Chapter 82
You: Well, I summoned you because I...
The words seemed to get stuck in your throat. It was like your tongue felt it was betrayal to form the following words. But, you forced them.
You: I missed you.
His reaction worried you, so you quickly took it back.
You: I'm sorry, you're right. Yeah, we should focus on the mission.
Hunter: No--yes--I mean, you're right about the mission. It's important and all that, but it's normal to miss someone, right?
You nodded.
Hunter: It's normal to think about someone too. There's nothing wrong with thinking about someone.
You: Yeah, I completely agree.
Hunter: Good, because I've been thinking about you, a lot lately, but that doesn't mean I'm obsessed, right?
You hesitated.
You: Right.
Hunter: You hesitated.
You: I was just...not expecting the feelings to be returned.
Hunter: Oh, sure! I'm just as surprised as you are. I don't mean to offend you, but when I first met you, I thought you would become too good of friends with the crew members. I thought you might...um...fall for one of them. But, I guess you don't find them very interesting.
You: I find them interesting, but not as interesting as you.
Hunter: That's so great! When we get this mission over with, if it's okay with you, we can spend a lot more time together.
You: After the mission, don't I go home?
Hunter: No! Leader is thankful to all her servants. Leader won't abandon you. You'll join us and live in our sanctuary. Together, we can be stronger.
At first, you assumed the mission was simply a job, not a commitment. But, from what Hunter was saying, you realized much more than a week of loyalty was expected from you.
You: Oh...I didn't realize this mission was just the beginning of my allegiance to Leader.
Hunter: Well, of course! Leader protects all who fight for the cause. If not, after the mission, the other side would find you and destroy you.
You couldn't find anything to say. Okay, you could, but criticizing the guy who is your only ally would likely be a bad idea.
Hunter: I thought you would be happy about the life after this mission.
You: I...I just didn't realize...
Hunter: I guess I should've mentioned it when you first arrived. But, I thought I would be good enough so you wouldn't miss your old life.
You weren't sure what you were feeling in your stomach. Was it nerves? Was it butterflies? You weren't sure if you liked it or not.
Hunter: Sorry, I've said too much. I shouldn't talk--I should just report. Yes, report. Report what Leader has told me to tell you.
You: It's okay, it's just so much.
Hunter: Leader wishes for you to spend more time with the passengers. Leader believes the best way to have a bond is to spend time with the person/people you wish to bond with.
You: I suppose I should have gone to breakfast.
Hunter: Don't worry about it. You didn't know better. There are also things to cover with you. First of all: the Greek gods.
You: The Greek gods?
Hunter: They are real. Save your shock for later. They have children, which are demigods. Demigods are designed in a way where ADHD and Dyslexia are prevalent, so don't forget to show the symptoms I told you about last night.
You: I don't see why I'm pretending to be a demigod.
Hunter: The passengers on this ship are demigods. Last night, Leader sent a dream to Annabeth. Within the dream, a divine entity told Annabeth you were its child and you were sent here to be protected. So, now, Annabeth thinks you are a demigod with a ring from the entity that put you on this ship.
You: Seems legit.
Hunter: I sense some sarcasm, so I must make sure you realize how serious this is. What's happening now, it's far from the most outrageous things that have happened.
You: Name one.
Hunter: A nosebleed that started the beginning of a war.
You: Okay, you win.
Hunter: (Y/N), I want to make sure you know I care about you. You know that, right?
You nodded.
Hunter: So if you have any problems with the mission, you know you can talk to me. You don't have to confide in the crew to get help. You can come directly to me. I'll help you.
You: Thank you, Hunter.
(This is a time skip, but I would like the take this opportunity to warn everyone not to lend people you aren't really friends with money. I bought someone a homecoming ticket (long story) and she promised to pay me back. It's summer break. I have yet to have the money. I've asked multiple times. I'm out $20 and I'm still triggered. Don't loan money to people you don't actually know, like friends of a friend.)
After Hunter left, you considered leaving your room to explore the ship and find someone to talk to. But, you felt uncomfortable
There was a knock on the door.
Leo: Hey, (Y/N)! If you're done with your yoga, you can join us for lunch!
Choice time:
Chapter 98: Stay in your room and summon Hunter again.
Chapter 99: Sure thing!
