Chapter 3.2

This time Evabelle opened her eyes to find herself surrounded by many winged men and women. She was looking out through the eyes of a child, and found that most of the Anahalians around her were adults, leaving her pushing through a sea of legs.

It was another memory. Distantly, this registered in Evabelle's mind, but Evabelle, the child, was in control. Doing her best to not disturb the people gathered that sounded like they were arguing in the great hall of her father's cabinet, Evabelle ducked and squeezed between them until she saw him. She ran the rest of the way to her father. "Daddy!" She squealed and jumped into his arms.

Zion chuckled. "Well, what are you doing here, Eva? This is one of Daddy's personal meetings."

Evabelle shook her head and pulled a face. "There's too many people. I can barely breathe, and my wings are pressed so hard into my back I don't know if I'll ever be able to fly again."

Zion laughed again and dabbed at her nose. "There's a reason these meetings are for Daddy's and not their little five-year-old daughters."

"But I want to play." Evabelle whined.

Zion gave her a patient look, then turned his attention to the crowd. "If you will excuse me ladies and gentlemen, I will be right back." Then he went to the huge doors and got one of the guards over to take Evabelle, but Evabelle refused. She clung to her father's neck and shook her head.

"I won't let go!" She yelled, rebelliously.

Zion eased her grip from around him. "Where's your mother, Eva? I'm sure she'd love to play with you."

"No, she wouldn't." Evabelle pouted. "She wants to teach me more lessons."

Zion sighed. "Your mother is just trying to prepare you for the throne. She's a good, loving woman, who you'll thank later."

"But Daddy, you're more fun!" Evabelle protested.

"Fun can only take you so far, Eva." Zion crouched down to his daughter's level. "Your mother sees you for what you will become, and she wants to make sure that that is great and that it is ready to take on the world. It's not easy, but you have to trust me, sweetheart." He gave a quick peck on the forehead, and ducked back into the meeting.

"Evabelle!" Called a voice that the little girl instantly recognized as her mother.

Evabelle sighed and turned, but before she could see her, sixteen-year-old Evabelle's eyes opened to find herself in the empty room that she always started in before going up to talk to Zion.

Frustration burned in Evabelle. That was one memory that always alluded her, one that always seemed close, but just out of reach. Her mother. She had yet to see the woman. The memory of her was there, but at the same time, it wasn't.

Slowly, she sat up from the stone floor and stared at the window across from her. Evabelle blinked a few times, trying to register what was different. There was a small table just under the window. Had that been there before? She thought about it for a second, but quickly pushed it aside and started her way to the stairs.

Zion greeted her when she reached the top. "Evabelle, did any more memories come to you tonight?"

She gave a small nod. "Yeah. It was just another simple one." She briefly explained what happened and then at the very end she said softly. "You called me Eva."

Zion nodded. "Yes, your mother and I each had our own nickname for you."

Evabelle nodded. "I'm just curious, why don't you still call me Eva?"

Zion tilted his head to the side. "You were little then. I guess seeing you all grown up made me think you'd really grown into your name."

Evabelle shuffled her feet. "Well, I don't mind being called Eva."

Zion smiled. "Well, then come here Eva." He opened his arms.

Evabelle ran to them and hugged him again. It felt like more like warm solid air instead of flesh and bone. She realized that the memory of her when she was younger had felt more real, but perhaps it was because it had been when he was actually alive. However even in this moment where the physicality of it denied that he was there, Evabelle knew otherwise.

It was Zion who drew away from Evabelle first. He looked down at her, a thoughtful look in his eyes.

"What?" Evabelle asked.

"You remember how I told you I was going to show you memories that will hopefully help you and give you more insight." Zion said slowly. "Well, I've been trying to decide what to show you first."

Evabelle thought for a moment. "You also mentioned showing me around Jovis. We could start there." She suggested. A part of her wanted to ask if he would show her her mother, but in the end decided against it. She was going to have to remember her mother all on her own.

