Cliches #2 - Union Academy

Greetings, students and friends! I trust that you thoroughly enjoyed the process of crafting your magnificent original characters and Y/n and throwing them into wonderful tales!

Except for you, Jared... We need to have a discussion about your obsession on character assassination.

____Jared___

But, I want to make my character incredibly awesome and badass.

And as a result, you found yourself entangled in numerous lawsuits stemming from these character assassinations! It is distressing to witness the unrealistic crimes you attributed to the characters, causing even Hambo to experience a stroke upon reading them!

Moving forward, let's now focus on today's topic!

Union Academy Stories

What are they?

Where did they come from?

Who are they?

And why can't I stop putting so much of my time in Gravity Rush? (Awesome game btw!)

But I do know what it is!

Union Academy stories usually feel like being a vegan at an orgy, all that meat touching and you don't know what the hell is going on!

Now Union stories are basically a hotspot for edgy stories so atrocious that they edge me on in the wrong direction!

Here's a perfect meme to summarise it entirely!

Why have the beloved characters we know and cherish, who were once committed to making the world a safer haven for the innocent, now written into malicious and egotistical cunts?

The reason behind this unexpected transition is rooted in the notion that only the protagonist possesses the unwavering purity and virtuousness required of a true Edgelord……. I mean hero! Yes, only a pure hearted, bloodthirsty, irredeemable murderous hero!

I mean why are Rias and the gang evil? Well here's why!

Remember students! It's true that they are devils, but let's remember that this does not automatically make them evil. However, it's important not to overlook the immense challenges they faced while they were battling against the fucking forces of evil!

…….

Alright, I'll explain. That's exactly why some Wattpad writers portray the dxd cast as villains in Union Academy stories. There was this one guy who had the audacity to claim that "since they're devils, they have to be evil!" It's absolute nonsense and utterly fucked up to judge solely based on that! What you're doing is nothing short of doing the same!

Can you believe the amount of those individuals hating and labelling Issei as an irredeemable bastard just because he's horny? Seriously, like, who the fuck isn't? It's called hormones, people! Were you miraculously born without them or something, you dumbasses!?

Sorry about that, I just can't really comprehend how stupid some of those folks are…. Let's get to fixing that shall we!

Ahem!

When writing a Union Academy story, it is crucial to consider the persona of your Y/n or original character (oc). Do you envision them as a virtuous, morally upright individual, or perhaps as someone with more ambiguous intentions? Additionally, delve into their strength potential, pondering how powerful they currently are, and how much they can grow in the future.

Examples are Unions Strongest Dragon:

Y/n is based on Spyro the Dragon.

His motivation is to become the strongest Dragon and probably even more.

He is an arrogant and egotistical character, utterly conceited and lacking in humility. He exhibits an excessive sense of pride that prevents him from working alongside with others, until he experiences a multitude of setbacks, failures, and defeats. Then he has to swallow that pride and work with others. (Chap #2)

….

And his only abilities are super strength, super speed, flight and breathing fire! That's easy to remember instead of using…. Multiple elements.

But what happens if I find my character in a class filled with characters from different series who are the same age as them?

That's simple! This is where I encountered a simple solution:

Divide and Conquer!

Choose a character in the story who you want your protagonist to befriend, become a rival to, or share a class with. This choice will not only make the storytelling process easier and faster, but it will also benefit you in future developments.

Let's also put them in a team class! Another example:

1A = Team Alpha

1B = Team Beta

1D = Team Delta

1G = Team Gamma

Now I asked on my message board about which tropes I should discuss in Wattpad cliches.

Yea I wanna ask why doesn't the protagonist ever stop Cardin from bullying Jaune and but only stops Cardin from picking on a stranger…. Here's a simple answer!

Ahem! I'll get into character rq!

Methinks, mine valorous fellow, that verily hath Jaune perchance earned his just retribution. Yet, 'tis far from rightful that fair rabbit maiden Velvet should suffer such fate! Mine utmost duty beckons me to champion her cause, as my ardent burning loins compel me to doth so!

Does that answer everyone's questions? good!

Next is!

It's because they don't wanna go towards portraying character growth through writing, they rather often resort to providing plot armour for their characters. Resultantly, these characters swiftly embark on their journeys, just like Professor Oak's speedrun to get the player to collect Pokemon so he bang our mother.

If you guys are also keen on making the protagonist overpowered, let's brainstorm a creative way to explain how he acquired his immense strength. One intriguing suggestion that caught my eye is from a comment by ice_heater on the previous lesson!

Now, next is!

I mean having them ooc or not could work, as long as you are sure you can keep them the same as they are.

For example, let's consider Ruby Rose in Unions Strongest Dragon. In this version, she remains true to her original character while adding a new dimension – being a dedicated fangirl of the protagonist. This tweak allows her to maintain her intrinsic qualities while showcasing her admiration for the main character.

Few more quick examples are:

Deku is a bit sassy when it comes to online debates.

Issei is a bro before hoes to Y/n.

Rias is a big sister to Y/n.

But only if you're comfortable and not feeling obligated to write someone a bit out of character. It's completely up to you.

Next is!

Okay that's called fanservice and it's to entice the guys in the basement.

Is it just me or is the way Wattpad authors mess with dialogue tags really confusing? Also are you referring to how characters speak, like:

Character A: "let's go that way!"

Character A runs and punches a few enemies to escape the dungeon.

Character B: (follows him) "right behind you!"

Character B slams their hammer into the ground.

Character A: (leaps over character B)

Or

Hero swiftly rushes forward, instinctively raising his shield to deflect the flurry of arrows aimed at him by the dungeon enemies. His MP, already running perilously low, serves as a bitter reminder of his underestimated opponent. Even as high-levelled adventurers, they find themselves regretting their decision to venture into this treacherous 5+ star levelled dungeon.

Glancing at the map with determination etched on his face, Hero clenches his teeth and turns to his companion. "This way, companion-kun," he declares, addressing his friend with urgency. "I believe we can find an escape route along this path!" His friend, acknowledging the urgency of the situation, nods in agreement. With an earth-shattering swing of his mighty hammer, he sends the enemies hurtling through the air. Seizing the opportunity, Hero leaps forward with lightning speed, closely following his comrade, with a sole objective—escaping the looming perils of this unforgiving dungeon.

Still confused on what you meant Madcircle! So uh… This is what I assume you meant by.

Or unless it's protagonists stealing other characters lines, if so then yea that's bloody weird.

Next is!

Unfortunately I am already talking about Union Academy…. But the next lesson is about abused and neglected stories!

…..

I guess that's all then…. Hm…

Jared, you got three weeks of detention!

__Jared__

What? Why!?

I know that you just made a Union Academy x abused/neglected Saiyan!reader, but it seems like you may have missed an important lesson.

__Jared__

Well, at least my story has waay better writing than yours!

Lemme see that!

…..

They're all just harem lists! That's every Union Academy ol' reliable!

Alright students! Pack your stuff and make sure to look and revise the lesson.

Jared…. Stay after class, I want you to see… Headmaster Lightcero.

"Oh Fuck!"

Btw, there's nothing wrong with making a character edgy.... Just don't character assassinate someone.

Cya guys till the next lesson!
