chapter 12
The following day, Grey was seated on his bed, wide awake. He was thinking of a way to sneak out with his mother.
He already had a graph on how they would sneak out. He just hoped it would be successful.
He stood up from his bed and left the room. It was early in the morning, so his mother was still napping in her bedroom. He opened the door and exited the house, shutting the door behind him without creating much ruckus in order not to wake his mother up.
Grey walked down the corridor of the demon zone. It was very quiet. He looked around as he wrapped his arms around himself and continued walking.
“I don't even know if I will miss this place when I'm gone,” Grey said to himself.
After an hour of strolling, he decided to go home. When making his way back, he saw something or rather someone which made him stop and double back to recheck what he saw.
He saw his brother, Josh, cuddling and kissing Erna.
Grey shook his head at them. “Both deserve each other,” he said to himself as he continued his journey home.
When he got home, he noticed his mother was up and she was seated in the living room.
“Where did you go?” Anna questioned her son.
“I just went for a walk,” Grey answered. “I will take a bath now. We should get ready to leave,” he said.
Anna nodded her head. “I will make us breakfast,” she said as she left for the kitchen.
Grey walked to his room and went straight for the bathroom. He stripped off his clothes and stared at his reflection in the mirror. He looked at the fresh scar on his body. He sighed as he shook his head before he averted his eyes from the mirror.
He turned on the shower and stepped inside. He instantly felt calm as the water touched his skin.
A few minutes later, he came out of his room, looking fresh. He went straight to join his Mom at the dining table as both ate in silence.
“Are you ready to go now?” Grey asked his Mom after they had finished eating.
Anna nodded her head. “Let's go,” she replied.
Both of them exited the house and walked down a route demons frequently ignored. It was still early, so they did not see any demon around but unexpectedly, Erna appeared out of nowhere.
“Hey, Grey,” she said with a smile.
Grey stopped as he rolled his eyes. ‘Of course, she has to be here at this time after she has finished snogging my brother,’ he said to himself.
Erna looked at Grey and his mother
“Where are you two going?” Erna asked.
“It's none of your business,” Grey spat
“Whatever,” Erna muttered as she rolled her eyes “Don't you see how much I want you?” she asked, pouting.
Grey looked at her from once over. “I can see how much you want me as you were snogging my brother,” Grey snapped at Erna, causing her to flinch.
“W- what?” Erna stuttered.
“Don't attempt to deny it, I saw the two of you.”
“But it is you I want, I do not want your brother,” Erna whined.
“I do not care,” Grey muttered. “You two deserve each other,” he added as he pushed past her and pulled his Mom alongside him, leaving Erna standing there with her mouth hung open.
After a few minutes of walking, Grey stopped and loosened his grip on his mother. He glanced around to make sure no demon was around. He took a step ahead to take a look at every corner and make sure no demon was in sight.
Anna was looking very nervous. She was hoping they would not get caught.
Her son, all of a sudden stood by her side, and put his hands on her shoulders, noticing how anxious his mother was.
Anna looked at her son and Grey nodded, encouraging her.
“It's clear, Mom,” he stated calmly. “There is no demon in sight,” he announced as he wasted no time in pulling his Mom close.
Anna, being stripped of her power, it was difficult for her to leave the demon zone without the help of someone.
Grey wrapped his arms around her and vanished.

Ariel was sitting on her bed. She was so exhausted because of everything that had happened. She simply did not feel like getting up but she had to. She slowly lifted the covers off her body, and dragged her tired body out of the bed.
She went straight to her bathroom and turned on the shower immediately. When the water touched her body, she sighed in contentment.
A few minutes later, she left the bathroom and headed downstairs to the living room. Her family was seated in the living room and were chatting.
“Hey, honey,” Elena greeted her daughter.
“Good morning, Mom,” Ariel said as her gaze shifted to her father. Raguel smiled at her which made her smile too.