"Hmm," Zion stroked his short, scruffy beard. "There is that, but perhaps with some of these memories, your recollection of Jovis will return. I will of course show you more of Jovis beyond what your young mind remembers, but there is something I think you should know." Zion lowered his hands to his sides and took a deep breath. "I think that I should show you the history of Averno."

Evabelle blinked several times. "Averno?"

"I think you should know..." Zion paused for a moment. "I think you should know how he managed to kill your mother and I, and how he managed to get away with so much."

A bit of perspiration made Evabelle's palms slippery. She rubbed them, anxiously on her pants. "You're going to show me y-your d-death?" She stammered.

Fortunately, Zion shook his head. "I'm going to show you how I met Averno. It actually may jog some more memories, because you were there as well."

Evabelle stared.

Zion gestured for Evabelle to follow, then he turned and began walking across the wall towards an adjoining tower.

Evabelle dashed after him.

Zion lead her through a door and down another staircase to another room, but this one was filled with furniture. It had a large bed with ornately carved bed posts. The furniture was exquisite, made from a dark red wood with carvings that matched the bed. There were yellow and white flowers in a vase by a window like the empty room Evabelle always found herself when she came here. "Daisies." Evabelle smiled. They were her favorite.

Zion nodded. "Yes, those were your mother's favorite." He strode over to a wooden box on top of the mahogany table beside the lovely flowers. The box, unlike the rest of the wooden decor, was quite plain. It was pale and had no intricacies. There was only a small copper latch, holding it closed. "Most people's eyes travel over this, seeing it as a worthless ornament, but it is probably one of the most invaluable things that I possessed." He held it up to Evabelle. "This is the box that holds memories of all the past rulers of the Anahalians and many others that were important witnesses to significant events, documenting history. As king I was the only one who could open this and find the memories in which I seek. By doing so, I find myself there at the proceedings and can witness and learn from the mistakes or genius of others."

Evabelle blinked several times, trying to process it all. "So we'll be seeing all through your eyes?" She asked, thinking of the few small memories and how she saw them through her own eyes, as a memory should be. "Or, will I see it through my eyes?" She rethought, considering Zion had mentioned she had been there.

The Anahalian king shook his head. "That's what's great about this. You can see it outside of it all, observe it from an external perspective. Sometimes the purpose is to see something you did not before. Also it gives you the chance to be more objective, when you aren't experiencing it again."

Evabelle nodded, staring at the box, a strange excitement beginning to form in her stomach. Suddenly, a thought occurred to her. "Wait, we're not really here. This is all in my head. How are you able to hold that box. Will it really show us the memories if it's just in my head?"

Zion contemplated for a moment. "Dreams are more powerful than most believe. Do you believe that I am talking to you or that I'm just someone you made up?"

"I know it's you," Evabelle answered immediately. "But I believe it's your soul not your physical body. This box is tangible back in Jovis. I don't know, but I just think it's odd."

Zion nodded. "Yes, that makes sense." He set down the box and went to pick up the vase, holding the daisies. His hands didn't go through the container, but they couldn't seem to get a grip on the pot. "These are untouched by magic." Zion explained. Then he picked up the box again. "This isn't an ordinary box."

Evabelle finally accepted it. She smiled. "Did you know that you would be able to touch the box when you made all your plans?"

Zion shrugged and undid the latch. "I hoped."

Evabelle stared at him and then laughed.

Zion grinned and held out a hand. Evabelle took it, feeling warmth, then her father opened the box and a blue glow emanated from it. Evabelle got a brief glimpse of what looked like small, ethereal, creatures that moved with the grace of a delicate swimmer, before Zion reached into the box, wrapped his hand around one of the beings, and all of Evabelle's surroundings vanished.

