chapter 4
morning routine
"So now what do I do?" Neil asked her, confused as to his next move.
"Take me to your bedroom. Your training will start in a few days. I know people."
He said nothing, just followed her orders without question....
The next morning he had the day off. His first course of action was to get out of his apartment. He knew Jenna had left in the night due to her obligations with the book store. He got up and got ready. He grabbed his keys and wallet and headed to the cafe. Once he was done there, he headed straight for Merlin's trunk. He was in a great mood. He whistled as he walked from the coffee shop to the book store. He wanted to see her this morning. Knowing he love of coffee, he decided to bring a cup to her at work. A nice excuse to see her. If it was busy he wouldn't stay long. He reached the store and walked in, scanning for her he noticed that there had been no more than five people shopping. That meant she may have time for a cup of java with him. He enjoyed the talks over a hot cup of coffee. It was never a dull conversation when it came to her. She always made him feel alive. She made him not just look forward to being near her. It was as if she had shown him there was a lot more to life besides the mundane routine of getting up, going to work and going home. There was a whole other world out there and she was going to help him discover it, one book at a time.
"There you are." He greeted her.
"You came to see me." She replied in a surprised tone.
"I brought coffee from our favorite place, I thought you'd like one." He stammered, trying not to sound like a fool.
"Thank you, that's very kind of you. Please sit with me, if you aren't busy." She offered, more than happy to see him again, even at her job.
Sitting down next to her, he took a sip of the dark roast he'd purchased.
"It's my day off and I thought I'd see if you had plans this evening." He hinted to her.
"I don't have to work late, Katie is closing this time. I'll be done here by four, I hope." She answered his hint.
"Really? That's great, I was curious would you care to have dinner with me?" He asked her trying not to sound flustered. He took a large slow sip of the hot liquid as he waited for an answer.
"I'd love to. What do you have in mind?"
That caught him off guard, he didn't have a clue as to where they would go, he didn't care as long as she was with him.
"What do you like?" He asked unsure as to what to suggest.
"I'm not that picky, anywhere is fine with me. There's a bar and grill a few blocks from here." She suggested.
"That sounds okay with me." He replied.
"Why don't you meet me here around four? Then we could walk down for drinks and dinner?" She asked.
"That would be great. You don't mind if we have coffee here together but then i've got to find a book to buy." He commented.
"What book are you looking for?" She asked.
"I don't care, the book is just a reason to see you." He replied.
She blushed, turning to one side to hide that fact and sipping at the coffee.
"I'll probably go through your new age section again. Some of those look very intresting."
"Most of them are, if you want I'll help you find one." She offered drinking down the coffee.
"I'd like that a lot. you seem to know how to pick out a book like no one else." He complimented her.
"It comes with the territory." She joked.
Once the cups were empty, she walked with him to the new age section in the back of the store and helped him look through the rows of books. He picked out another book of dreams and she handed him another one. He looked at it, flipped it over and read the description on the back cover. This one was a how to guide on astral projection. Being the go with the flow kind of guy he was, he was happy to purchase that one as well.
"Thank you." He spoke with feeling.
"You're welcome."
"I'll get going, I'd like to read some of this before I meet you for dinner."
"Sure, I'm glad you came in." She replied.
"So am I." He replied before walking to the cash register to buy both of the books.
