chapter 3

Once they were inside she complimented how nice it was. Especially  the breakfast nook. He poured a glass of wine for each of them while  cooking. She thought it was  sweet of him to make dinner. How will he  feel after we have this talk? She sipped her wine slowly as not to lose focus. She hated this. She wished she didn't know what he needed to hear. She would prefer it just like this, but Jenna knew things were never going to be the same again.

The two talked about the weather, gas prices and politics. Then Neil pulled out his dream journal. Jenna did her best to hide the fear in her eyes. He began the conversation about nightmares. How ironic, he starts the conversation that would destroy them both. She took another long sip of wine.

He showed her one entry in the dream book that she nearly dropped the book over because of it. She looked and it read a line of underworld critters whispering of the demon hunter, this poor sap? One said to the other. Jenna couldn't believe what she was reading. If the dark creatures were calling out to him, they did not have much time left. She needed to get this unfortunate conversation rolling. Jenna really did not want to. She would rather fight the demons herself.

"Neil, we need to talk about something."

"Are you leaving me?" He retorted, assuming that was where this conversation was going.

"Of course not, it hasn't anything to do with me."

"Okay, then what the heck is going on here?"

"Do you remember the conversation we had about being a clairvoyant?"

Neil nodded yes to her, with a look of panic on his thin face. Jenna breathed deep and hard before she continued. "I am a dream clairvoyant, I see things in dreams."

His eyes widened, surprised by this, even though he should have figured it out by now.

"Alright, go on . Whatever it is, I'll listen."

"I knew what those nightmares are; I just didn't want to tell you what they mean."

"Why the hell not?" He asked, feeling hurt she wouldn't tell him something like this.

"I am sorry I didn't want to tell you for fear you'd never speak to me again."

"Spit it out woman." He commanded.

"Okay, Neil you have been chosen by the ancient ones to be the next demon warrior." She looked at him to see if he would laugh, faint or throw her out of his life.

He said nothing, he just sat there. She worried that it had given him a psychotic break down. He didn't move from where he stood. He didn't know what to do. He wanted to believe her. He wasn't sure.

"I know it sounds like a ranting of a lunatic, but this is serious. There are demons roaming the earth Neil." She paused to pour herself another drink. She waited for him to say something. She didn't care what, but just to speak to her.

"Why me, Jenna? I am no

I don't even know what a demon really looks like." He was in denial. That was a good sign, he will accept his mission, and eventually she thought.

"I'll do what I can to help you. Those creatures in your dream, those were demon spies. They already are threatened by you." She paused and took another sip, so did Neil.

"How am I to battle demons? I don't think I could throw a decent left hook."

"I will help you. The demons that are running around are the demons that rule the seven deadly sins. They rule a separate sin, and they prey on the weak, the vulnerable humans of this world. The only ones to stop them are the demon hunters."

"Alright, so who is the red head on the unicorns?" He asked seeing if she would tell him.

"The woman is your ancient guide; she is there to guide you during transitional times." Jenna explained to him almost as If she had rehearsed it.

"What of the unicorns? The woman what is her name?" Neil asked fascinated by it. She smiled as her pink cheeks turned a red rose color from the happiness she felt. He isn't going to make me go. He doesn't think I'm full of it or insane. She kissed him. He kissed her back with a forceful need. Then he repeated the question about the unicorns and the woman.

"The unicorns represent innocence, purity and wisdom." She explained.