When her eyes opened, she found herself in a huge open room. Daylight shone in from nearly every direction. The floor was made of pearlescent material, that shimmered from the exterior light. Thrones sat on a platform on the far side of the room. Zion stood in front of the largest ornate chairs, his hands clasped behind his back, staring at the door straight across from him. He wore similar attire to what he'd been wearing in the memory Evabelle had just had. It was much more along the lines of what one would expect a royal king to wear. A long flowy, golden robe, with small jewels studded around the belt. He also wore a golden crown with an adornment of rubies, sapphires, and diamonds alike. When Evabelle came to Zion in her dreams, he was always wearing casual, modern clothing, and his hair was free from any such ornamentation.

Evabelle took a few steps toward her father and opened her mouth to ask what was going on, when she felt something brush her shoulder. She spun and gasped as she saw Zion appearing as he had before, standing beside her.

The Angel man smiled. "This is the memory," he explained. "That is me from when I was alive."

Evabelle glanced back and let out a breath. That made a whole lot more sense. "So they can't hear us or anything?" She clarified, watching the man on the dais.

The Zion that stood beside her, shook his head. "No, we are just observers. We can't change any of this. It's not time travel you know."

Something beside the waiting king, caught Evabelle's eye. It was a flicker of movement, a swish of a blue dress. Evabelle walked forward right to where the past Zion was staring. He didn't acknowledge her as she continued on to see a small child, standing beside him.

The little girl wore a simple, pretty gown. It was shimmery blue with a white, glittery ribbon stitched in a lovely design across her front. Her long brown hair was curled softly around her freckled face. A tiny tiara glittered on her head. On the girl's back, two small golden wings stretch out. They were just paler than her father's beside her.

"This is me." Evabelle breathed. In the memories she saw it all through her own eyes, the eyes of this child. Now she stood looking at herself as a girl, who couldn't be more than five years old.

The casual Zion followed Evabelle. "Yes, I told you, you were here."

The mini Evabelle shuffled uncomfortably, obviously having trouble standing still. She also kept glancing up at her father beside her. Her eyes spoke of nervousness that sixteen-year-old Evabelle instantly recognized as that of social anxiety. They were waiting for someone, and obviously the small Evabelle was as nervous about meeting new people as modern day Evabelle.

The child bit her lip and then opened her mouth to say something to her father when the majestic king spoke first. "Don't worry Eva. I'm sure he will be very nice."

"But Daddy, I don't understand why I have to be here still. Why do I have to meet him? Mommy probably need me." The little girl picked at her dress.

The king sighed and looked down at his daughter. "You're mother is taking care of business while I take care of this, and I wanted you here for a very important reason." Zion turned and crouched down beside Evabelle. "The Oracle is a great blessing bestowed upon us. He was born into the Anahalians for a purpose. The Oracle always serves beside the rulers of the kingdom, for he could save us from many a catastrophe. He will of course be helping me in times to come, but the boy is just a little older than you, Eva. He will probably be serving more when you take the throne, so you should get to know him." Zion straightened again, a smile twitching on his lips. "I'm sure you two will become very good friends, and who knows, possibly something more."

The small Evabelle blinked. "What do you mean?"

Before Zion could answer, the two large dark wood doors swung open, making teenage Evabelle jump.

A man with soft orange wings, the tips getting darker as they went down, a square head and a modern suit stepped into the room. "King Zion, Princess Evabelle, I now present to you the Oracle, Delaney Mendax, accompanied by his father, Averno Mendax, as well as his mother and brother, Hala and Lucis Mendax." He gave a quick bow and stepped aside.

Evabelle's heart skipped a beat. She had known that she must have met the brothers before, and suddenly she was witnessing it. It quite different than remembering it. For one thing she knew Del and Lucis already from a different point. And when she was remembering it, it was like experiencing it as she had when she was younger. It was only when she left the memory that she realized what it was.

Del stepped into the room first. He was so young and innocent, and Evabelle had to resist the temptation to give him a hug even though he wouldn't feel it. He was small and thin, wearing a white button down shirt. A black tie hung around his neck, and Evabelle could just picture his mother tying it around him, while he whined and complained about it strangling him. The thought made her grin. Del's hands stood straight at his sides. His raven hair was combed and parted to the side, obviously not done by him. The boy's beautiful purple eyes stared determinedly at the King's feet, not daring to make eye contact.

