Travis and Katie
Travis took a deep breath as Katie slept next to him. He was safe for now since she was asleep.
Carefully, he got up and tipped toed out of the bedroom.
He needed to find it and he couldn't believe he forgot where he put it. The one thing he couldn't lose and he lost it. He tore this apartment apart and he couldn't find it.
There was a knock on the door and Travis went to answer it. His brother, Conner, was standing there. Travis could feel a headache coming on.
"Conner, I don't have time-"
"Dude, you left this at my place." Conner showed him the little black velvet box. "This is kind of important if you plan to ask Katie to marry you."
Travis took it and opened the box to make sure the ring was in there. It was and just as beautiful as ever.
"Thank you bro. You have no idea how long I was looking for this." Travis told him. "I tore this place apart."
"I can tell." Conner said, looking around the apartment. "Katie must be pissed at you."
"She's asleep. I just need to clean this place up, set up a romantic setting, make dinner, and light like twenty something candles before asking her." Travis sighed. His whole day, he was suppose to set all this up but instead he looked for her ring.
"Why not ask her tomorrow?" Conner asked.
"Cause I want her to be my fiancee now. I've been dying to ask her but I needed to get the money first. And last week I finally got the money and was able to size it."
"It doesn't have to be a big romantic gesture."
"But it will be. It has to be."
"Then take her to the gardens, at night. I can set up tinkling lights there for you. Make it the romantic place that you want." Conner offered. "I'm sure my boss will be okay with it."
Travis smiled. It would be perfect and Katie will hopefully forgive him for making a huge mess.
That night, Travis was able to convince Katie to go for a walk with him. It took him a while since he had to clean the apartment and was waiting for Conner to give him the okay.
They just had to be there before ten.
And they were right on time. They got to the entrance of the garden at 9:45pm.
"Travis, what are we doing here?" Katie asked.
"Conner wanted to show me a preview of something that the garden was working on to help their plants grow." Travis said before opened the door.
He had faith in his brother, which was great. As soon as the door opened, it triggered something that caused the lights above the plants twinkle.
Travis watched as Katie's mouth slightly open in amazement as they walked. The lights looked like little stars twinkling in the dark sky.
"Oh wow. Is this amazing." Katie breathed. "Conner out did himself in making sure the lighting would be good.
"Yeah, he did." Travis smiled.
They kept walking down the path to see the different flowers and vegetables and fruits. Katie was smiling as she looked at some of the flowers, seeing how pretty they were.
They got to the middle of the garden and there were candles set up in a clearing, like they were preparing to plant something there, in a shape of a heart.
"W-what is this?" Katie asked.
Travis took this as his cue. He walked her to the middle of the heart. Taking both of her hands, he smiled at her.
"Katie, you make me extremely happy. I love you so much and I'm getting tired of calling you my girlfriend." He got down on one knee and took out the velvet box. "Katie Gardner, will you marry me?"
Her eyes stared at the ring in the box. They started to fill with tears as she nodded. "Yes! Yes Travis!"
He got up and placed it on her finger before kissing her. There were tears falling down her cheek and he gently wiped them away.
"I love you Travis." Katie smiled.
"I love you too. And I'm still sorry about the mess. I was just trying to find the ring."
She backed up and stared at him. "That's why you tore the apartment apart?"
"Yeah."
She started chuckling before kissing him again. "You're forgiven."
