Intermission/Secret Story
AN: Congrats. You've made it through the first half. I really hope you're enjoying this so far. I know it's weird and out there, but I hope you like it nevertheless. The second half will be here soon. I've already started writing it and everything, so yay! It's gonna be a little bit, with school starting up soon and life being difficult I haven't been making as much progress as I'd like, but I only have like three chapters left that I need to figure out and write, so it shouldn't be too long!
Hopefully see ya there!

Here's a small secret part of the story. Takes place just after Defying Gravity from the first book:
Warning, Mentions of Suicide
Student#1: "Did you hear what happened?"
Student#2: "Did you hear the news?"
Student#1: "Dimentio just flew off. He just flew off. Ha! Coward, running away."
Student#2: "Shhh, not so loud. His brother's right there."
Jacq sat in his chair, Rose behind him carrying his suitcases, as all the students around them continued whispering.
Jacq: "He not a coward."
The students all turned to face him all the sudden.
Student#1: "Excuse me?"
Jacq: "You're excused. My brother is not a coward."
The students all laughed to each other, before the first one walked close and kneeled down in front of him, leaning in real close.
Student#1: "Then where is he now? Huh?"
Jacq: "He-....he's...."
Student#1: "I thought he was supposed to be here, taking care of you. Looks like Mr. Big shot forgot all about you. If anything, you should be the most mad. You shouldn't be standing up for him, you should be furious. He left you!"
Jacq: "He-"
Student#1: "May I ask where you're going now? I can see your suitcases are out. Going somewhere?"
Jacq looked down and mumbled to himself.
Student#1: "What was that? Can you speak up?"
Jacq: "I SAID I'M GOING HOME!"
He began to sob into his hands.
Jacq: "Without Dimentio here to take care of me.... I have to go home. I'm going home, okay."
Rose began wheeling him away, out of the room, while he cried into his hands like a small child.
Rose: "Jacques...."
Jacq: "I'm mad."
Rose: "Huh?"
Jacq took a shaky breath, wiping his tears away and turning his head to face her, perfect eyes red from the tears.
Jacq: "I'm mad. They're right. H-he is a coward. He ran away, he left me."
He buried his face back in his arms and sobbed some more.
Jacq: "At least you're here though. At least you won't leave me. Oh, Grambi, I'm so glad you won't leave me."
She slowly nodded.
Rose: "Yup...."
Rose took him to his old home. Since Dimentio was gone, he would be going home to his father so he could be taken care of.
Is that Jacques?
Did you hear what his brother did?
That poor boy.
They should have known.
His father is a lousy father. I bet if he was better, his son wouldn't have done that.
That whole family is messed up. I just feel bad for Jacques. Tragic, really. Can't even stay in school.
Jacq covered his ears.
Jacq: "Can you tell them to stop talking??"
Rose: "Uhh.... no one's talking."
The two arrived at Jacq's house. Rose said that she had to take a minute to clear her head, so Jacq went in alone. She said she'd be back in a few hours, which he was okay with. He wanted to have some alone time with his father anyway. He was sure his father didn't take the news about Dimentio well.
Jacq knocked on the door, before letting himself in when no one answered. He wheeled himself across the house. He heard nothing but the sound of his own heartbeat.
Then.... he heard some muffled screams, and objects smashing.
Jacq: "Dad....?"
He wheeled himself over to his father's room, and slowly opened the door, when a small vase was thrown at him, hitting the wall mere inches from his face and shattering, causing him to yelp in fear and quickly shut to door.
He breathed heavily as he heard his father continued to scream. He waited a moment, trying to summon the courage to open the door again. He shook his hands out, then cracked the door open, slowly peaking his head inside.
Jacq: "D-dad?"
Father: "Get out."
Jacq looked down at his pointy shoes, before taking a deep breath and wheeling himself in.
Jacq: "D-dad, are you okay?"
His father was on his bed, torn up family photos surrounding him. His nightstand was broken, a lamp was broken, the window broken, everything broken.
Father: "Am I okay? Jacq, I'll never be okay again."
Jacq: "Dad, w-we'll get out of this. It'll be okay, r-right? Everything will be okay."
His father shook his head, face red with rage. Then, he pulled out a few pills.
Poison.
Jacq: "D-dad, what are those for?? Dad?? What are you doing?!""
Father: "I can't be know as the father of that..... that thing. Do you hear them? Do you hear what people say? I can't face the world. I can't. He ruined us. He ruined this family. THAT LITTLE COWARD RUINED OUR FAMILY!"
Jacq: "Dad! Please, w-we aren't ruined! I-I'm still here!"
Father: "We're ruined. My son, there's no way out of this. I'll forever be known as the father to that monster. And you...."
His father began to cry.
Father: "You.... my love, my light, my son.... he ruined you. You'll only ever be know as his brother, the brother of that coward who ran away. You'll never be anything because of him."