Evabelle squirmed a little, losing her composure. He was the cutest thing!

After Del, stepped the monster that killed Zion and Levana Angel. He looked different than when Evabelle had met him at Etheldreda's castle. For one, Averno was wearing a very nice suit, and another was that his skin was clear of demonic tattoos. He was clean shaven and his hair was dramatically shorter. Besides the shorter hair, at this age he looked even more like Del did back in Evabelle's waking world. His blue eyes looked more like Lucis's eyes than they had as well. They were more closed off. This made Evabelle uncomfortable. She knew what this man was hiding, but that made her wonder about Lucis. Averno also had a wide, kind grin which offset Evabelle even more. The key word being kind.

One other thing that caught Evabelle's eye were his wings. They had been black batwings when Evabelle saw him three weeks ago. For some reason, Evabelle had figured that when he had had feathers that they would be black as well, but they weren't. They were white like Lucis's at the top, but as Evabelle's gaze went down, she saw the feathers turn a faint shade of gray that progressively got darker until the bottom where they were black.

Behind him stepped a woman with pale blonde hair pulled back in a bun, with a few strands that were loosely curled around her small delicate face, wearing a small respectful smile. Her wings were a soft cream color with a faint dapple of gray spots.

Another young boy walked beside the woman. Lucis was just as adorable as Del. The blonde boy was taller than his brother. He'd always had been, but as children, the height difference was more prominent. His blonde wavy hair was gelled and combed to the side in a similar fashion as Del's. However, unlike his brother he didn't look particularly uncomfortable. In fact those, sky blue eyes wondered around the room curiously, taking in it all. He looked excited, and Evabelle was shocked to see that those closed off eyes weren't closed off at all. They were wide open. He looked happy.

"It is an honor to meet the Mendax family." Zion said from the platform, giving a slight incline of his head.

Young Evabelle did a small awkward curtsy.

"Please, your Majesties," Averno spoke, his voice, rich and filled with respect. "The pleasure is all ours." Gently he slid up next to Del and guided his stiff son into a kneeling position in front of the two royals. Behind him, the boy's mother, Hala, and Lucis followed suit.

Zion gestured for them to rise. He gave Del a smile and gestured him closer.

Del swallowed hard and stepped away from his father's side.

"Delaney, please relax. I promise I won't hurt you." Zion said softly, stepping down from the raised ground to the boy, who still wouldn't look him in the face. "I want you to feel welcome here."

"Are you going to take me away from my family?" Del suddenly shouted, still staring at the ground. He began to shake, obviously regretting his outburst.

Zion glanced up at Averno. "No of course not. You are far too young to be away from your parents. I would never do such a thing." Zion crouched down. "Tell me, Delaney, what are you thinking right now? What do you know about your gift?"

Del swallowed and finally looked into Zion's eyes. "I...I don't want to be the Oracle."

Evabelle noted a slight shuffle of movement from Averno. She watched him for a moment. He didn't look angry, just contemplatively watched his son talking to the king.

"The--The visions hurt." Del whispered. "A-and I can't control when or where. I have nightmares sometimes and they don't make any s-sense." He tried taking a few deep breaths to calm his stutter. "My dad said that I was going to work with you, and I thought that meant I would have to leave them."

Zion gave Del a warm smile. "Your father and I will be figuring out the arrangements, but I promise you won't be leaving them any time soon." He put a hand on the small boy's thin shoulder. "As King I know what Specula's gifts are like. They can be very unclear and distorted. Nightmares definitely are common with her touch. But Delaney, I will be helping you to understand and to work through it. I will do whatever I can to help you control it as well. We will be working together, but I promise I'm a good guy. You don't have to worry." He gave the boy a wink.

Del blinked and his mouth twitched into something that nearly resembled a smile.

Zion straightened up and held out an arm to Averno, who took a step forward and grasped it.

