got out a large mug and set it on the counter.

 Then he walked back into his standard sized bathroom and began running the shower. Once the water was ready he climbed in and let the hot water beat on his back for a few minutes, then he quickly got ready for work early. By the time he made it back to the kitchen the coffee pot had finished it's brewing cycle

He poured a fresh cup and sipped it slowly until it had cooled off enough. He then walked through the small apartment he called home to make sure he had the essentials before work- his phone wallet and keys. He set them on the table and took a large drink of the french roast he had bought this week. It was better than good. He poured another cup of the hot liquid and drank it as he prepared his mind for another mind numbing day at the office. He needed to down the java, on nights he had dreams like those it seemed to make him so tired he didn't function near as well the next day.

 Other days when he had dreamless and well rested sleep he wasn't near this exhausted.  He poured another half a cup and sipped it quickly, hoping it would help. He wasn't looking forward to another day at the office, Neil simply needed to get through it to get to saturday. That however he was looking forward to, more time with Jenna. He loved her down to his very soul. He couldn't imagine his life without her, even though he had really gotten to know her nearly six months ago. He sipped at the drink and checked the time, oops he thought, I better get moving before I'm late! He got up and grabbed his dark green travel mug and poured a full cup to take with him on the short drive, then headed out the door to hop into the civic and get going to his boring job.

As he drove the usually short drive to work traffic had been a nightmare, there had been a slight fender bender on the main road that he always took, there had been bumper to bumper traffic for a good twenty minutes, after having to hit the brakes a few times he spilled hot coffee on his pants. He wasn't angry just a little irritated. By the time he got to work he was late, but fortunately Bill wasn't in the office when he arrived. He slipped in and hurried to his desk without being given the third degree. The day continued on as slow as possible, he was starting to think fridays were lost in a different time zone all together. 

The rest of the day had progressively gotten worse, someone had tried to hack into the system, probably some computer nerd sitting at home with nothing better to do, all the encryption codes were backwards, then once he and Margret had fixed it, there was a virus in the firewall which was said to be impossible but low and behold it wasn't today. After three hours of taking care of that, one of the other guys had found a glitch it seemed to be an all day long task of fixing one software problem after another. The only bright side with the whole ordeal was it had made the day move a lot faster. He barely noticed the time until he got up to stretch and saw he had a half hour to go before the day would be over. Thank goodness, he told himself. Over the next thirty minutes he didn't find anymore computer problems, and got up to grab a snack from the break room. He had gotten so occupied he forgot to go to lunch. He was starving but for now chips and a coke would have to do.

He went to the bathroom, then back to his desk to waste the next four minutes before finally being able to get out of there and go home. He felt like a kid on the last day of school when he left the office.
