Episode 34: The Revengers

💭

Lisa heaved a sigh. Her feelings are all messed up right now and she can't think straight. It's been days and Jungkook was still unconscious.

She's mad at him. What he did was unforgivable. But why doesn't it bother her that much? Because he said he loves me? Does the end justify its means?

But she did thought it was one of them. Whoelse would've had insider information like that? At first she thought it was Namjoon then Hoseok. But never did it cross her mind that it would be Jungkook.

The fate was the only person who had the guts to call her out when she's done horrible things. Or when she was out of line. And the fate was the only one who told her about Jimin and Rosé's betrayal when they both had no guts to do so. He only outed Jennie so she'd realize who she was supposed to be with. He helped a lot giving Jin and Jisoo freedom to love each other.

The fate kinda was their guardian angel disguised as the devil.

"Please wake up..." she managed to say as her tears slowly cascaded down her cheek. "Please, Kookie. Please come back to me."

She held his hand like it was her lifeline. It was the first time she cried since the incident. She was always great at masking her feelings but when it came to him, she always find herself on her most vulnerable state.

The night she let herself go--when she found out about her best friend and then boyfriend's betrayal, she told him everything. Yoongi's accident, her life away from the limelight and the pain she kept pent up inside her. It was the first time she bore her soul out to someone else. Even the things her brother didn't know, she told him. And he listened.

At first she thought he'd laugh at me. Or use all those things against me. But he didn't. And knowing he had the platform to expose me, he still kept my secret.

"Kookie... Please...." She ducked her head—her forehead touching his hand, and cried some more. She was still holding his and and she refuse to let go.

"You know I hate it when I see you crying."

Lisa's head automatically raised as she heard that familiar baritone voice. It was a bit raspy but she was certain it was his.

"I'd prefer hearing you moan next to my ear."

Even with the oxygen mask on, his smirk was still visible. She broke down even more. Relief washed through her and she cried even more--which she didn't think was even possible.

It takes more than just a party to be called Queen. For a crown this big, you can't even buy your way in. Try again, Tzuyu. Maybe third time's the charm.

xoxo

"Wow. I mean seriously, the new fate roasted Tzuyu in her post," Jimin exclaimed as he read through the post. It was almost midnight and he's still with Taehyung hanging out at his place. "Told you it'll flop."

"Bad publicity is still publicity, I guess," Taehyung said like he was bored out of his wits. He's currently trying to get in The Fate's page as Jimin rested his head on him back. "Ugh. I love you but you're getting pretty heavy this days."

"That's actually your fault," he defended. "You keep feeding me--

A notification suddenly popped making his eyes grow wide. He got up and grabbed his coat from Taehyung's desk.

"Where are you going?" Taehyung asked as he rolled over.

"Uh, dad asked me to come home for a bit," he answered. "He said it was an emergency."

"Oh."

Jimin leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before heading out of the room. When the coast was clear, Taehyung fished his phone out from his pocket.

"You were right, Lis. I'm sorry."

💭

"I need you to tell me the truth, Rosé. The whole truth," Lisa said as she entered the room surprising her. "Did you or did you not shoot Jungkook that night?"

"I swear, Lis. I didn't!" she answered crying. "I... I was just so mad at him. I wanted to confront him. He ruined my reputation as well as our friendship—"

"In case you forgot, honey, it was sleeping with my boyfriend that ruined your rep and our friendship," Lisa stated. "The Fate didn't do that. You did."

"But I wouldn't have been publicly scrutinized!" She defended. "I mean, I was going to tell you. I was going to come clean—"

"And do you think it would be that easy?! You lied to me. You betrayed me. You can't keep playing the victim card here. I forgave you for that but you still chose to do this. To the man you clearly see that I love."

Rosé balled her fist.

"Forgave?" She scoffed. "You might've forgiven me but you never fail to remind me every fucking day what I did. You always make me feel like I'm the worse kind of person to ever exist."

Lisa fumed. But a part of her wanted to defend herself because she didn't really mean to do all those things she just said. She'd been mean to everyone since before and she never sugar-coat her words.

"Because you are," she said causing Rosé to tear up even more. "You slept with him when you know for a fact how much I loved him. What kind of best friend does that?"

"I told you it was an accident—"

"Accident or not, you slept with him. And I had to find out from someone else," she cut her off.

"But Jimin didn't want me to tell you!"

"And you listened to him?" She blurted out. "If you had any decency left in your body you would've told me sooner. You wouldn't have listened to him if you really wanted to come clean. But you didn't. Because you were scared. You didn't trust that I'd understand."

"Decency?!" Rosé lashed out. "You have the audacity to say that? My gods, Lisa! Stop acting like you're high and mighty. You're just as horrible as what you imply me to be. You manipulate the people around you like they're some chess pieces. You do these elaborate schemes for fun but ruin other people in the process--"

"May I remind you that those schemes you're saying is one of the reason why you're living a free life instead of being behind bars after you killed that guy," she threw.

"See? You keep reminding me how you always do things I didn't even ask you to--"

"I did those because I love you!" she cut her off. "You fucking idiot. You're my fucking best friend that's why I helped you. Don't you understand? Even if you betrayed me, I wouldn't think twice helping you out. And even if you shot this asshole that almost got him killed, I'll still help your pretty little ass so you don't end up in fucking jail."