Evabelle tensed at their touch, feeling sick. Averno was the man who killed Zion. Watching them here and knowing what was going to happen, knowing that she could do nothing made her insides writhe.

"Don't think about it." Said the Zion that stood beside her. "I try not to."

Evabelle glanced at her father as he stepped toward himself and Averno. Zion's eyes watched Averno talking to his past self with a strange expression. It wasn't anger, but something closer to fascination that this seemingly good man could become something so vile. "Back at this time," Zion said softly. "I couldn't see it."

Averno gave the fancily dressed, Zion's hand a good shake. "Your Majesty, it truly is an honor." The future demon said humbly.

The older Zion's interested expression changed to that of pity. "But now I do."

Evabelle opened her mouth to ask what exactly he meant, but was cut off by the memory Zion.

The good king shook his head, smiling. "You will a call me Zion. I figure we will be working amongst each other quite a bit, and formality has never been a thing I've found as agreeable."

Averno smiled, not a cold 'I'm going to kill you' smile, but a thankful one. "You truly are kind, Zion."

Zion nodded and released Averno's hand and gestured toward Hala and Lucis. "And I'm pleased all your family could come. Your wife is quite lovely and your other son, Lucis seems quite bright."

At being mentioned by the King, Lucis straightened and ran forward to shake Zion's hand. "Your castle is sooo amazing!" He exclaimed, excitedly, almost jumping up and down with enthusiasm as he shook the King's hand.

Evabelle giggled. These boys were just too adorable.

Hala's eyes widened at her son's suddenness, but Zion just chuckled. "Thank you, Lucis. I'm very glad you like it." He looked back at the boy's mother, and held out a hand to her as well. She took it a little timidly, but she did return his kind smile. "I would love for you to meet my dear wife, Levana. I think you two will get along quite nicely." Zion stepped away and began his way toward the front again. "My queen is being the responsible one as always. She's taken my place at a very dull meeting, so I will apologize for not being able to introduce her today, but I do have my little princess." Zion stopped beside the young Evabelle, who had jumped down from the dais as well, but who stood a little to the side away from attention. "This is Princess Evabelle, and though she may not say it, she is very pleased to meet you all as well."

Mini Evabelle gave another little curtsy.

Suddenly the scene began to fade, and soon the older Evabelle found herself back in the bedroom with the open box on the table.

"That's it?" Evabelle exclaimed.

Zion closed the memory box. "I thought that that might be a good introduction." He explained. "Come on." And Zion began his way toward the door again back up to the wall.

At the top again, Evabelle asked. "So, Averno was bad already at that point?"

"It may have been hard to tell, but yes. He was already summoning demons as well as being in league with Rommel." Zion confirmed.

"What exactly was he doing with Rommel at that point? And what did he summon demons for?" Evabelle's head with spinning with new questions.

Zion nodded, obviously expecting as much. He leaned back against the wall. "Do you know who Rommel is and what he did?"

Evabelle started to nod, but stopped. "Well, kind of. He was a human that worked with Averno. Didn't he help make the Annihilator virus or something?"

Zion pursed his lips. "His story is a rather tragic one, but then so is Averno's. Yes, Rommel was a human who worked with Averno. He worked with Averno for years, long before we realized what was going on. Averno snuck Rommel into Jovis and let him set havoc upon us." Zion pushed himself up and began to pace. "Anahalians turned up dead or missing. Fires were set in the dead of night, killing many people. Later we even discovered that at least one of our Anahalian women was taken advantage of by him."

Evabelle gasped and clapped her hand over her mouth. "What could make anyone do things like that?" Her voice shook.

Zion stopped pacing and stared at Evabelle without seeing her. "A human with the Sight will often consider themselves to be cursed. They will see things that no one else does, and no one believes them. Rommel grew up a laughing stock. He grew into a very embittered man, and Averno found him and promised him freedom. He claimed to believe in Rommel and promised him so much, and so Rommel followed Averno. Broken men are very easy to corrupt."

Evabelle shook her head, feeling sick. "But A-Aza never talked about seeing things, and I didn't either."

