Some Folks Dream

~ Four Years Later ~

Mr. L: "TIMPANIIIIIIIIIII! GET YOUR CHILD OFF OF ME!"

Mr. L came storming into the tower, with little Dio clinging to his leg. Mr. L glared at her as he tried shaking the young kid off his leg.

Timpani: "Aww, he likes you."

Mr. L: "He won't leave me alone. I AM TRYING. TO. SLEEP!"

Dio happily giggled, as Mr. L continued trying to remove the child.

Dio: "Higher! Higher!"

Mr. L: "Alright, listen here you little son of a-"

Timpani: "MR. L! DON'T YOU DARE FINISH THAT SENTENCE!"

Timpani pointed to a small swear jar, which was filled with money, mostly from Mr. L. He groaned and clenched his fists.

Mr. L: "....Witch. Son of a witch. I did not curse. I am not putting a dollar in the jar!"

Timpani giggled as she walked over and grabbed Dio off his leg.

Timpani: "Dio, it's way past your bedtime. Now leave Mr. L alone."

He smiled and nodded, acting completely innocent now.

Dio: "Okay Mommy!"

He quickly teleported off to his room, as Mr. L let out a sigh of relief, then yawned.

Mr. L: "Thank you. It's nearly midnight, how is he not tired??"

Timpani's eyes went wide at the mention of the time. She nearly lost track!

Timpani: "What? Nearly midnight already?! I gotta get to the top of the tower! Thanks for dealing with Dio! Sorry he keeps pestering you!""

She quickly ran to the elevator and punched in the buttons.

Mr. L shrugged and rolled his eyes as he let out a sigh of relief, crashing onto the couch. He didn't even have the energy to walk to his room. Besides, it was hard to fall asleep in there with O'Chunks' loud snoring.

Timpani and Blumiere were both running Flipside Tower now, and they gave rooms to each of Blumiere's former minions. However, they were required to share rooms now that the kid was here, so Mr. L was bunking with O'Chunks, while Mimi and Nastasia were roommates.

Dio: "Mr. L!!"

Dio suddenly teleported right over Mr. L's stomach and landed right on top of him. Mr. L made a quiet 'oof' sound, before sitting up and raising an eyebrow at the child.

Mr. L: "I see you're still awake."

Dio excitedly nodded as Mr. L let out a long sigh. Dio has been getting more and more determined to constantly pester him.

Mr. L: "Why are you bothering me, exactly?"

Dio: "Because I want you to tell me about uncle Dimmy!"

Mr. L: "Don't call him that. It makes me very uncomfortable when you call him that."

Nastasia had told him a few years back about how Blumiere and Dimentio were technically half brothers, but it still seemed so weird. That was not a very pleasant conversation, and it involved a lot of shouting. There were tables broken, there was a brief chunking, and some true forms may have been shown. But other than that, it went great! Eventually everyone began to accept it.

Mr. L: "And why are you asking me, exactly?"

Dio: "Because, you talk about him in your sleep!"

Mr. L: "W-What the heck?! Do... DO YOU WATCH ME IN MY SLEEP?! Kid, that's creepy on so many levels."

Dio shrugged, and excitedly pulled at Mr. L's new bandana. He bought another a few years back. Sure, it was a slightly lighter shade of green, and it wasn't as soft, but that didn't matter. He never liked the feeling of his neck being exposed.

Dio: "Come on, tell me about him! Please...."

Mr. L waited a moment, before letting out a sad breath he seemed to be holding in.

Mr. L: "It doesn't matter. He's gone."

Dio: "Oh... cool cool. So when can I meet him?"

Mr. L: "Kid, what part of 'gone' do you not understand?"

Mr. L groaned before sitting up and grabbing the child's hand.

Mr. L: "I'm too tired. Why don't we ask your mother. She's always up at this time anyways."

He slowly led the kid towards the elevator, punched in the buttons, and stepped inside. Dio impatiently tapped his foot, then began bouncing a small blue projectile from hand to hand.

Dio: "Mommy never tells me anything though. She always gets too sad. And when I ask daddy, he says to ask mommy. You see, I'm kinda caught in a loop here."

Mr. L rolled his eyes, as the elevator door opened.

Mr. L: "Well, I'll respectfully force her to tell you. Sound good?"

Dio: "Okay!"

Timpani was standing at the edge of the tower, just like every night, with Dimentio's mask in her hands. It was a beautiful night tonight. A few clouds were indicating that it will softly rain, so she had a red umbrella up there with her, set down off to the side just in case she'd need it.

The elevator door slid open and Mr. L cleared his throat, causing Timpani to jump a little and turn around.

Timpani: "O-Oh! Mr. L, I thought you were going to sleep."

He pushed Dio forward, an exhausted expression on his face.

Mr. L: "Yeah, this little magician had other plans."

She sighed as she walked over and picked up Dio.

Timpani: "Dio... you gotta let Mr. L sleep,"

Dio: "I wanna hear about uncle Dimmy!"

She froze up and looked at Mr. L, who was leaning against the elevator door, crossing his arms. He just offered a shrug and mouthed, 'just tell him so I can go to sleep.'

She sighed, before setting Dio down.

Timpani: "You sure you want to hear? It's pretty sad..."

Dio excitedly nodded.

Dio: "Yes! I wanna hear about him!"

She looked down at the mask in her hands and softly smiled. She remembered the moment she bought it for him. They were goofing around at that shop, exploring the city for the first time. Those were the golden days...

Timpani: "Very well... I'll tell you about the Dimentio I know."

Dio sat down as she walked behind him, then kneeled down, and pulled out Dimentio's mask, handing it to the small child.

She offered him a warm smile, then kissed his cheek and looked up at the sky.

Timpani: "Some folks dream of the wonders they'll do,
Before their time on this planet is through.
Some just don't have anything planned,
They hide their hopes and their heads in the sand.

Now I don't say who is wrong, who is right

But since by chance you are here for the night
Then all I need is a moment or two

To tell the tale of a dreamer like you...."

She looked to Mr. L and stood up.

Timpani: "We all dream a lot....
Some are lucky,"

She looked down to the side,

Timpani: "Some are not.
But if you think it, want it, dream it, then it's real

You are what you feel...."

She kneeled down again pointed to the mask in Dio's hands.

Timpani: "But all that I say can be told another way
In the story of a boy who had dreams too...

And he's just like you...."

She hugged Dio as he began to yawn.

Timpani: "You tired, Dio?"

He shook his head and leaned into her.

Dio: "No, no, please tell me more."

She picked him up, and walked to the elevator, as he began to drift off.

Timpani: "Don't worry. I'll tell you everything."

Mr. L watched her as she punched in the elevator buttons, and went back downstairs. He let out a small sigh, before going to the edge of the tower, lying down on his back, and looked at the dark sky. Timpani left her small red umbrella up here, but it looked like it wouldn't rain too hard tonight, so he didn't bother. He slowly closed his eyes and let out a long, sad sigh.

Mr. L: "We miss you, Dim."

______

Timpani slowly tucked Dio into bed, as she told Dimentio's tale, from HER point of view. Not the tale of the psycho clown who nearly ended all worlds, but the tale... of a friend. A friend who did whatever it took to get her this happy ending. She softly explained his story, as Dio drifted off to sleep, hugging the mask to himself. Once he was fully asleep, she leaned down and kissed his forehead, before getting up and heading to bed herself, leaving the mask in the hands of her son.

Timpani: "Goodnight, Dio. Sleep well, my little magician."
