chapter 3

The corridor was crowded with demons. Some of them were exceptionally drunk while some were barely sober. Songs were playing and the demons were dancing and being cheerful.

Even though the party was organized for Grey, he strolled in late without a care in the world. He was certainly not the Party type, however, he had to attend because it was kind of necessary to show his face around, especially when the party was organized because of him. He did not want to seem rude to his Uncle and get in trouble with Beelzebub.

He sighed softly as he stood close to the entrance and rested his back on the wall. He watched the demons partying. He collected a drink from one of the demons who was serving and opened his drink. He slowly sipped on it as he endured watching the other demons who were dancing.

“Hey, Grey,” someone said from his side. Grey practically rolled his eyes even before looking. He knew that voice very well.

Erna.

Grey ignored her and continued to sip on his drink. He was not in the mood to speak to her.

“Hey, Grey, I'm talking to you,” Erna said as she moved a bit closer to Grey and ran her fingers down his chest. “Why don't you want to talk to me?” she asked.

“Take those fingers of yours off me before I break each one of them,” Grey snapped, making Erna shiver in fear.

She knew Grey was serious about it, and he would do it if she pushed him further.

Erna moved backwards, leaving some space between them. She simply does not desire to push her luck.

“What is wrong, Grey?” Erna asked, however she was still wary of him. “I just want us to have fun together,” she said, biting her lips and blinking her eyelashes at him.

Grey hissed. ‘Why doesn't this girl just get the hint?’ he muttered angrily to himself. ‘Maybe I will have to teach her a lesson, so she can quit chasing me. Yes, that is what I will do,’ he concluded to himself.

“I don't want to have fun with you,” Grey said bluntly

“But - ”

“Get out of my way!” Grey exclaimed, interrupting her words as he pushed past her. He was very irritated and he did not want to hear some other phrase slip from her mouth.

She's so annoying,’ he said to himself.

He ventured into the crowd of demons. “I would have chosen to stay at home than to be here if I had the choice,” he sighed softly as he sat down on a stool.

Grey noticed his brother kissing a female demon. He shook his head.

“That's all he knows how to do," Grey muttered.

An hour later, Grey was getting bored. He decided he had spent a lot of time at the party and it was time he went home.  He stood up from his seat and made his way to the exit of the door but before he could stroll out of the door, he was blocked by his brother and two different demons who were standing on both sides of his brother.

Grey crossed his arms as he glared at his brother.

“Get out of my way!” Grey shouted.

He was not simply geared up for anything his brother had planned. He just desired to go home and have an appropriate nighttime sleep.

“You think you can just embarrass me in front of all those demons and go free?” Josh asked as he glared back at his brother.

“You asked for it and you deserve it,” Grey muttered angrily. “Now get out of my way!”  Grey repeated as he tried to push past them. but the demons did not move. Grey knew he was slightly inebriated, and he was not in the mood to fight.

Grey was dragged outside by the two demons and his brother also joined them outside. Grey was shoved roughly to the wall. He stumbled a little, however, he did not lose his stability as he stood up and watched the demons.

“BEAT HIM UP!” Josh ordered making the two demons lunge in the direction of Grey without wasting time.

Grey roughly shoved the first demon who was attacking him. The demon fell to the ground. Grey centered his attention on the other demon. He kicked the demon so hard that he fell on the floor. The first demon, who was pushed to the ground, attacked Grey from behind and Josh, who noticed his other demon was down, attacked Grey with a knife.

Grey rapidly protected his belly from the impact which made the knife cut deep into the flesh of his hand. He pushed the other demon from his lower back and attacked his brother. He punched Josh with rage. Josh was so helpless. Grey wanted to punch him one more time but he stopped himself.

He is still my brother,’ Grey reminded himself.

He let go of Josh and shot him one final look. “STAY OUT OF MY WAY!” Grey said sternly to his brother before he headed home with his hand bleeding from the gash caused by the knife.

He managed to get home. He pushed the door open and slammed it shut.

“Grey? Is that you?” Anna's voice rang from her room and he heard her loud footsteps coming downstairs.

He cursed himself softly. He sincerely did not intend to wake his mother up, however, he was very indignant and he did not have the time to think the sound would wake his mother up due to the fact that his mom was a light sleeper.

“Grey?” his mom called again as she made her way downstairs. “What.......”

The phrases died in her mouth when she saw her son bleeding.

“What happened?” she asked.