"Well you wouldn't have." Zion said. "Not until your power was released. Aza, your friend, on the other hand," he paused. "Did she grow up in New York?"

"Well, sort of. She lived somewhere in Utah or something for eight years, before she moved in with her uncle."

"Hmm, well living in New York is easy to explain. Not a lot of magical folk live in big cities, and if they do they're pretty adept at blending in, but they do tend to be fairly common in the west of the U.S. Perhaps she did see some magic, but didn't realize what it was, or perhaps she pushed it out of her mind. You could ask her about that."

Evabelle nodded, and then gestured for her father to continue about Rommel, even though, the thought of him, officially made her sick.

Zion cleared his throat. "Well, we discovered that there was an intruder, but one does not simply walk into Jovis so freely. We knew someone let him in. Obviously security has been tightened since back then." Zion put his hands and the flat horizontal part of the wall and pushed himself up to sit on top. "It was never confirmed if Rommel helped Averno begin to develop the virus. Either way, he left a mark on us, not only his child."

Evabelle's eyes widened. "His child!? What--?" She stopped remembering about what he had said about an Anahalian woman being taken advantage of. "You mean that..."

Zion nodded. "I know that it is rude to give secrets that are not mine to tell, but I think you can figure this one out."

In the back of Evabelle's mind, a puzzle piece suddenly snapped into place. She had always known he was different. His wings were smaller and he wasn't as powerful. It made sense now. It's because he was part human. "Faux." She said softly.

"Ilori Seren, gave birth to a son before Delaney and Lucis were born. No one knew who the father was. Ilori was already such a private person. She was very young too. I believe it was very hard for her to admit what a human had done to her. She was scarred by Rommel, and never married, too terrified by the prospect. She felt ashamed and never told anyone. But Ilori loved her son very much. Unfortunately, it was obvious that he was different and sadly he was tormented because of it." Zion shook his head. "I can't help but draw parallels to his father."

Evabelle shook her head. "But Faux, isn't embittered. He's happy and silly."

"Often people hide their pain behind a smile." Zion said gravely. "He didn't used to be that way, happiness was a stranger to that boy for a while. He never knew why he was weaker than the others, until his father turned up. It all happened just about a week before Averno took your mother's and my life. Rommel had apparently split from Averno. He wanted to try at a normal life, but he was far beyond that. However that didn't stop him from severing ties. He didn't want any part of him left in Jovis. He murdered Ilori and after discovering that he had a son, tried to do the same to him." Zion sighed. "I don't know exactly what happened after all that. Kayne gathered memories of certain individuals for me, but Faux's life was not covered. Obviously things happened in that boy's life that changed him beyond what I know of him." A small smile lit Zion's expression once more. "But from what you've told me, I think that Faux will be far better than Rommel. He has good friends."

Evabelle smiled halfheartedly. Had all of her friends suffered so much?

"The point with all that was Averno let Rommel into Jovis years before he revealed himself." Zion started up again. "And to answer your question about summoning demons. You claimed, when you saw him, he had tattoos and batwings. He said that he wanted to be a Demon King. At that time, he was summoning them to get information and to gain power from them. The demons told him what he had to do to get what he wanted."

"And part of that was that he'd have to kill you." Evabelle whispered. "And he used Del to get close to you, so he could."

Zion nodded. "Before I died, Averno said that his son had always been weak, but at least he had been useful."

Evabelle felt sick. She sat down against the wall, next to Zion's feet. "Could you by chance, tell me something happy?"

"Evabelle there is a lot of sadness in this world, but you've got to remember that's not all there is." Zion said softly as he hopped down from the wall and sat next to her.

Evabelle leaned her head back against the wall, staring up at the coppery sky. "I just found out that one of my friends blames himself for what happened to his sister, and hate's himself so much that he'd probably try to kill himself if he had the chance, because technically he already tried. Then I find out that another one of my friends was persecuted because he was different and he didn't even know his father, or that it was his father's fault for what happened to him. And I also found out that one more of my friends was seen as nothing as a pawn to his father and used to kill my parents." Evabelle closed her eyes, feeling that familiar burning behind the lids. "And that's just what I found out today. I know there's more."

