Reader's PoV

It was an average day at school when it happened. I was paying attention to Ms. Alphys' class, when all of a sudden, the principal called me to the office from the speakers. A bunch of my classmates started whispering what could have possibly happened that would require me to go to to the office. Did I misbehave? Did something tragic happen? Who knows. Ms. Alphys saw the tension rising and cleared her throat, "N-now now everyone, s-settle down. (Your name), you should uh.. go now, yeah." I looked down and nodded, not making eye contact with her. "O-okay..." I muttered politely as I stood up from my seat. I slowly made my way to the door while gripping on the sleeve of my sweater. The sleeve that covered my cuts. Yeah, I started when Susie started making fun of me. It was fine at first, but then she said how my parents only tolerated me because they want money in the future. That, freaking hurt, a lot. . I slightly flinched from every assumption I could hear from my classmates. I shakily opened the door and stepped into the hallway. Something bad was gonna happen, I could feel it. I made my way to the principal's office, looking at my feet and counting every loud step I made.

I stared at the principal's door for what seemed like hours before entering. I was shaking badly when the principal asked me to sit. "Now, I'm guessing you don't know why you're here?" I shook my head as I tried hard not to make eye contact. I found a snow globe and stared at it instead of looking at the floor. "Well, today we've received terrible news regarding... your parents." My eyes widened in fear as I froze. "W-what happened to them?" I asked quietly, fearing the worst for my dear parents. They made me feel complete and made me feel like I actually have a purpose. Without them, I don't know what to do anymore. "They... once they dropped you off at school, a speeding truck hit them while they were driving back home. It wasn't able to stop in time. They died instantly, I'm so sorry." I stopped breathing when I heard that. They couldn't... they couldn't have... Tears ran down my face as I stood up, bowed, and left the room. Rumors about what happened spread fast once I entered the classroom. My teacher noticed my clenched fists and asked, "(Your name), what's wrong-" She wasn't able to finish the sentence as I have dropped to the floor and cried my eyes out. Gasps filled the room when I started silently wailing. I could hear chairs scraping as some students stood, debating wether or not they should comfort me or not. I stood up and ran from the room, ignoring the worried yells from my class.

I didn't know where I could have some time alone, but then I remembered. "The supply closet..." I turned left and ran towards the big metalic doors. I pushed it open and went inside. I shut the door and sat on the floor like a fetus as I cried. I started remembering the fun times me and my parents had before crying even more. Once I was out of tears, I looked at my surroundings, still sobbing. "W-why is it so dark h-here?" I stood up and looked around for a light switch, or a wall for that matter. I can't seem to touch any wall yet. I followed the trail of unnoticeable yet visible pieces of paper as it led me deeper into the closet. After some continuous walking, I could conclude that this is no longer and supply closet. That's when I heard a sound. I looked below me to see the paper failing down. I gasped and slowly walked backwards while watching the paper fall. It was coming closer to me. Once it got right under me, I fell along with it. Screaming, I fell deeper yet deeper. I could see images of happy times. So this is what they call a flash before my eyes. Tears came out from my closed eyes as I fainted before hitting the ground.

I sat up immediately. First thing to get off my mind, my head hurts a lot. Secondly, where am I? Lastly, why is my skin (Favorite color)? I took a moment to admire my new look. I was... completely different now. At least this was long sleeve, so I was fine. I stood up from the cold ground and dusted my (Bottom clothing). I started exploring the place, looking at some weird eyes engraved on the walls and a bunch of dust... things. I kept waking for what seemed like hours before I heard a giggle. Oh Arceus, was someone watching me. Before I got the chance to look around for the person, a felt pain come from my side. A white bullet of sorts was on it. I looked at the direction where the bullet supposedly came from and saw a weird plant creature. My (Favorite color) soul came out. That's strange, I haven't seen my soul after me and Susie had that fight. But the weirdest part was there were cracks and the once vibrant (Favorite color) was replaced with a dimly lit one. Instead of sticking around near that thing, I ran away while clutching my side. I kept waking, and the pain seems to dissappear, so I let go of it.

