chapter 21
When Ariel got to her room she saw her phone lying on the bed. She was about to pick it up when she sensed something.
"Demons," she muttered.
She quickly turned and saw demons standing in front of her. She hurriedly took a step back, creating a lot of distance between herself and them.
"The little Angel is scared," one of the demons said.
"I'm not little and I'm not scared of you," Ariel muttered angrily.
She was so inclined to show the demons that she was not scared of them that she took her stance to fight.
"Look at her," one of the demons said, pointing at her as he laughed darkly.
"She thinks she can fight us. How pathetic!" the demon spat.
Ariel wasted no time as she lunged for the demon. The demon was surprised at her agility. He was not even expecting the Angel to attack him.
Ariel knocked the demon out, causing the other demons in the room to watch Ariel cautiously.
The rest of the demons in the room knew they had underestimated the Angel. They did not leave any room for mistake as they all attacked at once.
Ariel felt very overwhelmed with the demons coming straight at her. Amidst her confusion, she stood her ground and continued to fight. However, one demon attacked her from behind and pulled her hair.
She screamed as she was shoved to the ground. But before she got up, she noticed Grey and her entire family surrounding her.
Grey quickly rushed to her side.
"Are you all alright?" he asked, quickly checking her body for bruises.
"I'm fine," Ariel convinced him rapidly.
Grey sighed in relief and stood up with Ariel by his side.
His eyes quickly met a familiar person's.
"Josh," he whispered.
"Hi, brother," Josh greeted with a smirk.
"What do you want?" Grey asked in fury.
"Her," he stated, pointing at Ariel.
Grey tightened his grip on Ariel as his eyes flashed red.
That was the end of their discussion as the demons proceeded to attack. The Angels in the room were doing very well while fighting off the demons but Grey had his eyes on Josh who was standing at a corner, observing the entire fight.
Ariel looked at Grey, and she could feel his anger building up.
"Go get him," she said.
"No. I cannot leave you," Grey said, still keeping his eyes on Josh.
"I will be fine," Ariel said, squeezing his hand a little.
Grey averted his eyes from Josh and met Ariel's.
Ariel nodded her head at him in reassurance. Grey immediately let go of Ariel's hand as he lunged for Josh.
Josh stumbled back and hit the wall roughly when Grey punched him.
Grey wasted no time in punching Josh and they both started throwing punches at each other.
Grey soon knocked Josh to the ground and maintained his hold on Josh as he punched his face, but Josh unexpectedly laughed.
He gave him a burdened frown.
"Why are you laughing? What's so funny?" Grey asked.
"You make me laugh," Josh replied. "I never knew you are so stupid to leave that Angel alone"
"What are you talking about?" Grey asked.
Josh laughed again as he looked behind Grey.
It happened so fast that Grey did not even have time to react, neither did the Angels. One moment Ariel was struggling with demons and the next moment, she was gone.
"No!" Grey screamed as he turned back to Josh, but he was not quick enough to maintain his hold on Josh before he disappeared, leaving no room for Grey to follow.
Grey stumbled again and fell to the ground. "No, no, no, this can not happen,'' he shouted. "Ariel!" he screamed out. "No, please..."
Anna was in the living room when the fight was going on because she did not have the strength to fight off the demons.
She was being protected by Samael alongside his wife Maria in the living room, however when Anna heard her son's screams, she quickly pushed past Samael and ran upstairs.
Getting to the room, she noticed her son sitting on the floor, whispering Ariel's name continuously, while the Angels in the room were standing, shocked.
Anna rushed to her son's side. "What happened?" she asked worriedly.
"She's gone," Grey whispered.
Anna looked around. That was when she noticed that Ariel was no longer in the room.
She pulled her son close as she comforted him. Anna looked at Elena and noticed that she was sobbing quietly while hugging her husband.
She felt sorry for her. She glanced at her son who was not faring well too.
Anna saw something she never thought she would see in her son's eyes. Tears
Grey's eyes were crammed with tears as he continued to whisper Ariel's name.