"Ask me a question." Zion responded to her tragedy.

Evabelle opened her eyes and turned her head to stare. "What?"

"I mean ask a question where the answer will make you happy." Zion explained. "Evabelle, pain can be an overpowering force, if you let it. You can't let yourself fall into the pit of despair, because of what you or your friends have been through. You need to remember the happy things that are worth the pain.

"I want you to ask a question about something that you would like to know. Don't make it about something you know will be sad. Don't make it about past demons."

Evabelle swallowed, and tried to think of something beyond all of this. Her mind swirled and tried to organize itself. What did she want to know? Earlier there had been so much, but now all there was, was dark images of the lives her friends all suffered through.

A small spark of light cut through the storm. It was a simple thing, but she reached out a hand and caught hold of it. "Earlier you mentioned that you and Mom each had your own nickname for me. Yours was Eva. But what did Mom call me?"

Zion smiled, approvingly. "Belle."

Evabelle felt a real smile hit her lips. "You called me by the first half, and my mom called me by the last." She gave a little laugh. Belle was her favorite Disney princess, and to know that her mother had called her that made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Zion pushed himself up from the ground and held out a hand to Evabelle. She took it, feeling the warmth and the pull, but not the hand, and stood as well. "I sense that our time is nearly up," Zion said.

"The day is coming and you like to be there when arrives." He gave her a teasing smile.

"I'm sorry," Evabelle hung her head. "My body is still set. It still wakes me up extra early."

Zion shook his head. "Don't worry about it. But I do want to tell you I showed you this today for many reasons. I wanted to show you how well a man can lie, and so much more. There are many memories that I hope will enlighten you and help you know what to do."

Evabelle sighed. "I really do wish I could sleep longer."

Zion grinned. "No, Evabelle go embrace the world." He put a hand on her shoulder. "Remember that while the world seems like a darkening storm, light is not so easily drowned. The sun will rise and the shadows will fall just like they always do."

~(A/N: Sorry for the freakishly long part here! I may have to start splitting some of these into three parts again. Sometimes it's really hard to find a cutting off point in the middle of chapters, so that they're not too long. Anyway, here's a whole lot of informational crap filled with tragedy and pasts! Everyone's been asking for more on those sorts of things, but I'm worried I may have overloaded it a little too much at once. Please let me know if it felt a little heavy and that I should try to spread it out more.

So I really need to work on taking critical advice. I need to improve and not be offended when someone says I'm not good at something. I need to be able to take peoples thoughts that I may not always like, but see what they mean and make changes accordingly. So I'm going to ask something new. On every chapter I would love to hear a suggestion about some way you think I could have made the chapter better (such as shortening one scene, lengthening another, less flowery description on one thing, or better explain something else, etc.) I'm hoping that will help me!

Now here are my few questions for this chapter...

What did you think about Kai's story? Do you think I should have described or revealed it in a different way besides him just telling them? Do you think I should have had some sort of flashback instead or anything like that?

What did you think of the memory that Zion showed Evabelle? What did you think of baby Eva, Lucis, and Del? What did you think of Averno in the memory? Were you surprised by anything in there?

Now were you surprised about the little revelation about Faux? I'm curious if anyone put it together from the little hints? (smaller wings, less powerful when they were attacked by werewolves in book 1, from the way you saw Elatus treat him when the elf said that it was the three of them that were the Anahalians's fools, Evabelle even mentions when she first gets a good look at Faux that he seemed the most human) (also take note of the pic above. The guy is named Luke Newberry and he is pretty much exactly how I picture Faux! Isn't he just too adorable :3)

And finally, if you were to go on a date with either Faux or Kai, who would you choose? Funny and crazy or sweet and charming? (Just for fun since this chapter had the two big bombs about these two precious babies :D)~