Jacq: "Dad, don't say that-"
Father: "It's the truth. No use of sticking around. He screwed over this family. He ruined us. Minus well give up now."
Jacq: "Dad? No, we can't just-"
Father: "Sorry, my son. But I can't live with this. The shame, the embarrassment...."
He reached for Jacq's perfect face.
Father: "He ruined your future. He ruined you. Your image, your future, everything."
His father suddenly took the pills and downed them.
Jacq: "DAD?! WAIT, NO NO NO! STOP!"
His father smiled, and leaned back in his bed, closing his eyes.
Father: "Sorry, Jacq."
Jacq watched his father stop breathing, and choked on a sob, crying over his father, screaming out for help.
What just happened?!
Please let this be a dream.
Why is everything going downhill?!
Why is everyone leaving me?!
Soon people came, and took his body away, leaving Jacq alone and broken. In his whole life, never has he felt so alone. It hurt His, even though his father may not have always been the best. His father did never let him do anything, shielding him from anything that could possibly hurt him. His father never let him out, never let him try anything that could possible hurt him, and always made sure someone was there to prevent him from just being a kid. He never let Jacq do anything on his own.
And now, Jacq didn't even know HOW to do anything on his own.
He waited weeks, with no one but his girlfriend to take care of him. He often sat, looking out his window as the rain dripped down.
His brother left him.
Did you hear?
His father gave up.
He should give up too.
He should give up too.
He should give up too.
Jacq: "Rose, can you tell them to please be quiet."
Rose: "Um, no one's talking... Jacq, are you feeling alright?"
Of course not.
He waited in silence, not taking his eyes off the window as she sighed, and walked to the door, grabbing an umbrella.
Rose: "I'm.... going out. I'll be back in a minute, okay?"
Jacq just shrugged, not taking his eyes off the window.
Jacq: "Okay. I love you."
She didn't say it back.
She never said it back.
He just heard a sad sigh and the sound of footsteps and a door shutting.
He should give up too.
Jacq: "No.... no. I have Rose. I'm not gonna give up."
Doesn't love you....
Doesn't love you....
Nobody loves you....
She'll leave you....
Just like everyone else did....
Jacq continued shaking his head no, covering his ears.
Jacq: "Shut up, shut up, shut up!"
She'll leave you just like he did.
He said he'd always catch you.
Where is he now? Huh?
Where is he now?
Jacq: "STOP!!!"
He swung his fist forward, and punched the window, causing the glass to crack, fractures forming up and down it. A loud cracking noise could be heard, but not from the glass. He looked at his shaking hand, and could see red. He shook his head and let out a sob, hugging that hand to his chest.
Jacq: "I'm sorry. I'm sorry."
He turned his head to the side to see Rose standing in the doorway, a shocked look on her face.
That was fast.
Jacq: "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get mad...."
She slowly nodded, a somewhat nervous look on her face.
Jacq: "Rose... what's wrong?"
He turned his chair and wheeled himself over towards her, as she stepped back.
Rose: "Jacques.... I just went out to town. And people... people said Timpani wasn't going to be coming back either. Apparently she found some guy, and will be staying with him."
Jacq cocked his head to the side. He didn't quite see what this had to do with anything.
Jacq: "Okay.... is that why you're all nervous?"
He rubbed his nose, a hint of blood rubbing onto his perfect cheek. She shuddered and took another step back.
Rose: "I've been thinking.... for a while now. Jacq...."
He wheeled forward and grabbed her hand, red liquid dripping from his own. A gentle look in his eyes.
Jacq: "Yes? Rose, what is it?"
He smiled a soft smile, as she frowned. She began to shake her head.
Rose: "Jacq.... I can't do this anymore."
She yanked her hand away, as he knit his brows in confusion.
Jacq: "W-what do you mean-"
Oh no.
Please no.
Please no.
Rose: "I can't. Do. This. Jacq, I'm sorry. I really am, but I never wanted THIS! I never wanted to constantly be at your back in call. I never wanted to be the one taking care of you day in and day out! I never even really wanted to be with you!"
His perfect eyes became watery, his heart throbbing. What was she saying.
She's leaving you, idiot.
Did you really think someone could love you.
You can't even walk.
Jacq: "B-but, you asked me to the dance. Y-you wanted to be with me-"
Rose: "I only did that because Timpani told me to! She's gone now. Look, I'm really sorry, but I never wanted this! I never wanted to be obligated to you. I have my own life. And I'm leaving. I'm really sorry."
She turned and began to walk out.
Jacq: "WHAT?! Rose, No! Please, I don't have anyone left! You're all I have left! Please, I love you! I love you more than anything! You're all I have! You can't leave me! Who' gonna take care of me?? Rose!"
She continued walking, as his mind raced. All the voices, screaming louder than ever before.
She's getting away.
Get her!
Do something!
Go after her!
Fight for her!
Go!
He frantically looked around, before diving out of his chair, falling down and wrapping his arms around her ankle.
Jacq: "PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!"
