The Way Things Always Were

Five was working on his algorithms on his bedroom wall and then turned to Delores. "What do you think? Will it work?" He asked her with a grin that showed his dimple. He furrowed his eyebrows and replied. "I know, I know! But I can't stop now, the fate of the world is at stake!" He announced. He returned to his thoughts and continued his math. After hours, he looked up to find Delores missing and his eyes grew wide. Someone must have taken her! So, Five decided to ask each one of his siblings about her whereabouts! How dare they abduct her like that?! A cruel game indeed. Klaus was first.
"Klaus... I need you to stop playing around with Delores, she's not a toy." Five warned. Klaus looked confused as he looked up from his picture frame. "Who? Oh. Your Mannequin. Lighten up Five! You make it sound like someone stole your lover!" He laughed. Then he saw Five's gritted teeth and furrowed brows. "I don't know where you put it. Maybe you forgot it somewhere?" He suggested.
"Don't play games Klaus!" Five shouted. Klaus laughed again and threw up his hands. "Well, I didn't do anything this time. Maybe someone else is playing a prank on you~" Klaus answered. Five balled his fists before leaving Klaus' room and slamming the door behind him. He heard Allison and Luther laughing downstairs so he went down and talked to them. "Have either of you seen Delores?" He asked while controlling the tone in his voice. They both looked at him curiously.
"No," Allison answered. "Don't you usually carry her with you?"
"Yes but someone has moved her. I can't find her anywhere." Five said quietly.
Luther stood up. "Did you check your room? Or Klaus'?"
Five simply nodded.
"How far could an inanimate—" Luther began before seeing Five's glare. "Sorry, I just don't know how she could just disappear."
"Thanks anyway." Five said before pursing his lips.
Next he tried a different approach. He walked to Vanya's door where he could hear her violin. He knocked.
"Come in." She answered while putting her violin back in its case.
"Vanya, have you seen Delores?" He asked.
Vanya gave him a concerned look. "She isn't with you?"
"No, I was working on my algorithms when I lost track of time and then I looked over to the bed and she was... gone." He explained.
Vanya's jaw dropped a bit. "You think someone's taken her?" She asked.
"That's the only thing that makes sense."
"I can help you look." She offered. Five nodded slowly before exiting the room. Vantages and Five searched all over the large mansion for Delores. They asked Pogo, Mom and Diego about her in their travels, to no avail. At nightfall, they turned on all the lights and used flashlights under objects.
Suddenly, they heard the loud chiming of a click that announced midnight. Vanya looked to it before turning to Five who didn't appear to have heard a thing.
"Five" she said gently. "We'll look more in the morning, okay? We'll be no good looking if we can't keep our eyes open." She suggested.
Five struck a nearby ottoman hard with his right foot in frustration before sitting back on it and rocking. His fists were balled and his muscles were tense. He held his head in his hands and muffled his sobs. Vanya crouched down next to him. "It'll be okay, we'll find her Five." She assured him.
He took a deep breath and wiped his tears.
"I need to keep looking." He announced. Vanya furrowed her brows. "You can do whatever you want!" He told her. She sighed.
"Okay." She said before slowly walking toward the stairs. "If you don't find her, let me know and we can look more in the morning." Vanya told him, she knew there was no arguing with Fuve when he had his mind on something. She continued up the stairs.