She did not even wait for her son to explain what happened before she dragged him to the bathroom to treat his wounds.

Grey saw the worried look on her face. “Mom, I'm fine,” he mumbled.

Anna ignored him as she continued to dress her son's wound.

“What happened?” she asked quietly.

“I was attacked by Josh and two other demons," Grey said weakly.

Anna sighed softly as she shook her head. “It's done,” she said, referring to the dressing of the wound. “Get some rest,” she added as she left the bathroom and headed towards her room.

Grey heard her room’s door shut close. He stood up and tried to pull his shirt off. It was so tough, but nevertheless he was able to get it off.

When he removed his clothes, he got on top of the mattress and sighed softly. The pain from his hand was excruciating however he had gotten used to pain. He has been in a worse state of affairs than this.

This will pass,’ he said to himself as he glided off to sleep.

Ariel woke up the subsequent morning, feeling a pain in her hand. She got up with a frown on her face. She checked her hand but she did not find any injury. She sighed softly.

This was not the first time she woke up with pain in one section of her body.

Ariel shook her head as she went to the restroom. She did not know if she needed to tell her parents but as the thought came, she rapidly disregarded it. She did not want to hassle them.

“Maybe nothing is wrong,” she stated out loud, attempting to convince herself that it was potentially nothing. She put on the shower and stepped inside.

A few minutes later, she came out of the bathroom and headed downstairs.

“Hey, honey,” Raguel said to his daughter as she came downstairs.

“Good morning, Dad,” Ariel said as she kissed her Dad's cheek.

“Did you sleep well?” Raguel asked, looking at his daughter with a smile.

“Yes, Dad, I did,” Ariel replied as she smiled back.

Raguel looked at his daughter with a little frown on his face. He watched as she held her hand as if she was in pain.

“Is there anything wrong with your hand?” Raguel asked as he pointed to Ariel's hand which she was supporting with the other one.

Ariel shook her head in response.

Her father gave her a skeptical look, which Ariel noticed.

“I think I slept on it,” she blurted out.

“Okay ,if you say so,” Raguel said, not looking convinced about what his daughter had said. However, he just let it slide.

Ariel left her dad and hurried to the kitchen to meet her mother. She hated lying to her parents but she just had to. She did not understand what was going on.

She sighed softly as she shook her head. Elena looked at her daughter when she heard her sigh.

“What is it, Ariel?” Elena asked with concern in her voice.

Ariel looked at her mother's face and noticed the look of concern on her face. She cursed herself softly.

“Mom, I'm fine,” Ariel said with a smile. “Don't worry about me,” she added as she hugged her mother.

“Okay,” Elena said as they continued with their cooking.

Raguel sat in the living room with his father Raphael.

“I think there is something up with Ariel,” Raguel said looking at his daughter.

“Why do you say so?” Raphael asked.

“She has been acting off lately,” Raguel said.

“Don't worry much about her," Raphael said softly, “She is a grown up now and I think she can handle what she's going through. If she cannot, I'm certain she will let you know what's going on,” Raphael added with a tiny smile on his face.

Raguel nodded his head but that did not make him any less worried. He genuinely desired to find out what was going on with his daughter.

Ariel and her entire family ate their breakfast in silence. She helped her mom with the dishes, and after that she made her way to her Uncle.

“Hey, Uncle Michael,” Ariel said cheerfully.

“Are you prepared to go for your training now, since we did not go yesterday?” Michael asked, making Ariel nod with a smile. Her Uncle constantly knew what she was usually up to.

“Okay,” Michael said. “Have you told your parents?” Michael asked.

Ariel shortly ran to meet her parents, quickly telling them about the place she was going to and hoping to race against her Uncle.

“I'm ready," she stated with a smile, making Michael chuckle and flashed his wings.

“Let's go then,” he said and Ariel flashed her wings as they both left.

A few hours later, Ariel landed back home with her Uncle. She was looking very tired.

“Honey, you look exhausted,” Maria, her grandmother, said as she looked at her granddaughter.

“She did splendid today,” Michael commended.

Michael was not looking as tired as Ariel due to the fact that he was a pure Angel and his body refreshed itself, however, Ariel was only a half Angel because her mother was half-human and also a half Angel but her father Raguel was a pure Angel.

Ariel hurried upstairs as she went straight to the bathroom and took a rapid shower before she laid on her bed and in no time she drifted off to sleep.
