I like a remixed fairy tale as much as the next gal, and this was a pretty good one. Princess Sophie is Snow White, but her step-mother-wait, I forgot, medium spoilers ahead. On with the review. Sophie's step-mother isn't the big bad in this book. Instead it's this flying, talking climax starting King of Crows. And the Prince? Well, the one with the title of prince, is simply put, an asshole. The actual main male protagonist is a simple farm boy. The end of the book had me cackle with laughter and go "All hail Queen Sophie of the Greenlands." This book also made me want to see "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish". I've watched and listened to some reviews, and for reasons that are heavy spoiler territory, this book made me want to watch it even more.

In conclusion, Go read the Waterfire Saga (after you read this one, and like mermaids and Atlantis)