I was feeling hungry since I left without reading breakfast this morning. I went right and found a tree. It looked like it had some sort of fruit on it. My mouth watered as I tried jumping to get it, but it was no use. I sighed and left, going back to the path. I kept going forward but stopped when I almost bumped into a wall. I looked up to see that the wall was take than any other. I was about to continue until I saw a shadow appear at the top. The silhouette appeared to be waving at me. I was going to continue waking, when all of a sudden a bunch of spades headed towards me. I barely dodged, but it managed to chip away some of my health. My (Favorite color) soul appeared as I ran away from the unidentified person, only for more spades to appear. I dodged them quickly before stopping at a ledge. "Oh gosh..." I looked for an exit, and found a slide going down.

I could hear the sound of honking come closer. I held my breath and slid down. I dodged the spaces coming from my left and right, before coming to a stop. Dusting off my (Bottom clothing), I stood up and ran away from where I fell, hoping that the person would lose me. I went over to the next place, and I became... mesmerized. There was a neon blue town right in front of me, and it just looked gorgeous. Remembering the
'History of Humans and Monsters' book I read, this place reminded me a lot of Waterfall. I walked over to one of the buildings. It looked like a shop, but it seemed that nobody was in there. I checked every other building, still the same. I was about to give up hope, when I saw a castle with some sort of black thing emerging from on top of it in the distance. I walked to it, looking around to see if people were there in the way. I finally got to it and-

"Welcome, (Your name)...!" I jumped at the sudden voice. I was looking around desperately to find whoever said that. "W-who are you?" I muttered, but since it was really silent, my voice echoed, making me yelp in surprise. "Do not be alarmed. I am not your enemy." The voice paused. "Please come forward." I hesitantly stepped forward, and saw a person in a cloak. "Welcome, I am the Prince of this Kingdom: The Kingdom of Darkness. (Your name), there is a LEGEND in this land. A LEGEND that one day three HEROES of Light will arrive and fulfill the ancient prophecy foretold by time and space. Please, Hero... Listen to my tale... " I looked away and nodded hesitantly. "Very well then. "

Once upon a time, a LEGEND was whispered among shadows.
It was a LEGEND of HOPE.
It was a LEGEND of DREAMS.
It was a LEGEND of LIGHT.
It was a LEGEND of DARK.
This is the legend of DELTA RUNE
For millenia, LIGHT and DARK have lived in balance,
Bringing peace to the WORLD.
But if this harmony were to shatter...
a terrible calamity would occur.
The sky will run black with terror
And the land will crack with fear.
Then, her heart pounding...
The EARTH will draw her final breath.
Only then, shining with hope...
Four HEROES appear at WORLDS' edge.
A HUMAN,
A MONSTER,
A MISFIT,
And a PRINCE FROM THE DARK.
Only they can seal the fountains
And banish the ANGEL'S HEAVEN.
Only then will balance be restored,
And the WORLD saved from destruction.
Today, the FOUNTAIN OF DARKNESS-
The geyser that gives this land form-
Stands tall at the center of the kingdom.
But recently, another fountain has appeared on the horizon...
And with it, the balance of LIGHT and DARK begins to shift.

"(Your name), thank you for listening to my long tale. I deeply believe that you are one of the HEROES from LEGEND. That despite whatever enemies you may face. You have the COURAGE to SAVE THE WORLD." He bowed. "DELTA WARRIOR! Please, won't you accept your destiny...?" I blinked for a few times. Me? Some sort of hero from a prophecy? I don't think so. "I'm not s-special. I'm not ready t-to save the world or something..." I hid my face in my hands when he started sweating. "That's okay, would you like me to train you." I coughed in surprise and looked at him. "N-no thanks, I don't wanna burden you, I-I'll be fine..." I lowered my head and stared at my feet. "Oh okay, but if.... help....." I couldn't hear him anymore, his hooded cloak was muffling the sound. I just stood there and waited until he stopped talking.

