The Conference of the Birds-Ransom Riggs

On the advice of @CFarley982 I'm going to give a little description of the book before I start the actual review.

The Conference of the Birds is the fifth of currently six books in the "Peculiar Children" series. The preceding titles are as follows: "Miss. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", "Hollow City", "Library of Souls", and finally "A Map of Days". The following book is titled "The Desolation of Devils Acre" (No spoilers for it, if you decide to read it, please!)

Here's a generalized description of the first book and a helpful definition of a word I use in the actual review. Here's the description: Normal boy (or so he thinks) Jacob Portman witnesses the incoherent last words of his grandfather Abraham telling him specific things that turn out to be a code that send him and his (semi unwilling) father to a remote Welsh isle. Shenanigans ensue, and Jacob ends up going on a time-travelling adventures with the afore mentioned Peculiar children. And that leads you into book two.

And here's the terminology lesson: Ymbryne- Peculiar woman (always a woman) who can turn into a bird and create Time Loops, and take care of the Peculiar children in their Loop.

Onward to the actual Review:  4/5 stars

This book was not at all what I expected. Before I continue, spoiler warning for Conference. I expected a road trip of discovery for Jacob and Noor. They would find "V" and the other six of the Peculiar seven (I specify Peculiar because of Rick Riordan. If you've read his "Heroes of Olympus" series, you'll know what I mean.) Instead, we get quite a bit of Peculiar politics and  we don't see "V" 'till near the end, and not meet another member of the Seven.

I know it sounds like I didn't like "The Conference of the Birds" but I did. I especially liked the that Fiona is actually alive, and her being alive is not just the hope of Hugh. The twist that "V" is a Ymbryne was mind blowing, but really cool.

In Conclusion, "The Conference of the Birds" was a let down of expectations, but still really cool.
