chapter 39
when Neil drifted off into a deep slumber he found himself lost in the land of the dream, standing in the forest surrounded by a light blue-gray fog. It was so thick that he couldn't see more than a few feet in front of him. He stopped and listened for about ten seconds when he heard the familiar sound of hooves trotting closer to him. He waited thirty seconds before calling out to the creature making that very sound.
"Hello, is anyone there, I can't see you, the fog is too thick." He called out, hoping it wasn't an enemy.
"Yes, by now you should know who it is." The woman answered him.
"Why am I dreaming of you again?" He asked.
"I have a warning for you, demon warrior." She replied, getting straight to the point of her lucid visit.
"What is this warning Adriella?"
"Beware of the known. Danger is closing in." She informed him with a dead on glare.
"What danger?" He asked but it was too late she had already dissapeared back into the shadowed mist.
That moment he bolted awake, queasy and covered in a cold sweat. He was shaking as he checked the bedside clock. It was only six minutes past three in the morning. He sat there trying to calm down for a good five minutes before grabbing the dream book and scribbling down what he could remember and then tucked it under his pillow just in case this wasn't the only vivid dream he would encounter before dawn.
He sat up in the bed for a moment debating on getting up for a while but thought better against it. He tried to go back to sleep, at first the demon warrior tossed and turned for the next half an hour before finally sleep took him once more into a restful dreamless slumber. He didn't rise again until the annoyance of the loud obnoxious repetitive beeping of his alarm woke him just before seven that morning.