Rose fell silent before breaking down in tears. She crouched down the floor and kept sobbing.

"I'm sorry," she cried out. "I... I was mad and... and... I don't know. I didn't know what to do. And when I saw how hurt you were Lis, I wasn't able to think straight. I used one of dad's guns to get things even. I... I'm really sorry. You were the best best friend a girl could ever ask for and I'm the shittiest one ever--"

Lisa wasn't able to stop herself. She crouched down with her and wrapped her arms around the crying girl. Yes, they were a weird bunch. It's what makes them different.

"Even if they say orange is the new black, you'd look horrible in it," she joked making the crying girl chuckle a bit.

Like she said, they're weird. Someone almost died but they still manage to make jokes.

"But I really didn't pull the trigger," she continued. "I swear on my life, Lis. I didn't."

Her eyebrows furrowed and she turned to Jungkook.

"She's right," he said crouching down as well. It's been a good week since he woke up so his condition had been better. He pretended for days whenever they visit to wait for the perfect timing to trap Rose into confessing. "The bullet hit me on my chest while she pointed the gun at my face."

Jungkook saw Rose that night.

"He apologized to me," she told Lisa. "That's why I couldn't pull the trigger. But everything happened so fast that's why I ran."

"Wait. If you ran away, then who took his things to make it seem like a robbery?"

"I did."

Three heads turned towards the hospital door. Min Yoongi walked in and sighed.

"I saw you that night, Ro," he explained. "I saw how confused you look when I took you home. So I followed you when you thought I already left. And when I saw you run after shooting Jungkook, I... I covered up your tracks. I took all his belongings to make it look like it was a robbery instead."

Rose gasped and Lisa's eyes grew wide.

He turned toward Jungkook. "I'm sorry. But... But I needed to save her."

"But... I thought..."Rose turned towards Lisa. "I thought he was the one who covered our tracks."

"He? Who's he, Ro?" Lisa immediately asked.

"The one who really shot Jungkook. The person who made sure I the dirty work," she said then turned to Jungkook. "It's Park Jimin."

🌻

Jimin ran through the halls towards a certain room. There he saw Lisa sitting by the waiting area dazed. Her face looked puffy and her eyes were red. She cried. She cried for the scumbag, Jeon Jungkook.

"Lis?" He said as he sat beside her. "How's Jungkook?"

Looking lifeless, she pointed at the wide window of the ICU. It pains him to see her in this state. But it was necessary. Jungkook's one tough asshole.

White sheet was covering the body and the monitors around it were turned off. Rose succeeded. He won.

"What? How? I mean, the doctors said he was showing progress--"

"Well they were wrong," she blurted out. "He's dead. I just went out to get something to eat and when I came back, the doctors were already in panic."

She stood up.

"I... I can't stay here," she said stuttering. "I can't look at him like this."

"I'll come with you--"

"I'd like to be alone," she stopped him. "No offense but, I really don't want to talk to anyone right now."

"I understand," he said and she left.

Patience, Jimin. You'll have her soon enough. No one's here to take her away from now on.

As Lisa's retreating figure disappeared, he went inside the isolated room. His eyes darted towards the body lying on the hospital bed. He lips formed a thin line.

"It's weird to see you like this," he started. "But I guess it's for the best. You dying would bring everything back to normal. I can have everything you stole back. Including Lisa. It's just a shame it had to end like this."

Then his expression changed from being pokerfaced to sinister.

"This is what you get when you double cross me," he said smirking. "You took my happiness, I take your life. And here you thought you're the only one who knows how to manipulate people? Well guess again.

"It wasn't hard to find out your deepest, darkest secret. You should thank that homosexual best friend of yours. He sure doesn't know how to keep secrets once he gets a dick in his mouth. He left his phone out in the open and there I found the evidence I need to take you down. Did you know I'm really good at computer stuff? And that my main skill is hacking? No, you wouldn't. Because you're a self-centered bastard.

"I just needed to time to get through your security," he continued. "I did and released a statements outing myself--which by now you know was just to secure my hold on Taehyung, and making everyone hold a grudge against The Fate.

"I could've easily exposed your identity to everyone but I do need to enjoy torturing you first. It was just a matter of time when you, yourself break it off with Lisa. And I was right. But Taehyung had to talk you into apologizing. Good thing I had a back-up plan. Jung Jaewon"

His fingers trailed on the heart monitor on his left.

"That weird brother of Hoseok. He was so easy to manipulate--too easy like his brother. He did dirty work for me and him being caught was all part of the plan. I even played a part in your so-called rescue. But I was certain Hoseok would rat you out. and you'd be finished. You'd lose everything. Respect, credibility and her."

"But of course, I had to make sure you were done for. I can't take any more chances. So I put ideas inside Rose's intoxicated head. That bitch would do everything when she's wasted. From having sex to committing felony. But what she didn't know was that I killed you. It was me. And I'll wear that like a badge of honor."

He laughed like the lunatic he is.

"I guess handcuffs would also look good with that badge."

Jimin's head turned and saw Jeon Jungkook alive and breathing behind him. His head snapped back towards the hospital bed and saw Yoongi sitting upright. And boy was he pissed.

"Call my girlfriend a bitch again and you'll be sorry we didn't throw you off Tartarus."

He cursed. Then ran straight towards the door where a pissed off Taehyung was waiting.

"Game's over, Jimin. Checkmate."

His phone buzzed.