Anna's heart broke into a million pieces. She could only imagine what her son was going through. She had never seen her son shed tears before. Even when he came home every so often with blood dripping from his lower back due to his Uncle's whip, he never cried.
But today, the demons had taken something so dear to her son that it made her furious.
She continued to hold her son tightly as he cried for his soulmate.

Ariel and the demons arrived at the demon's zone. She was shoved harshly against the wall, causing her head to hit the wall hard. She screamed in pain.
The demons laughed as they took pleasure in the pain the Angel was feeling.
"Look at her," one of the demons said. "You were acting strong before. Now look at where you are," he added, laughing as he moved forward and kicked her tough, making Ariel scream all the more while the other demons just watched with a grin on their faces.
Ariel was not in a position to form a word from her mouth as she was in a lot of pain.
A few minutes later, a female demon walked up to her and gave her a hard slap on her face. Ariel shut her eyes tight as she took in the pain.
"I can not believe he chose you over me," she muttered.
Ariel looked at the demon who was talking with a frown on her face.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"Oh, so Grey did not tell you about me? Well, I'm his girlfriend, Erna," she said, smiling.
Ariel's frown deepened. She was not indignant that Grey had a girlfriend before her. However, she was angry that the demon in front of her had touched her soulmate.
"It's apparent you were not good for him," Ariel shot back.
Erna's expressions changed at Ariel's statement. "You don't know anything about me and Grey," she muttered angrily.
"Oh really? Because all I see in front of me is a stupid demon who could not take the hint that my Grey does not want you. Because he is MINE," Ariel shouted
"You stupid Angel," Erna muttered as another slap landed on Ariel's cheek.
"Did I hit a nerve?" Ariel asked, regardless of the pain she was in. She will not let a stupid demon get to her.
Erna was going to lunge for Ariel before a voice stopped her.
"It's okay, ladies," Josh said, pulling Erna backwards.
"Don't worry, Erna. You will get Grey because she is not leaving this place alive," he said with a smile.
Ariel swallowed a lump down her throat at Josh's statement.
She looked at him in the eyes and she could tell he was telling the truth. She was feeling scared already, but she strived to remain calm.
Ariel just couldn't imagine that it had been the final time she would ever see her family, her soulmate. "They will be so heartbroken," she whispered.
"Don't fear, little Angel. I'm not going to kill you now, I'm going to make it painful," Josh said. "Grey is known as the best when it comes to capturing Angels. However, I'm the best when it comes to inflicting pain," he added as his eyes flashed red.
Ariel moved backwards, creating distance between herself and Josh.
"The little Angel is feeling scared now," Josh said with a smirk. "Tie her up," he ordered one of the demons.
The demon, without any delay, walked up to Ariel but he wasn't expecting what came next. Ariel pushed him to the floor and punched the demon's face incessantly until it started bleeding.
The other demons quickly rushed to her side and restrained her from attacking the demon on the ground.
"You coward," Ariel spat at Josh. "If you think you have strength, why don't you face me?" Ariel challenged. "Just you and I," she added.
Josh looked at her with fury as his eyes flashed red for a second before it returned to their original color
"No, I will not fight with you," Josh said. "Tie her up," he ordered once more, and this time they were able to restrain her. "You will suffer," he sneered. "So much."
He moved close to her and raised her face with his hand. He stared straight into her eyes as he laughed and kicked her hard.
"This is only the beginning of your suffering," he laughed. "No one will come to your aid. There is no way Grey can ever discover this place," he added. "Let's go," Josh said to the other demons in the room who shortly followed him out of the room.
However, Erna turned again and looked at Ariel one last time. "Grey is mine," she announced before she went away and joined the other demons who were filing out of the room.
Ariel heard the door shut and without any delay she let the tears fall freely from her eyes that she had been holding back all this time.
"Grey," she whispered as he was the only one she could think of right now. "I hope you are okay," she murmured as more tears fell down her eyes.
