Genius and Meaness
Jillian Stoll's POV
It was lunch time. Finally. I had been starving since my Business class, and that was at 9:00 am. I practically ran to the cafeteria. I hadn't really talked to anyone; I'm not an extremely social person, but I figured, might as well find a table.
The cafeteria was way bigger than it ws when it was empty. My head started spinning just from looking at all those people and hearing them.
I saw Scarlett Solace first. As in my cousin Scarlett. And of course, her table was filled. She was sitting with the most popular Freshmen in school, based on what I'd overheard. Not who I really wanted to sit with. I saw Jessie and Curt Grace next, sitting at a table full of jock-looking guys and girls. Not really me either. I saw Karrie Grace, Sophia Jackson, Julia Solace, and my older sister Lia all sitting together with a few other girls. They were the popular Juniors. I didn't want Lia to think I was depending on her.
Pretty much, I had no one to sit with, and didn't really want to sit with anyone else. So I sat down at the nearest empty table and quietly ate my lunch. My solitude didn't last for long.
"Hey," I looked up to see three girls sitting down at my table with me. The one who'd spoken was tall, and had her dark brown hair in a side braid. She smiled at me and held out a hand to shake.
"I'm Bailey Phillips, and these are my friends Hailey Linden and Faith Linden." Hailey and Faith looked identical. You literally couldn't tell them apart. They both had the exact same pale but starlingly clear complextion, blue eyes, and red hair that sat perfectly on their shoulders.
"Hi, I'm Hailey. And yes, Faith and I are identical twins," She smiled to reveal perfectly straight teeth. "The only way to tell us apart is our noses. Mine is smaller,"
Faith shrugged. "That's not true. There's no way to tell us apart. Clearly Mrs. McCay demonstrated that in English. Right?" I nodded, laughing.
"I was in your Business Class, you know, with Mr. Dover? You're a smart cookie, I must say." Bailey's hands folded on the table, her blue nail polish complimenting her blue eyes nicely.
"Thanks," I muttered quietly. "I'm Jillian Stoll, by the way."
"Well, it's very nice to meet you, Jillian," Faith smiled. At least I think it was Faith.
"Well, we had a reason in coming over here. We have reasons for everything, you know," Hailey folded her hands in the same manner that Bailey had moments before.
"We're the overachievers on campus. We're the best in every category." Faith looked me dead in the eyes. "And we think you might just fit in with our group."
To be honest, I was both flattered and creeped out. It was the first day, and a clique already had it's eyes on me?
"There's no pressure. Believe me, Jillian, there isn't. But we all want high seats in Student Council, and who better to trust with the fourth spot but someone just like us, who can help run this school right? I don't care which one of us gets Class President, Class Representative, Class Treasurer, or Class Vice President as long as it's one of us. Doesn't that seem like a pretty sweet deal?" I didn't even have to think. I wanted so badly to be the President, more than anything else.
"Yes. I'll do it"

**3:20 PM**
"Alright, class... I know I'm supposed to say no talking, but who wants that? You can talk and stuff, go on your phone... whatever, as long as we keep it down." I stared at Mr. Pueblo in disbelief. We could never do that in middle school! "Oh and also... Sit wherever."
I couldn't help but smile. It just so happened that both Bailey and Faith were in my Study. They motioned for me to come sit with them, where they had their homework out.
"Ready to start our plan?" Apparently not homework.
I looked over Faith's shoulder at what Bailey was going doing. In her binder was a piece of white computer paper. On it was scrawled the words 'To Become The Top of The Class.'
"What's that about?" I asked, feeling completely out-of-it.
"This," Bailey said with so much confidence that you might think she was a diva, "is our guide to becoming the top of our class."
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Hey guys! I hope you liked the chapter! I have the rest of the story pretty much planned out, and it looks like this story will be around 30 chapters long. I'm really going to limit myself, and have each girl's chapter a few months spread out in their time. I'm going to try to update once or twice a week, so you can expect this story to be done by at least Thanksgiving, if not earlier. I'm having so much fun writing this story, and I can't thank you all enough for reading it! Love you!