‘By the look of things, it seems like Dad did not tell them anything,’ she thought to herself and she was grateful about that.
They all headed to the dining table to eat their breakfast. The entire family ate in silence. When they were done, Ariel washed the dishes and sat down in the living room.
Raguel, on the other hand, was watching his daughter from where he was seated with his wife. He looked over at Michael and when their gazes met, he motioned to him to go outside.
Michael nodded his head and went outside. Raguel wasted no time and joined Michael too.
“How is Ariel holding up?” Michael asked without any delay.
“Not good at all,” Raguel replied as he shook his head. “You should have seen her yesterday. She was looking so hurt. I felt the pain she was in. It was so heartbreaking to see my daughter in that condition,” he added as he remembered the way his daughter had clung onto him and cried.
“What do you have in mind?” Michael asked.
“I do not know. Ariel is not accepting this bond and I'm positive the demon is not accepting too. I think they should be brought together so that they can accept their bond,” Raguel said
“That will not be easy,” Michael said. “However, I agree with you in bringing them together.”
Raguel nodded his head, “I will just find a way to see this demon,” he said, looking at Michael.
“Okay,” Michael said. “Do you want me to come with you?” he asked
“No,” Raguel replied quickly. “I don't think Ariel wishes for everybody to know yet, however, I will find a way to ask her about the demon's whereabouts.”
Michael nodded his head as he placed a hand over his friend's shoulder, giving it a little squeeze.
They went back inside. Though, Raguel went straight to where his daughter was seated.
Ariel glanced at her father when he sat down. She smiled at him before she averted her gaze.
“How are you doing?” Raguel asked in a low tone as he tried not to draw attention to them.
“I'm feeling a lot better,” Ariel replied. She understood her father was asking about the debacle that took place in her room.
Raguel nodded his head as he remained quiet for a minute before he spoke. “You haven't connected your bond?” he asked.
“No,” Ariel whispered.
Ariel instantly felt something, causing her father to look at her. He simply prayed it was not what was happening to her yesterday.
“Are you okay?” Raguel quickly asked.
“He is at the field,” Ariel replied, looking at her father.
Raguel wasted no time as he stood up, pulling his daughter along with him, and went to meet his wife.
“Hey, babe. Me and Ariel will be back soon. We want to stretch our wings,” Raguel said, pecking Elena’s lips.
“Do you want me to come with you?” Elena asked.
“No,” Raguel replied quickly. “As I said, we will be back soon. Just relax at home,” he added.
“Okay, babe. See you soon,” Elena said as she kissed her daughter's cheeks.
Both Ariel and her father exited the door and stood outside for a while.
Ariel glanced at her father. “What are you doing?” Ariel asked.
“I have to meet the demon,” Raguel replied. He was really glad this opportunity presented itself. He was anyway wondering how he was going to ask his daughter about the demon's whereabouts.
Raguel flashed his wings and so did Ariel as they vanished.

Grey landed on the field and kept his mom secure around himself. He looked everywhere first before he unwrapped his arms from around his mother. He took a step backward, creating a little distance between himself and Anna.
“Where is this place?” Anna asked her son.
Anna had not been outside the demon zone in a really long time, so all of it appeared different to her.
“This is where I met the Angel for the first time,” Grey replied
“Oh, so this is like your special spot?” Anna teased her son.
Grey looked at his mother with a little frown on his face.
“What?” Anna said. “I was simply asking,” she added innocently.
Grey shook his head and averted his eyes from his mother. He heard his mother laugh which made him smile a bit too.
Grey sensed the Angel’s presence within no time.
“She is coming,” Grey informed his mother. “But she is with another Angel,” he added worriedly. He wasted no time in pulling his mother behind him as he waited for them to land.
He did not trust Angels. ‘What if the Angel she is with is coming here to kill us?' Grey thought, ‘If that’s the case, I will have to protect my mother.’
He maintained his hold on his mother tightly as he waited for them and also took a stance to battle in case the need arose.