Rose: "Jacq, what are you doing??"
Jacq: "I'M NOT LETTING GO!"
She began to frantically shake her foot, trying to get him off.
Rose: "Jacq, seriously! Let go! You can't force me to stay! You deserve someone who actually loves you! And I simply don't! I'm sorry! Let me go!"
He squeezed tighter, trying to blink away the tears.
Jacq: "But I love you! I love you so much! More than anything! All I want is your love! Please, I love you! I love you! I LOVE YOU!!!"
She yanked her foot away and ran for the door.
Rose: "I'm sorry Jacq. But I don't love you. I never have."
He reached his arm out to her, eyes wide.
Jacq: "R-Rose, don't walk away from us. D-don't you dare shut that door. Please. I-I can be better. I can be whatever you want. Just please."
She let out an exhausted sigh.
Rose: "I'm sorry."
Then, she shut the door, leaving him alone again.
Jacq: "N-no.... No, ROSE, COME BACK! ROSE! PLEASE!"
Go after her.
Are you seriously just gonna let her go?
Run after her.
Jacq grabbed his head, blood from his hand smearing across his face.
Jacq: "I can't. I can't! I CAN'T!"
Then he heard it. All the other voices silenced themselves, making way for another one.
Jacq.... Until you try, you'll never know.
He opened his eyes. That was Dimentio's voice.
Jacq: "I can't.... I can't do it."
Don't be afraid. I'll catch you. I'll always be here to catch you.
Jacq: "P-promise?"
His voice was quiet now. Like a mouse.
There was no response. Just silence now. Just the sound of his own heartbeat.
Jacq took a deep breath, before trying to pick himself up. He got onto his knees, and grabbed onto a nearby table, trying to use to to hoist himself up.
Jacq: "Rose, please. Come back."
His lungs burned. His fist stung. His heart hurt, and his legs felt weak.
He tried taking a step, only to crash into the table. But he was determined. He kept stumbling around the house, crashing and breaking things. He made it to the door, and reached for it, when he fell down and hit his head really hard. A loud ringing noise began to swim around his head.
Jacq: "Rose.... please...."
I'll catch you. I'll always be here to catch you.
Jacq: "WELL WHERE ARE YOU NOW?? WHERE ARE YOU NOW DIMENTIO??"
He started crying really hard, trying to drag himself back to his chair. A small trail of blood from his fist following him. His knees were all scratched up as well now, and his head really hurt. But nothing compared to the pain his heart was feeling. He crawled back, and reached for his chair, only to knock it over.
Jacq: "N-no..."
He tried sitting up and picking it up, but couldn't. It was starting to matter less and less. He lied down on his back, and looked up at the ceiling.
Give up.
No one loves you.
Father died.
Dimentio left.
Rose never loved you.
Jacq: "Rose.... please."
A part of him was waiting for her to come back to save him. But she never came.
Give up.
Give up.
Give up.
Give up.
Your life has amounted to nothing anyway. You can't walk, everyone you love is gone, why try?
This is why father never let you do anything. He knew you'd get hurt. This is why he never let you try to walk. You'd just fall down.
- Music Start -
Jacq slowly stopped sobbing, and looked around at all the broken items, including himself.
The broken vase, the knocked over wheelchair, the fractured window....
Jacq: "I've learned to slam on the brake
Before I even turn the key
Before I make the mistake
Before I lead with the worst of me
Give them no reason to stare
No slipping up if you slip away
So I got nothing to share
No, I got nothing to say
Step out, step out of the sun
If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned, because you've learned"
He tilted his head to the side so he could see out the broken window. In his mind in the reflection he saw Rose running away, he saw his father dying.
Jacq: "On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
I'm waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
I'm waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me?"
He saw Dimentio waving at him, and smiled briefly, reaching his bloody hand out to him. Then the hallucination of Dimentio in the window turned around and flew off as well, leaving Jacq alone.
Jacq: "We start with stars in our eyes
We start believing that we belong
But every sun doesn't rise
And no one tells you where you went wrong
Step out, step out of the sun
If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned, because you've learned"
He started dragging himself towards that broken window.
Jacq: "On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving?"
He reached his hand out and grabbed the windowsill, lifting his head ever so slightly so he could see out it.
Jacq: "When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?"
He bowed his head.
Jacq: "When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?"
He looked at the broken reflection in the broken window, the cracks making him appear disoriented.
Jacq: "Did I even make a sound?
Did I even make a sound?
It's like I never made a sound
Will I ever make a sound?"
He knew right then, and right there, he was going to die. He was never going to make a sound.
It was okay.
Jacq: "On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me...."
He lied back down and closed his eyes, seeing memories of Dimentio helping him walk.
Jacq: "Is anybody waving?
Waving,
Waving,
Whoa-oh, whoa-oh"
He softly smiled at the memories, when he saw himself fall down, like always. Only that time Dimentio was there to catch him. This time, he was alone.
He hated being alone.