"And... are you... even listening to me...?" I slightly jumped and shook my head. "I c-can't hear you under your cloak, sir." He made a small "oh" before taking off the cloak. Oh my Arceus. He was so CUTE. He wore a pastel green wizard's outfit, a long magenta scarf, but what really stood out were his green colored glasses. I blushed and looked down. He smiled but gasped afterwards."Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Ralsei, I hope that we can be great friends, (Your name)." I didn't question how he knew my name and nodded slightly. "Now, are you sure you don't want to train? You're gonna need to know how Darkners fight down here." I contemplated on whether I should agree or not. I DO need to get out of here wherever 'here' is. I meekly nodded, which made him clap. "Okay! This way." I followed him away from the castle, making a left when we left the kingdom.

From afar, I could see a Ralsei trading dummy. Ralsei walked over to it, so I followed. "I made this training dummy to practice defending. Maybe you should try it." Then all of a sudden, the room became black. Ralsei got into his fighting position. My soul came out, still dim and cracked. "(Your name), that... oh dear... what happened to your soul?" He observed my soul. I looked away and sighed. "It... It's f-fine..." He looked at you with concern and backed away. "Okay... If you say so." He faced the dummy. "So what you want to do it you got to ACT now ACTing is..." I wasn't listening to him after that. My mind went to that dummy. Dummies in general were... familiar. That triggered a memory.

My hands shook as a held the (Favorite weapon). My dad was there beside me, making sure I don't get hurt. A poorly made dummy stood a few feet away from me. My dad pointed to it. "Okay (Your name), just like we practiced." I (walked towards it/aimed at it) and (sliced/shot) its head off. My dad clapped and picked me up. "Ya did it! I knew you could do it." I guys my face on his shoulder and he chucked. As if on cue, my mom came out with some (Favorite snack). I looked up and greeted her. "Oh (Father's name), why do you need to teach her how to (slice/shoot)? It's a bit inappropriate for her age." My dad shook his head. "Nonsense, our little girl needs to learn how to defend herself. Isn't that right sweetheart?" My face became redder as I hid my face in dad's shoulder. They both laughed.

I remember how my dad used to help me practice using (Favourite weapon)cfor defense in our backyard. I remember how mom used to make us (Favorite snack) if I did well. I could feel tears start brimming the corner of my eyes. I miss them... I tapped on Ralsei's shoulder, making him so explaining and turn to me. "E-excuse me for a while... I need to do s-something." I said while looking away making sure he couldn't see my tears. He looked at me with concern and nodded. "Okay, but please don't get lost." I made small "mhm" before going back to the place where I tried to escape from those spades. I sat down on the ground and did a fetal position. I couldn't hold the tears in anymore, so I just let them out. I was crying my eyes out until I remembered something.

"Nobody would care if you disappeared." Thank for the reassurance Susie. I know that most things that you say are unintentional, but it's starting to get into me either way. I felt around my pocket only to find that my pocket knife... wait no, it became some sort of dagger. I held it to my arm and sliced it. "Useless..." One. "Burden." Two. "Freak." Thre- "Hey (Your name) are you ok-" I jumped at the sudden voice and accidentally misdirected my hand to cut my wrist. I clutched my wrist and let out a cry of agony. Ralsei immediately ran to help me. The last thing I saw was his hand glowing.

I could hear panicked footsteps pace around. I stirred from the sound and woke up completely. I saw Ralsei pacing around worriedly. I looked at my wrist to see that it was bandaged, as well as my cuts. I watched as Ralsei kept pacing around until I got tired of it. "Ralsei?" He looked at me and immediately tackled me into a hug. "R-ralsei??" His arms were shaking in the hug. He was... crying. "(Your name)... why did you do that? I-imagine if you actually died. Thankfully, I used Healing Prayer on you before you did. " I sighed and gently post his hair... fur... I don't know. "But still why would you do that in the first place?" I stared at him as tears came back to my eyes. "I m-m-miss my parents... They d-died..." I started crying, but casting if Ralsei was in the same room. He rubbed I back as I continued to wail. "Everything will be alright we just need to put our past in the past, you know? Your parents must be so proud that you made it this far alone. That's why you shouldn't give up." He reassured while wiping your tears away. "Just please, don't do that again." I nodded.
