A long time ago, there was darkness. He was not able to extinguish the darkness, and so He personified it and fought it, fracturing it into The Unholy Four, and trapping them seperately for all of eternity.

Eons later, humanity communicated with The Shining Demon, the First of The Unholy Four, and in exchange for freeing The Shining Demon, a select few gained his powers and became the strongest humans to ever live.

One man by the name of Astaroth, however, wanted more power than the rest, and in exchange for his freedom, he became The Shining Demons representative, and after eating of his flesh and drinking of his blood, Astaroth became the most powerful demon shifter to ever walk on his plane. Exchanging his freedom meant he had given in to The Shining Demon and had to do whatever asked of him by the Shining Demon, but in honour of the first demon representative, The Shining Demon took on another name: Astaroth.

Other humans envied the power of the demon shifters, but did not know how to summon The Shining Demon. One man, however, was able to summon the Third of The Unholy Four, The Whispering Demon, and freed him from his holy chains. The Whispering Demon blessed him with an ability where both him and his horse were granted powers. This mans name was Demoriel, and he became The Whispering Demon's representative. The Whispering Demon took up the name of Demoriel, and was on par with the other representative.

Soon, others followed and summoned the Second and Fourth of The unholy Four, and gained their powers too.

The offspring of these demon shifters also had the powers of their parent demon shifter, and the title and power of representative was passed down the generations to four random people in the present world, even though there are still many normal demon shifters.
